Killing 3 Birds With One Stone

Changes to GISS US temperatures between 2001 and 2014 assisted in multiple efforts.

    1. Reducing the 1940s spike
    2. Hiding the decline
    3. Making the hockey stick

This was on top of a very large and similarly shaped change between 2000 and 2001

Thanks, Steven, for documenting the problem: Blatant Misuse of Science for Deception.

Now we need to find a way to return science and society to sanity: Contact with Reality.

Steve, evict this spammer already. Neutron Man is destroying your street cred, dude. Your activist opposition is well aware of the power of pointing out his incestuous child rapist history and is very successfully using it to ridicule skeptics on forums wide and far. Every day now he is your first poster for your best posts, yammering on about nuclear war and wacky theories that our best skeptical physicist Lubos Motl scoffed at. The NAZIs as you are so fond of invoking as a reason to retain him here are exactly those who *failed* to speak out against evil and here *you* are harboring it. No wonder you are not invited to participate in skeptical books, and note that Neutron Man even coauthored with Tim Ball before their Sky Dragon bullshit was rightfully banned on the mothership blog. That’s who you now represent, Steve, a freak, a willful outsider instead of a responsible human being in a culture of professionals. You label statements like this “spam” IN DEFENSE OF TEXTBOOK SPAM! This evil man is promoting a book that he refuses to properly publish as a professional journal contribution minus all manner of ranting conspiracy theory. He is one of the most notorious crackpots on the planet and you now help him insinuate his revolting presence into skepticism. It’s bad enough with all the damn stem cell funding banning creationists who want to tag along. All this maniac needs to do is fawn every day and your ego really enjoys that type of attention?!

The image map link for your first plot is a duplicate of the second plot so I don’t have access to a large version of the second one.

    A hockey stick of fraud.

  3. I’m feeling warmer already.

I’m going to try telling Duke Energy that their raw data are wrong, and that I only used half as much energy as they claimed they serviced to my house this month.

Think they’ll be okay with me only paying 50% of my energy bill?

    • Shazaam says:

I’m sure they’ll be amused and send a climatologist right out to “adjust your meter”.

After that “adjustment” you’ll be using at least 10% more across the board.

It’s only your past usage that can be adjusted down. Current usage can only go up with a climatologist turning the calibration screws……

For even more fun, try adjusting what the government takes in taxes……

  5. Dom says:

    Over zealousness(es) or an industrial-conspiracy?

I hope we can hunt them down and sort this out if the “pendulum” ever gets a chance to swing the other way, President Eisenhower was right about guarding against the military powers being influenced by the industrial complex; a good analogy for what is happening with the rest of our government who (for a large-part) has lost their way.

One thing for sure, we have to STOP the “revolving doors” between government positions and private corporations; require a five-year wait or something.

Here’s the ending to that speech that the Left never quotes…

[…] Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades.

In this revolution, research has become central, it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.

Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.

The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present – and is gravely to be regarded.
Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.

The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present – and is gravely to be regarded.
It is the task of statesmanship to mold, to balance, and to integrate these and other forces, new and old, within the principles of our democratic system – ever aiming toward the supreme goals of our free society.”

Wonder if they suffer from alzheimer. They can’t remember they did the same adjustments last year, so they do it again this year.

  7. ntesdorf says:

As shown in ‘1974’ , History has to be continuously changed to accommodate the new belief systems. This is quite normal on the other side of the mirror of History.

  8. Greg says:

I’d really like to share/tweet this, but is there any supporting documentation? It’s just a graph. If I read this on an alarmist website I’d say “this is unsubstantiated”. Got to be consistent. Perhaps a snippit of the original published numbers vs later publications from GISS?

  9. Ofay Cat says:

I have lost all interest in the details of the ‘global warming’ debate. It is a ruse it is not serious. It is a tool of wealth extraction and nothing more. Rather than continually arguing the science around this debate … we should be putting all our efforts to electing people who know it’s a scam and won’t participate in it. Harper was a pretty good choice for Canada, but the wheel turns … we much fight this in the political arena, not the science lab.

Science is the tool … politicians and their pals are the enemies of freedom and prosperity.

The science is settled … global warming is a joke. Climate change is normal and must refuse pay for experimental and failed, green technology.

    It’s the politicians, stupid!

  10. rgraham4444 says:

Okay please help me understand. Go easy on me if I am missing the obvious but. When I look at those graphs they both have no blue lines past the year 2000. Heck they stop before 2000. Is that the point? Is it because the blue line would be heading back down or at least flatlining. So they call it a chart for 2014 but it just stops at 2000? I’m not seeing an adjustment of anything anywhere. The scale on the vertical is different between the two but again I don’t see what everyone else is getting. Can someone help. Thanks in advance.
