Alarmists are constantly accusing me of being a paid oil-industry shill who wants to see the planet destroyed. I would be more than happy to take oil money, but no one has offered any. My blogging has come out of my own pocket, and has been very expensive in terms of time and lost opportunity costs.
I have been an active environmentalist for almost my entire life. At age 16 I testified before a Congressional hearing in support of a proposed wilderness area in Utah. I worked to get the Clean Air Act passed, and worked for two summers as a wilderness ranger in New Mexico. I do all of my local transport and shopping by bicycle, and buy almost exclusively organic and free range food.
The reason I blog is because catastrophic global warming is junk science, used by unscrupulous people for unscrupulous political and financial purposes. It keeps environmentalists from doing anything useful, and provides progressives an excuse to push toward totalitarianism.
The global warming scam needs to be stopped. It has spiraled completely out of control, and no longer has any pretense of science behind the lies.
I do this because I want my children and grandchildren to enjoy the opportunities I have enjoyed, and because global warming alarmists threaten everyone with their psychotic, sociopathic behavior.
Amen!
+1.
Bravo!
That’s really the only weapon the Alarmists have: character assassination.
A man with actual values…thats totally unknown to the alarmist/green/totalitarians…they dident see that coming. Keep it up.
Dirty Harry has a different theory…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTKPGblYF6o
What strikes me as odd, is that Harry et al think shutting down free speech IS American. Whoever put this on YouTube thought it was flattering, and donation worthy.
Harry has a lot of karma waiting for him
Well, the speech to which he refers is a far cry from “free.”
Hopefully this is Dirty Harry;s last term.
Thank you, Mr. Goddard, for pointing out the fallacies, stupid assumptions, and the $ motivation of the climate alarmists. We appreciate your work very much!
I’m glad you do what you do. Pyschotic nutbag liberals … not so much.
Whether I comment or not I usually visit this site several times a day and use the info and excellent newspaper articles from the past to stump the little totalitarians.
Me too. Thanks Steve!
Keep up the tweets. I enjoy it. It’s hard to believe so many have fallen for AGW.
Thank you, Steven, for having the courage to speak out.
“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.
We each have our roles to play.”
You play your role well !
What a great statement!
A short but concise piece stating your position. Many Warmists don’t know that Anthony Watts used to be a Warmist and today drives an electric car and has solar and LED energy saver bulbs. These alarmists think that sceptics don’t have children, like breathing in soot and are paid to risk the future of the planet which we all inhabit. Sheesh!
PS I live at sea level and if anyone should be alarmed it should be me, but I’m not because we are dealing with massive scientific fraud on a nudge, nudge, wink, wink basis. Just see the Climategate emails.
Shakespeare described the journey of life well. Here’s the correct quote:
“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. . . .
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.”
Spoken from the heart. Good man. And thank you.
Thank you for your efforts Steve.
Good job, keep up the good work Steven!
The world has always been inhabited by those with deep fears, and this era is no different.
Their fears propel them towards what they hope is a means to salvation, whether its contaminated air-water-land, a global temperature apocalypse, over-population or hobgoblins, they have fears that keep them awake at night and it’s everybody else’s fault.
I hear Obama care offers great deals on prescribed medication, so maybe the fearful should take advantage of it 😉
Read you every day, Steve.
I too, am grateful for all your work. Many, many thanks.
I love your subtle humour.
First place I visit on the inter webs every morning. The virulence of the attacks you face is strong evidence that those behind the CAGW scam fear your facts.
You know you are hitting where it hurts when they start spewing venom.
Very few warmist do anything but post links to the SS (SkS) and they when you laugh at the propaganda start hurling vulgar language. Half the time they do not even know that the MET and IPCC have (reluctantly) acknowledged that there has been no warming for 17 years.
I’d like to add my note of appreciation along with the others. Thank you Steven.
Standing against the thought police, the e-terrorists, the climate nazis is no easy task. Far easier to mindlessly parrot what we are being programmed to think: “Global warming is real and man is the cause.” Repeat it often enough and people start to believe it.
Thank you Steven for dedicating your obvious talents to uncovering the charlatans of catastrophic climate change. If you had instead dedicated yourself to making money, I am sure you would be much richer but the world would be poorer for it. I find it stunning the amount of time, intellect and labor donated gratis by skeptics in fighting for truth in climate science. It lifts my spirits just to contemplate it.
I was about to say the same thing.
Of note is the fact the skeptic blogs won a lot of the blog awards. That must really hurt.
….
Thank you Steve. I am sure the Warmists would be very surprised at how many skeptics were members of Greenpeace, WWF, Nature Conservancy and other conservation groups, when they actually WERE conservation groups and not eco nuts.
I have spent a lot of time picking up and then hauling bags of trash out of wilderness areas and caves.
The responses I’ve gotten to the blog awards is that mere popularity and approval by the ignorant masses is to be expected. Only the self-certified scientists’ opinions and obscure blogs count.
It is the ‘ignorant masses’ that vote IMAGE
Perhaps during this next Little Ice Age, that little used word, illustrated above, will again come in to frequent use.
Ngibonga kakhulu, mnumzane !!
.. wow !! .. Google Translate knows Zulu !!
Streetcred said: “Thank you very much, sir.”
Please keep up the good work. Much appreciated.
I found your site a couple weeks ago, and it is now part of my daily internet readings. You have solid insights and the gift to communicate them well.
Go back into his archives a year or few and start reading. A trove of treasures.
Too bad those Eeeeevil Koch Bro’s can’t throw a few shekels your way. 😉
all that….
…and the fact you really enjoy making them look like total fools
🙂
I think we’re getting to the heart of the matter here… and I love it!
Thanks heaps Steve – I check out this site at least twice a day for my dose of sanity
Thank you, Steve Goddard, you are speaking for all of us. We appreciate your work very much!
Keep on batting against the Warmistas, we are all behind you.
Well said Steve. I too, growing up enjoyed the great outdoors. I do my part keeping my garbage to a min. and recycle a great deal when all my neighbor’s basically trash it. However, with the whole “environmental” movement push, I have reacted and tried to push back on them. I continue to do my part, but I believe the problem is what the public DON’T know, and that is the real problem. The LSM just don’t give people the whole story, conveniently leaving out many important details, and that is frustrating to me.
Keep up the work, you have many followers, who do their part too, trying to get the message out that CO2 is not bad, but a benefit, as is cheep abundant energy.
perhaps one day, that BIG oil cheque will come in, however, like you, we get up in the morning, and work our a** off all day to make ends meet.
Gook work, keep it up!
To hear a voice of reason in this insane world makes my day. Thank you.
I see- oil money bad, but government money good. Got it.
Actually to be precise,
Personal wealth BAD
Oil, Bankster and Government money GOOD.
The warmist completely miss the fact that the oil/banking cartel are the ones behind CAGW.

You are a great American. You have my utmost respect and admiration. Never give in.
I couldn’t have expressed it better, Steve. The global warming pseudo-scientists are a dangerous group. They are harming themselves and humanity with their alarmist proclamations. They’ve become completely irrational.
Thanks Kirk!
I used to be an eco-minimalist, trying my best to reduce my energy usage, buying those silly curly light bulbs etc. Following the mantra but with the climategate emails coming out and ‘hide the decline’. My personal warming guilt got lifted. When I needed a new truck I went out bought a big 4×4 not feeling any guilt.
Ditto to all above. Thank you for all your time, effort and humour, Steven. I look forward to receiving your emails each day.
Congratulations, Steve.
The responses to this post demonstrate you have effectively connected with a growing population of rational thinkers who are sick and tired of lies and distortions that emanate from major government agencies, university research centers, UN kleptocrats, and fellow-traveler NGOs, all faithfully parroted by uncurious, megaphonic media talking heads.
You have a particular knack for finding and presenting DATA that knock the pins out from under the house-of-cards fantasies and distortions of the Warmistas.
I read your posts several times daily. I appreciate your droll sense of humor and your pin-point accuracy at targets of hypocrisy and deceipt.
I’m a career geologist and it frustrates me no end that people are so easily swayed by political pitches that exploit human ignorance of history. “Unprecedented”, my ass! Earth history is millennial (at minimum), not annual or decadal. Your skill at harvesting contemporary news reports of past weather events is invaluable in providing appropriate context to the bogus claims of “catastrophy”.
Keep up the good work.
I’d still like to buy you a beer some day, one Colorado Front Ranger to another.
Let’s do that! I have only been to Boulder once since it was destroyed by last year’s thousand year flood.
I don’t normally attend these events (Conf World Affairs at CU Boulder) but Judith Curry will be involved in several sessions. This one on Friday at noon is intriguing:
5401 Climate Change: It’s About the Data, Not the Politics
12:00-12:50 on Friday April 11, 2014
UMC 235
Panelists: •Judith Curry
Discussant: Kevin Trenberth
I don’t know what it means to be “discussant”, but I have visions of Curry on stage addressing a chair, ala Clint Eastwood
Any chance you might attend?
Possibly. I will get back to you by E-mail in a couple of days.
Great
Judith has been one of the adults in this on-going debate

You’re part of the reason the Warmists are losing.
Even with all their Big Oil, Big Government funding…they can’t suppress the truth.
Keep up the good work.
Best blog post yet Steve. Stay in the fight!
I am environmentalist given that I worked my buns off to grow rainbow trout using water from the tidal reaches of the river Thames in Greenwich, London (UK). This initiative contributed to the return of Atlantic salmon to the river.
The Thames was a commercial salmon river until 1815 when the discharge of sewage into the river killed all the fish. Today the Thames is much less polluted than it was in the 18th century.
Yet I am in favor of building at least one nuclear power plant each day so don’t think of me as a one of those pinko bed wetting “Water Mellons”.
Camel,
Since when has being a conservationist had anything to do with the mindset of the GoreBull Warming zombies?
Many if not all ‘Deniers’ are also conservationists. I use that word to describe those who saw the nasty pollution of the first half of the 20th century and wanted to do something about it in a rational manner vs those who are eco-nuts because it is fashionable or ‘Politically Correct.’ Those who are just following the crowd or looking for a cause so they can rebel against Mommy and Daddy.
Ok, but what kind of nuclear? The essential problem with current mainstream nuclear is that it was developed with weaponry in mind. The UK was the leading force in atomic power (and supersonic aviation) until it lost its balls. But UK nuclear technology was posited upon the production of Plutonium for nuclear weapons. Hence fast-breeders, etc. Plutonium is possibly the most toxic atom known to man.
Other nuclear technologies are more promising and vastly less environmentally damaging. It’s a crying shame that in our current enfeebled state it’s India and China that are taking the lead on Thorium reactors — that’s what happens when you derive a ruling class schooled in Oxbridge PPE bollox.
Bring back the optimism, decry the millenarian Tolkienesque misanthropic pessimism of the corrupt “environmentalists”. Laud the engineers and technologists instead of treating them like lepers. Let’s enjoy tomorrow…
My 2p.
Considering the USA developed thorium to the pilot plant stage in the 1950s I really feel like kicking a bunch of politicians in the rump.
We should have been close to 100% thorium nuclear generation for our electric needs and in our third or fourth generation engineering. Using petrochemicals for fuel is a crying shame. Think plastics, soaps, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, pesticides, detergents, flooring, solvents, and epoxies, synthetic fibers, rubber… ANd we BURN the stuff??? We could be using thorium.
Meanwhile we have a bunch of idiots in D.C. practicing crony-capitalism and further crippling the country. What are they going to do? Move to China or India or Brazil in ten years after they completely wreck the place?
Excellent.
Children & grandchildren, Steve.
Truth, honesty & honour.
March on man.
Keep throwing the shit out of the cave, steve. There is no-one doing like you and it must take an enormous effort. Thanks
“Fight the Good fight”, Steven. You are not alone.
Your work is impressive by all means!
You have my vote, Mr Goddard. I don’t agree with you on abortion, guns, or radical liberal economics. But your ponderings and daily squibs against the corporatist climateers are a must-read for me. Keep the flag flying. I’m all in.
It is about time people start figuring out what we DO agree on. Most of us serfs can agree that the Banksters and multinational corporate cartels are fleecing the little guy. That we need to pay attention to the REAL environmental issues. (I hate monoculture farming, especially corn monoculture and the useless cutting of trees to burn instead of coal.) Most liberals I have met have no problem with the small business entrepreneur and agree that we need to pay attention to the economy and get people working at reasonable jobs.
There are much bigger problems out there to address and minimum wage (We are competing with China**) gay rights, abortion… are not those issues but we keep getting those thrown at us at election time.
** As of 1 May 2013, the highest monthly minimum wage in China is 1,600 yuan($265.64 US Dollar). The lowest minimum wage was 1,010 yuan ( $165.62US Dollar ). US minimum wage is ~$1250/month @ $7.25/hr. That is what American workers are competing against. Raising the minimum wage with the World trade Organization treaty in effect does nothing but send more jobs to China and bankrupts the small businesses we still have.
I too am an avid reader and really admire your skills at mining and posting the myriad of data sets out there. Do you mentor anyone out there? Your knowledge needs to be disseminated. This is not easy to do.
Thanks for all your work.
I find it odd that alarmists who also aren’t being compensated by anyone to air their views, assume that any skeptic that also airs their views publicly must be in the pay of big oil.
Testament to their lack of rational thinking skills and/or their desperation in attempting to uphold their delusions.
Or perhaps its they fact that they ARE being paid and can not see anyone doing the investigative work for free. (In the 1980s the Boston Global was running ads for nuclear power plant protestors $10/ hr to protest the Seabrook Nuclear plant. So I have reason to think the Warmists posting are paid. Government Sock puppets are known to exist.)
