Some of the greatest prophets of our time are Paul Ehrlich, James Hansen, Harold Camping, the Mayans, and now the IPCC – all of whom made nearly identical forecasts about the end of the world coming soon.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

The end is not only near it is so more nearer than it’s eva been.
So stay calm!

You are being very unfair to the Mayans, who had a perfectly good calendar that served the purpose it was designed for.
It outlasted their civilization!
Which proves they weren’t pessimistic enough.

Not to worry, it’s almost all over anyway…
“The controversial 73-year-old founder of Texas’ Cornerstone Church says he has been preparing for this tetrad for years. The preparation includes a book — Blood Moons: Something is About to Change and an online TV special Tuesday.
“What is the prophetic significance (of the four blood moons)? Is this the end of the age?” Hagee asked his congregation during a sermon shortly after his book was released, Christianity Today reports.
He cites Acts 2:19-20 as a sign: “And I will show wonders in Heaven above and signs in the Earth beneath, the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.”
In extensive remarks available online on his interpretation of the Blood Moons, Hagee says, “I believe that the heavens are God’s billboard, that He has been sending signals to planet Earth, and we just haven’t been picking them up.”
He adds: “God is literally screaming at the world: ‘I’m coming soon.'”

I liked the book, I believe in the significance, and I like the pastor…..but I get “hung-up” on where he adds his two cents to scripture; but it would be a false-premise to think that we would totally agree with anyone wouldn’t it?
I believe it was Rene Descartes who wrote that our search for perfection is a sense of divinity that exists within us all; literally anything or everything can be argued.
Mayans did not predict end times!!!
We have a new “canary in the coal mine” — of global cooling that is. Detroit set a new all-time record for snow and my marina is still frozen in. April 15 normally marks the start of the boating season in Michigan.
The only real “canary” for climate chage.
I am in mid North Carolina just south of the “snowline” we get snow about once every five years. So what is the weather forecast???
“Freeze warning in effect from 3 am to 9 am EDT Wednesday…” The average low for that date is 48 °F It also says the record low was 28 °F (1950) but that is at RDU north and on the other side of the “snowline” (That area usually gets snow every year.)
For Fayetteville to the south of us, the average min for the 16th is 51 °F and record low 28 °F (1943)
Why is there even a CO2 climate change controversy? OK, we all know why. Nonetheless, have a look at http://www.geocraft.com/WVFossils/PageMill_Images/image277.gif
Tel @ 7:49 mentions correctly that the Mayans has a perfectly good calendar – it “rolled over” much like the odometer in a car. The real question about it is the nature of the event – the start date – on which it was based. (About 5,128 years ago + or -)
It was Jim Jones and “Flavor Aid” – not “Kool-Aid” of the cute image above that was used to kill the commune’s members.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flavor_Aid#Jonestown_Massacre
But the link above also states “. . . show stocks of both Flavor-Aid and its leading competitor within the commune’s storehouses, so it is quite possible that both drinks were used as carriers for the poison.”
My car is going to end in 770,000 miles?!
Nah, my pickup is near a million and still running strong. (Cummins Diesel)
Just barely broken in.
It was all those Cummins diesels that caused the extinction of the dinosaur. 😉
You just watch, when the odometer rolls over to zeros your pickup will simply vanish beneath you, & you’ll end up like Lynda Carter.
I would not mind winding up with Lynda Carter.
Oh wait, you said LIKE her. Damn!
James the Elder says: Just barely broken in.
************
Yes, she’s running better than ever. On the other hand Jim Jessup just worked on her. When we get the time and money we are going to drive from N.C. to North Vernon Indiana to have him work on Hubby’s truck.
@John F. Hulquist – and thus the danger of not protecting copyrights. Bayer did not do it with Aspirin, and all of a sudden everyone had “aspirin” when in reality the generic name is acetylsalicylic acid.
I guess Kool-Aid fell into the same trap, albeit the reputation for them is a bit more damaging. I had always heard Kool-aid. Somehow “drinking the flavor-aid” just does not sound right. 😉
Then there is kleenex and xerox and more recently google for it.
Trademarks.
Trade marks do not keep people from using words like they want to.
I hate the words chemical (not a vacuum) being used to mean a man made substance and the word thoroughbred to mean purebred.
Whenever any one tells me they have a thoroughbred poodle, I ask whether the horse was the dam or sire….
Thanks. I had a brain fart.
