Troubling Times For Arctic Alarmists

Climate alarmists believe there is as massive heatwave going on in the Arctic.

Eric Holthaus on Twitter: “Another stunning record this week

But the ice has a different opinion. Over the past week, there has been very little ice loss in the Arctic Basin. The ice edge has been growing in the East Siberian Sea and Chukchi Seas. In order to get a big melt this summer, there would have to be a lot of ice loss in the Beaufort Sea before the end of July.

The bad news for alarmists is that the Beaufort Sea is going to be very cold this week.

10-Day Temperature Outlook

The next map overlays the below freezing temperature forecast for the next nine days in blue. The big melt which alarmists need is not going to happen.

Update : Over the past 24 hours there has been almost no change in Arctic ice extent.

And the Northwest Passage is blocked with 100% concentration ice.

Hansen : Missed It By That Much

During the early 1980s, NASA’s James Hansen predicted 7C warming in the tropical lower troposphere.

PROJECTING THE CLIMATIC EFFECTS OF INCREASING CARBON DIOXIDE

Satellite data shows that will take about 700 years.

Lower Troposphere Temperature

Once the current El Nino ends, temperatures will plummet.  But no worries, Hansen also predicted the Arctic would be ice-free and Manhattan underwater by 2018.

Imaginary Record Heat In The East

The dreaded “heat index” at work.

Eastern Seaboard Braces for Possible Record-Breaking Heat Wave – WSJ

Of the one hundred hottest days in the Northeastern US, seventy-one occurred before 1956, and eighty occurred with CO2 below 350 PPM. The last hot weather occurred in 2011, right before I moved to Maryland.

The five hottest days in the Northeast were 7/3/1911, 7/4/1911, 7/10/1936, 7/5/1911 and 8/7/1918.

Heat in New York City peaked more than 60 years ago, and has been declining ever since.

Nothing new about these exaggerations though – people have been doing it for as long as they have been able to speak.

IMAGINARY CHANGES OF CLIMATE

every season is sure to be ” extraordinary,” almost every month one of the driest or wettest, or windiest, within or hottest, ever known. Much observation, which ought to correct a tendency to exaggerate, seems in some minds to have rather a tendency to increase it.

July 18, 1936 – Hottest Day On Record In The Western US

There have been 11,500 summer days since 1895.  July 18, 1936 was the hottest and the only one which averaged 100 degrees (99.6F)  in the western US.

It was also the hottest July 18 across the entire country.

Three states reached 118 degrees (Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma) nine states were over 110 degrees, and twenty seven states were over 100 degrees.

States over 100F (38C) on July 18. 1936.

Virginia	102
New Mexico	101
Oregon 101
Ohio 100
Wisconsin	100

Meanwhile, the Denver Post says the Denver Airport could reach 100 degrees tomorrow, which they say would be near an all-time record and would be due to global warming.

One hundred degrees actually happens almost every year at the Denver airport, and is five degrees cooler than the 105 degrees downtown Denver reported on August 8, 1878. A record that has never been beaten, despite the fact that the airport site is three to five degrees warmer than downtown.

The breathtaking level of ignorance and stupidity among climate reporters, seems to know no bounds.

The Scary Heat Index

The National Weather Service tweeted this scary map of Missouri temperatures ranging from 105 degrees to 114 degrees.

NWS Kansas City on Twitter:

Only problem is, they weren’t actual temperatures – they were the “heat index.” The actual temperature at St. Joseph, Missouri today was 95 degrees – not 114 degrees.

Now compare with this date in 1936, when air temperatures reached 118 degrees.  Lamar, Missouri was 26 degrees hotter on this date in 1936 than it was today.

People now spend their entire life in air conditioned buildings and cars, and imagine they live in the hottest weather ever. There is no awareness of how people lived in the past – which is essential for keeping the climate scam alive. The victim mentality is behind everything progressives do.
