Dems Planning New Ways To Subvert The Second Amendment

About 80 House members wrote a letter to President Obama Wednesday urging him to renew enforcement against the import of military-style, semiautomatic firearms.

Under the 1968 Gun Control Act, they write, the president has broad authority to prohibit guns and ammunition from being imported into the country unless they are “generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes.”

Self defense is a sport? Does anyone know who medaled in Self Defense at the last Olympics?

I presume you’re on your way to Bunkerville, Nevada ?

Not sure that rancher is someone whom I would defend. Other ranchers in the area are saying that he indeed has a gripe, but that he made it known in a most unproductive way. Two wrongs just makes a wrong, and likely nothing good will come of this. Picking your battles is 50% of winning the war.

I don’t know, but I’ll give the Western ranchers a Gold medal for sending the BLM packing today.

Oh they’ve been busy in other ways. The EPA has been going after lead smelters for years! http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/articles/2013/12/us-ammunition-industry-to-survive-closure-of-lead-smelter.aspx

“At Fort Hood memorial, Obama calls for renewed focus on mental health, gun control”

Focusing on mental health and gun control didn’t work, so he calls for renewed focus on mental health and gun control.

    • Jason Calley says:

The psychopath who controls the most destructive weapons on the planet calls for renewed focus on sanity and gun control.

Parody can no longer exceed reality.

    • David A says:

It was gun control over soldiers being disarmed that made Fort Hood far worse then otherwise. Indeed, it likely would not have happened at all if the soldiers carried on base.

  5. RAH says:

Man This former SF soldier I really has mixed feelings about open carry on a post. Or even possession in quarters, be they family or barracks. I think that perhaps the best answer based on my experience would be for only soldiers in their 6th year of service or more should be allowed to posses firearms as open carry or in quarters on post. And never in open barracks where, as I imagine there still are at many schools/training courses.
By your 6th year your truly a professional. Or at least the vast majority that serve that long are.

Yes I know there will be all kinds of arguments counter to my suggestion. But it is merely my opinion based on almost 12 years of service CONUS and OCONUS.

    …military-style, semiautomatic firearms.

Unless you’re talking about a pistol, “military-style” and “semiautomatic” don’t belong in the same sentence. While it would be cool to shoot one sometime, civilian possession of automatic and selective-fire firearms has already been essentially eliminated since 1934.

If we let you progressive tyrants have your way, as is currently the state of affairs in New York, if I put a now-factory-optional threaded barrel in my Ruger SR-22 (.22LR plinker) pistol, I would be in possession of an assault weapon. (While a lot of fun to shoot – when .22LR rounds can actually be found anymore – the only thing that pistol would be good for “assaulting” would be colored water-filled plastic bottles.)

“Restoring the import ban is a no-brainer that would require no legislative action, would make our nation safer and would support neighboring Mexico where drug violence is fueled by firearms flowing south from the United States,” Mr. Engel said in a statement.

If you’re worried about making Mexico safer, perhaps you should instead petition the President to stop exporting firearms to Mexico.

“We urge you to once again fully enforce a ban on the import of military-style firearms and to expand the ban to include newly-developed AK-type pistols that combine the firepower of a rifle with the concealability of a pistol,” they wrote. “This new breed of pistol has absolutely no ‘sporting purpose’ and presents a clear threat to public safety.

Such weapons are used to murder fewer people than hammers, and strangely you aren’t championing the banning of assault hammers due to them presenting a “clear threat to public safety”.
