Obama Wanted $8 Per Gallon Gas

Last night, Obama took credit for low gas prices, which are helping families.

And thanks to lower gas prices and higher fuel standards, the typical family this year should save $750 at the pump.

But he tried to raise gas prices to $8 per gallon. He simply failed at his effort to screw the middle class and poor.

TESTIFYING BEFORE the House Energy and Commerce Committee last week, Energy Secretary Steven Chu was asked about something he said in September. “Somehow,” the Nobel laureate had told The Wall Street Journal, “we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” At the time, gasoline in Europe was going for around $8 a gallon.

He also wanted to make electricity prices skyrocket, and has had more success in that area.

I submit that the current energy policy is not being done through ignorance of the subject matter or in a deluded effort to save the planet from Climate Change, but is specifically intended to create an energy crisis. The shut down of the Yucca Mountain facility makes this obvious, since nuclear power cannot be a scapegoat for the religion of Global Warming. When the realities of the Carbon Cap & Trade being implemented by executive order and an illegal EPA are realized, virtually everything will increase in cost at a time that our economy can ill afford another hit. Of course government, always ready to deny responsibility, will blame the energy industry for gouging the public and senatorial investigative show trials will be aired ad nauseum preordained to reach the conclusion that only the government can run it properly.

  2. Gail Combs says:

Obummer is just trying to get the prices to match the inflation from the Federal Reserve. After all they more than doubled the money supply so the gas prices should also more than double – SIMPLES…

We are currently engaged in a test of this proposition. Over the past four years, the Federal Reserve has more than tripled the monetary base, a key determinant of money supply. ~ John Williams of ShadowStat.

  3. Scarface says:

I’ll show you what we pay in Europe, in The Netherlands. It’s terrible.

    Electricity: € ct 5.50 /kWh -> € ct 6.66 (after 21% VAT) + € ct 14.47 energytax = € ct 21.13 /kwH
    Gas: € ct 30.00/kWh -> € ct 36.30 (after 21% VAT) + € ct 23.12 energytax = € ct 59.42 /m3

    A modal family of 4 in a regular house uses 4300 kWh/yr and 1600 m3/yr

    So:
    4300 x €0,2113 = €908,59
    1600x €0,5942 = €950.72
Total: €1859.31, of which €322,69 is VAT, and €992,13 is ENERGYTAX for crying out loud!
(in USD: Total: $2,152.90, of which $373.67 is VAT, and $1,148.79 ENERGYTAX

More than half is VAT and energytax. Obama wants this too, I guess.

    Further costs:
€394.61 network costs gas and electricity
€131.76 standing charge gas and electricity

    Grand Total: €2,385.68/yr = € 198,81/month

The green energy hype + CO2-scare is costing consumers a fortune.
    Our economies overhere are doomed.

Correct. You would think the policy was written by China and the BRICS countries…

Chasing the Dragon: Clinton’s China Policy

Don’t forget that VP Al Gore fired Dr Happer from his job as Director of Energy Research at the Department of Energy in 1993. This was after USA signed the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change on 12/06/92 but before the traitors, Clinton and Gore, could convince Congress to ratify the document. It was ratified 21/03/94.

Happer said, “I had the privilege of being fired by Al Gore, since I refused to go along with his alarmism. I did not need the job that badly.” He said in 1993, “I was told that science was not going to intrude on policy.”

Director of Energy Research at the Department of Energy (1990-1993), presented some of his key findings on climate change. One of just four scientists invited to address the forum, Dr. Happer, who supervised all DOE work on climate change, is a climate crisis skeptic. In his presentation, he noted that 650 prominent international scientists, including both former and current IPCC participants, have challenged the claims made by the 52 scientists who authorized the U.N. panel’s report. He also called CO2, a compound singled out by the IPCC as a major contributor to global warming, as, in fact, a beneficial compound essential for life on earth…

Scarface, would you please do me a favor and write, if you know, the approximate current conversion from British currency to the American dollar.
      Thank you

      • Scarface says:

If I understand it correctly: GBP 100 = USD 151.13

Or do you mean British energy prices in USD?

Thank you Sf., That was all I needed.
It gives me adequate info to equate costs there to ours.
I have been watching costs in various parts of Europe and elsewhere, and tragically many are suffering not only financially, but physically in serious ways including death.
It is even more tragic that much of this could have been avoided.
          Best wishes.

This is why Europe is in a depression that is getting worse and worse and now Russia is being forced to cut energy exports to Europe thanks to NATO aggression games.

    • Gail Combs says:

Also because the EU can no longer afford to pay Russia for the Natural Gas. Also Russia was rerouting through Turkey because of the theft of Natural Gas from the pipeline.

Ukraine Pays Overdue Gazprom Bill For Russian Natural Gas
      12/24/2014

Ukraine has paid off the $1.65 billion it owed Russian natural gas giant Gazprom , less than 24 hours of the Russian energy ministry threatened to shut down deliveries if Naftogaz missed payment….

      More recently:
Russia Cuts Off Ukraine Gas Supply To 6 European Countries
      01/14/2015

Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian state energy giant Gazprom to cut supplies to and through Ukraine amid accusations, according to The Daily Mail, that its neighbor has been siphoning off and stealing Russian gas. Due to these “transit risks for European consumers in the territory of Ukraine,” Gazprom cut gas exports to Europe by 60%, plunging the continent into an energy crisis “within hours.” Perhaps explaining the explosion higher in NatGas prices (and oil) today, gas companies in Ukraine confirmed that Russia had cut off supply; and six countries reported a complete shut-off of Russian gas. The EU raged that the sudden cut-off to some of its member countries was “completely unacceptable,” but Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller later added that Russia plans to shift all its natural gas flows crossing Ukraine to a route via Turkey; and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak stated unequivocally, “the decision has been made.”

….Gazprom plans to deliver the fuel to Turkey’s border with Greece and “it’s up to the EU to decide what to do” with it further, according to Sefcovic…..

For Diesel and Petrol, prices in The Netherlands are now:

    Diesel: €0.562 + €0.482 consumer-tax + €0.219 VAT = € 1.263/l = €4,78/gallon = $5.53/gallon
    Petrol: €0.514 + €0.766 consumer-tax + €0.269 VAT = € 1.549/l = €5.86/gallon = $6.79/gallon

Government makes diesel 2.2 times more expensive and petrol 3 times more expensive!!
Consumer-tax (or ‘accijns’ as it’s called overhere,) is equivalent to robbery imho.

End of june 2014 we paid:

    1.519/l for diesel = $6.66/gallon
    1.859/l for petrol = $8.15/gallon

Keep on fracking in the USA please!!

  6. SMS says:

By shutting off the gulf coast to drilling and putting the Middle East in flames our dumb as@ president could have easily have had his wish of $8/gal gas.

If not for the American petroleum companies and the success of horizontal drilling, combining that with fracing technology, oil output from the US would have been in decline; driving up the price of gas at the pump.

Oil shale production has a very steep decline so we will probably have higher prices as the drilling slows down and production wanes. The Saudis are flexing their economic muscles by increasing/maintaining production and dropping the oil price. It may hurt our oil production here in the US but it could cause political upheaval in Venezuela and Russia. And this could affect the Middle East as well.

The president may still get his wish of $8/gal gas. It appears to me that the Middle East is about ready for a big eruption. The Straits of Hormuz could be threatened soon and Iran is close to getting the bomb. Again, all thanks to the dumb as@ in the White House.

  7. Eric Simpson says:

Ok, I’m going to bring this to discussion to “our” because Romney seems to be seriously talking about running again and just yesterday… drumroll .. he went full bore leftists on us on climate change: http://weaselzippers.us/211685-mitt-romney-does-the-rare-triple-flip-flop-global-warming-is-real-and-a-major-problem/

I remember during the campaign hearing talk of a top Romney adviser had advocated raising gas taxes by $2 a gallon. That made sense considering Romney’s history with climate change and his hiring of John Holdren. I also found this, granted, by a progressive blog: http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2012/03/22/450044/flashback-unlike-obama-romney-actually-raised-gas-taxes/

Romney apparently raised gas taxes by 400%. That and Romney’s new profound agreement with the left on climate change is consistent with his progressive view of himself:

    • Eric Simpson says:

Sorry for the typos in my post. I thought I had proofed! And sorry in advance for any typos in this post!

Anyway, to bring it back to Romney and climate change and the full spectrum view of the progressive Romney, here’s a 2 minute video that sums up the steaming scat that Romney has been serving up to conservatives, and to everyone really:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fv4LQKFplGY&info=RomneyBS

An excerpt from the above video:

      \\
On Fox, Bret Baier says to Romney:

“You have been on both sides of ‘some’ issues. There’s video of you going back years talking about different issues, CLIMATE CHANGE, ABORTION, IMMIGRATION, GAY RIGHTS. How can voters trust what they hear from you today?” ??

      Answer: they can’t.

Btw, Romney responds to Bret’s question with his smirky dog look saying that Bret is wrong, but then on every issue noted we see on the video Romney explicitly taking the opposite view of what he professed was then in 2012 his view.

    • Eric Simpson says:

And forget the “Ron Paul” title of the video above. The video has nothing to do with Ron Paul it’s just that unfortunately it appears that a while ago a Paul supporter posted the video.

  9. Streetcred says:

Even when the socialist progressives fail, they claim victory … we had the same BS here in Australia … to this day, the Liebor Party still claims their disastrous policies and reckless spending as a success. And what’s more, the language is the same that Obama used leading to the conclusion that the international socialists/communists are all singing from the same hymn book.

Muslims have nothing to gain using violence. Just by having more babies they will win the elections in every EU country in 20 or 30 years. The only terrorism that exists all over the world is State terrorism to take away our rights. It’s not cheap to be a terrorist. Follow the Money.

        • Neal S says:

Muslims do have something to gain by violence. Typically a muslim has no guarantee that his good will outweigh his bad and he can be admitted to paradise. But they are promised that if they die as martyrs in performing terrorist acts in the cause of Islam, that not only are they guaranteed admission, but they can then take family members with them. http://www.fortressoffaith.org/blog/2015/01/09/terrorist-attack-in-paris-shows-true-face-of-islam/

        • Robertv says:

You would think that ALL Muslim men would want to go to paradise. It is all what a man desires . So it seems Muslim men don’t like sex and/or are bad muslims and don’t believe the word of All?h.

Most politicians would sell their soul for less.

        • Neal S says:

Most politicians HAVE sold their souls for less. And yes, there are a number of Muslims who are not as ‘good’ as their terrorist brethren. Then there are those who DO think their good will outweigh their bad, and would like to gamble their eternal soul on that. But it is not my job to provide reasons why there are fewer lone-wolf muslim terrorists at this time. I have simply provided a disproof of your assertion that “Muslims have nothing to gain using violence.” I also disagree with “The only terrorism that exists all over the world is State terrorism to take away our rights.” I think you will find it hard to find a nation where there has not been one or more people being victimized, brutalized, or killed, all for the sake of Islam.
