Lessee… Comments not allowed… Check. No mention of the purpose of the “scientific expedition”… Check. It’s not surprising to see the Sydney Morning Herald still toeing the AGW/CC line.
Nonetheless, thanks for the own goal, climate change professor Chris Turney, Guardian reporters and associated hangers on! A few more publicity stunts like this and the credibility of the AGW thesis will have been completely torn asunder!
So the nutty green professor and his PR team will be saved by the burning of fossil fuels provided by evil oil companies and a helicopter that comes from the country with the highest CO2 emissions in the world, China. Only the irony is thicker than the ice. 😉
Waiting

Now the Chinese ice breaker is stuck.

lol
I’m praying for rain.
Chris Turney tweeted this yesterday:
What can you do with a dose of hubris as big as his? My irony reflex is completely worn out by this guy.
It’s been my observation that every time Turney includes the word ‘warm’ in a tweet the distance from the ship to open water increases by about 2 km.
“British journalist Alok Jha, who is aboard the Academik Shokalskiy, said the passengers were waiting for the weather to clear so they could be rescued.”
It’s all about them. The RESCUERS are waiting for the weather to clear.
Also note that the passengers were to be rescued by 3 different ships – there have been 3 failed attempts. This will be the 4th attempt. I will believe it will be successful when it is successful.
I love the headlines, “scientists and passengers to be rescued.”
Uhhh . . . there are just passengers.
Now they r worried the Chinese Ice-Breaker is stuck!!! ROTFL!!!

Gamecock says……………….
How about, mentally challenged passengers claiming to be “scientists”, and passengers to be rescued?
Genuine hardship doesn’t begin at least until after you run out of beer. Mawson killed and ate and fed some of his dogs to his other dogs. They don’t have any dogs. A few months with no heat and subsisting on penguins might alter their outlook rather considerably. Now that would be an interesting experiment.
Also it appears they’re not going to evacuate all the crew. Will the Russians have to sit there, wait for the nonexistent ice to clear and pray none of the nonexistent icebergs plow into them in the meantime? Still it will probably be much more relaxed after the twittering twits are evacuated, and the liquor will go a lot further. ???? ????????!
“They don’t have any dogs.”

Passengers are learning Spanish. “Estamos jodidos, no cagarse en los pantalones.”
