Erm…. I thought the problem with “Gun Free Zone” signs was that the criminally inclined read those sign as “Free Fire Zone” or “Disarmed Victims Zone”.
There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with criminal’s comprehension of the effects of such laws and signs.
Fort Hood is a gun free zone. None of the 40,000 waiting victims are allowed to carry their weapons on base.
At the local US Navy base, not only are guns disallowed, the sailors are forbidden to even carry pocket knives.

And note to all the liberal idiots parroting the #MomsDemand hags who are touting the canard that “this puts the lie to the claim that good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns (Nya Nya Nya, NRA, blah blah blah)”: not only were the victims disarmed due to Fort Hood being a Free-Fire, Defenseless Victim (AKA “Gun Free”) Zone, but also, the perpetrator took a voluntary dirt nap when he was approached by a female MP armed with a gun. The “good guy with a gun” did stop the bad guy with a gun.
And piss off for spitting on the graves of innocent, defenseless, murdered soldiers.
