    Steven,

The first bit of bad news for Progressives this week: Biofuels create more GW than pure gasoline. The government paid for the study, and then immediately trashed it. Dupont just built a biofuels plant, and coincidentally, they trashed the study too.

Some greenies attacked Proctor and Gamble hq. because P&G uses “palm oil” in shampoo.

The basis of the discontent was, palms are being planted in Indonesia etc displacing jungle.

I guess it didn’t occur to these people that European bio diesel (5% of their diesel fuel) is palm oil based.

Prince Charles runs his private train on 100% palm oil biodiesel BWAAAHAAAAAAAAAA

I have not read the report and so perhaps should not comment — but here goes anyway!

The ethanol for corn process could very well be “carbon positive” as the CAGW cultists phrase it. After all, the purpose never was to produce ethanol or to reduce CO2; the purpose was to allow agribusiness to reap huge amounts of governmental teat milk.

Having said that, corn is not a very good feeder stock for alcohol production. There are other ways to produce ethanol that make far more sense and may even be economically viable. One of the better ones I saw was a pilot study that used cat tails grown in municipal sewage effluent. The cat tails cleaned up the water and when fermented produced massive amounts of alcohol — much more than equivalent acres of corn.

Subsidizing corn into ethanol production is a massive waste of public resources.

It’s interesting that Hitler gets all the press when, according to http://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/20TH.HTM the PR China killed 77 million, the USSR 62 million, Nazi Germany 21 million.

    • Ernest Bush says:

Hitler took over the country peaceably until the noose was drawn tightly enough it couldn’t be undone. The two communist countries were taken by bloody revolutions and cost no lives in the Western countries.

      • inMAGICn says:

Can you clarify “Western Countries?” I’m thinking of Prague in 1968 or Budapest, 1956, for starters. Were Czechoslovakia and Hungary not sufficiently “Western?”

I’d like to bet now that, while Google ignored Easter, celebrated by millions worldwide, they will do something for Earth/Lenin day

  4. tom0mason says:

May I be the first to offer a happy Earth Day for tomorrow, and remember that without that wonderful organ the UN we wouldn’t have known when to celebrate this important event. So in a way we are also celebrating the wonderful leadership that the UN has shown us.

So tomorrow celebrate with the Original Earth Pies®© and RealDirt™®© candy!

    If you didn’t realize that’s a /sarcoff.

  5. …and my calendar (a Christmas present) shows Wednesday as “Administrative Professionals” Day…so it’s even worse than you thought.

  6. darrylb says:

A sad thing is, the idea of an earth day could have been a good thing if wasn’t simply propaganda day.
A day to look objectively at potential concerns.
Instead it will be a detriment to determining what could and should be done.

  7. Brian G Valentine says:

So let’s get stoned and celebrate Communism.

Communism for you and me anyway, but if you’re a Progressive and mouth politically expedient slogans you can do what you want. It’s the intent, not the actions, that count.

    • Andy Oz says:

Communist elites take all the wealth from the stupid peons and enjoy the high life, just like Warmists want. I’m starting to think the communism may be the way to go, since the destruction of individual liberty is all but complete in every western country.

  8. TomC says:

Next week is a big week too (May Day).
