Field Of Climate Dreams

Build it and they will come.

In response to my graphs showing how the US has cooled over the last century, reader Jeff has been pointing out that it was cooler from 1871 to 1918.

No surprise there. In 1989, NOAA’s Tom Karl said most global warming occurred before 1919, and that Earth cooled from 1921 to 1979. Which is exactly what my graphs show.

A huge amount of warming was reported from 1918 to 1923.

Is the North Pole going to melt entirely? Are the Arctic regions warm- ing up, with the prospect of a great climatic change in that part of the world? Science is asking these questions.

Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers who sail the seas around Spitsbergen and the eastern Arctic all point to a radical change in climatic conditions, with hitherto unheard-of high temperatures on that part of the earth’s surface. Observations to that effect have covered the last five years during which the warmth has been steadily increasing.

In 1974, NCAR showed that this warming continued until 1945, followed by sharp cooling until the 1970’s.

Good to see that we all agree, but not so good to see how Jeff is trying to mislead people by cherry-picking cold weather in the 19th century.

The Scott Koontz Challenge!

Update : Scott Koontz is now blocked. He didn’t deliver.

———————————————–

Scott Koontz says he will have my GHCN software (which has been open sourced for years) analyzed and debunked in a few hours.  I eagerly await his report.

Unfortunately his frantic posting may slow him down a bit….

Magical Graphs!

DMI shows Arctic sea ice extent falling sharply over the last few days, with almost 5% of the ice melted in just a few days.

NSIDC maps show nothing happening in the Arctic over the last few days.

I wonder where the magical DMI 5% ice loss comes from?

I took these pictures at NCAR yesterday, where climate scientists are working very hard to save us from global warming.

Scientists Grant Earth A Reprieve!

Originally 350 PPM CO2 was going to kill us.  Now it is 410 PPM.

That is why they created 350.org, which is now 400.350.org

400.350.org

It doesn’t really matter though, because the UN says global warming killed us 18 years ago.

A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.

As the warming melts polar icecaps, ocean levels will rise by up to three feet, enough to cover the Maldives and other flat island nations, Brown told The Associated Press in an interview on Wednesday.

Fear not! Our friends on the left have determined they can save children from global warming, by having school teachers murder the children.

How Not To Measure Temperature

I have been showing how summer temperatures have been declining at well sited rural stations. Now I am going to show the exact opposite. The weather station at Fort Collins, Colorado showed a huge jump in temperatures when they started building the CSU Transit Center around the year 2000.

In 1937, the station was located in the middle of a farm.

By 1950, the area was starting to get built up.

By 1969, the city had surrounded the weather station.

Now it is in the middle of a parking lot in the downtown of a large urban area, which has more than tripled in size over the past 60 years.

Nothing Happening In The Arctic

There has been almost no change in Arctic sea ice extent over the past two days.
