The leaves are just starting to come out on the trees, and we are expecting 10 inches of very heavy, wet snow today. This means broken branches everywhere.

I am in mid North Carolina and the tender new leaves are JUST starting to come out on SOME of the trees. I mean that there were no leaves, just swollen buds three days ago. The Dogwood next to the house has finally bloomed.
Ten years ago in 2004 the week around the 13th of April had:
a max temp of 87 °F and a min of 60 °F.
This year it is
a max temp of 68 °F and a min of 50 °F.
No wonder the trees are not out.

Yes, people notice when their tomato plants don’t set fruit because it is too cold.
Central VA hit 83 today, but Tues. and Wed. nights look to at least frost and at most a mild freeze. My peaches managed to get in a bloom in the short respite of warmth. The dogwoods are still bare. Only the very tallest trees have leafed out.
Interesting that the US drought monitor shows the upper Colorado River basin in drought or abnormally dry.

More evidence the US drought monitor is being manipulated.
It’s not sticking in the Boulder area yet (8 AM MST).
It is currently raining here in the high desert on the junction of the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers. Sept 2013 had the second high rain fall total ever recorded for that month. Snow pack in the adjacent mountains is 115% of normal. I walked the desert yesterday and it is the most lush vegetation I can recall seeing in the last 40 years.
Sounds like the climate is reconfiguring into a different state.
It will be interesting to see what this state is like. Hopefully it will not be more drought.

Head honcho from the IPCC says today that you have to stop using fossil fuels and use ‘renewables’ or your climate will change.
But the idiots realize that climate always have change, and man’s contribution to atmospheric CO2 is about 3% – 97% is from natural sources. Therefore even if we all stopped using fossil fuels tomorrow our impact on the climate would be between negligible and nothing,
