Are Our Leaders Finally Getting Serious About Stopping Imaginary Global Warming?

Government leaders hope to stop imaginary global warming, and simultaneously prevent dark shadows from forming behind clouds, via the use of a carbon tax.

A Carbon Tax to Combat Global Warming is Getting a Fresh Look | The Fiscal Times

Only problems with this I can see are that the planet is warming, CO2 has almost nothing to do with climate, and the fact that China controls global CO2 emissions – making anything the west does completely pointless.

AGW is one of four, unassailable Nobel Prize-winning falsehoods disguised as consensus scientific facts after Joseph Stalin emerged victorious from WWII and united nations (UN) and national academies of science (NAS) into a giant, worldwide Orwellian Ministry of Consensus Scientific (UN)Truths!

    • That is interesting; since they put UN in front of most of their departments and initiatives, perhaps they should call their answer to Orwell’s MiniTru …

      “UNTRU”

That would be one thing perhaps everyone can agree on!

  2. You mean the Earth is not warming.

    • Governments could easily stop Global Warming…

CTRL-ALT-DEL the Models, and cut funding…

    • Ernest Bush says:

The earth has obviously been warming for a long time. Any current warming or cooling is so small any comments one way or the other about it are irrelevant against the 0.4 degrees C margin of error NOAA admits to.

Observationally, there are signs that the earth might be cooling, but nothing in the satellite record is accurate enough to say anything with high confidence temperature wise. Obviously, runaway warming caused by CO2 has not happened and there is no evidence this will occur. I’m betting on cooling within my lifetime (I’m 71), but it is still a bet.

If there was a serious problem the World powers would stop funding AGW research, since it’s proven(sarc), and invest this billions plus billions more into renewable energy research.

  4. John Smith says:

you are a refugee from Maryland
where there is a ‘storm’ water tax
you know the special evil stuff similar to rain, that fails from big dark scary clouds during climate change induced storms
    scary stuff must be taxed
so that only rich people do it

  5. shazaam says:

The “progressives” are *ALL* well aware that every tax and regulation acts as a brake to the economy.

Give that they are committed to destruction of the economy, these actions are rational in their massively twisted world-view.

I’d rather they (the “progressives”) skipped off to live in a cave in the manner in which they chose, rather than (in their massive arrogance) to try to dictate to everyone else how they may or may not live.

    • Gail Combs says:

The one point I have never understood is given, socialism works until you run out of other people’s wealth, why in heck do you want to kill the Golden Goose?

We have had socialism in one form or another since the ancient Greeks and before.Plato and Lycurgus, to mention no others, have been permanent influences in molding communist theory. So it is not like socialism has not had sufficient trials over the centuries.

      For example:

According to tradition, Sparta was the handiwork of Lycurgus; … This original lawgiver, on whose persuasive powers the socialist laws of Sparta rested, is indeed a shadowy figure — a kind of cross between Moses and King Arthur. If we accept Plutarch’s account, Lycurgus was oppressed by the glaring contrast between riches and poverty, the vast number of poor and landless on the one hand, and, on the other, the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few individuals — almost a Marxian vision. And so — although surely external circumstances must have reinforced his arguments — he persuaded the Spartans to agree to a new distribution of lands on a basis of equality, and by other measures he weaned them from the love of silver and gold, and led them to adopt that harsh simplicity of life which the very name of Sparta has come to connote. Plutarch’s description is of interest because, waiving the question of its historical accuracy, it gives a very adequate definition of the ideal communistic state, as ideally imagined by countless later generations. In general, he says,

he trained his fellow-citizens to have neither the wish nor the ability to live for themselves; but like bees they were to make themselves always integral parts of the whole community, clustering together about their leader, almost beside themselves with enthusiasm and noble ambition, and to belong wholly to their country.

…..Whether or not Lycurgus succeeded in abolishing “all the mass of pride, envy, crime and luxury” which flowed from the previous state of inequality — indeed, whether or not Lycurgus ever existed — Sparta, with her remarkable system of government and institutions, certainly did exist, and these are in a way something of a portent. The symmetry of her constitution, her clear consciousness of the end for which, in Sparta at least, the state existed, the rigorous discipline imposed on the individual with a view to the realization of these ends, have, taken together, provoked the eulogies of many simple-minded enthusiasts. The beauty and the stability of Sparta became, to take but one example, something of an obsession with the ineffective Mably. On the other hand, Sir Frederick Pollock has suggested — and one’s heart warms to him — that the Spartans were the most odious impostors in the whole history of antiquity. In any event, the Spartan state was probably unique in some respects in the record of political institutions.

It is difficult to recall any other state in which the individual was so completely subordinated to the general ends of the community — and such subordination is, of course, of the very essence of socialism in its general sense, as distinguished from that species of socialism generally referred to as communism. From the day of his birth, when he might be not merely subordinated but suppressed for the good of the state, the young Spartan continued to be disposed of in one way or another until death opened up for him a way of escape. The common education, which began at the age of seven, was wholly designed to make good soldiers, to teach men to suffer uncomplainingly the extremes of heat and of cold, of hunger and of pain, and in each was implanted the conviction that he belonged not to himself, but to the state.….

Some how I do not see the pampered spoiled useful idiots who call themselves socialists today embracing a life that starts out with being exposed to the elements at birth (well not quite) to make sure you are hardy enough to be worth the effort to raise and goes downhill from there.

        Socialism since the ancient Greeks.——-
Seems like the current Greeks are having their problems

They are now celebrating their shallow victory, which will come to an
end in about one day when Germany will not extend credit and they simply
will not have money, and will be out of the Euro zone and will start to panic.
What will they do now that someone shot their golden goose, which was dying anyway
A good lesson for all of us.

GAIL, when I was teaching I developed an alternate way of determining the molar volume
of a gas. Never saw it done like this. Would you mind having a quick look?

  6. As I understand it the Fed/EPA goal is to reduce CO2 output from the power generation sector by 30%. Some say reduce coal fired CO2 by 30%. They are not the same.

30% reduction in power generation CO2 times 38% of US CO2 contribution times 19% global CO2 contribution = 2.27% reduction in global CO2. Whoopee.

    Eliminating half of coal fired generation: 0.5 * 0.245 * 0.19 = 0.0233 or 2.33% of global CO2 burden.

Massive economic disruption for an inconsequential solution to a non-existent problem.

If the hard left/socialist Syriza Party and the hard left/socialist EU get into a food fight, who wins? And, should we expect a hard left/socialist solution to this problem that they created? What would that solution be?
      …….
      E.M.Smith says:
      @Sera:

Yeah, I’m enjoying that aspect too. The very hard left socialists have run out of money and are asking the hard left socialists to pony up some more… Strange how even hard left socialists can become a bit capitalist then…

Greece is aware of the Cyprus Haircut and wants no part of the Banksters confiscating their savings. Portugal go to the polls in October, Spain in December and both are a bit underwater financially. link This puts the EU (germany and France) between a rock and a hard place. Mean while the great renewable energy experiment is backfiring into the faces of the politicians in the EU…

No wonder Obummer and his globalist friends are pushing for a CAGW agreement in Paris this year. The whole ball of wax is falling apart. (China is not in any great shape either.)

And if it all goes wrong they’ll take you to war. O I forgot, your country already is at war. The War on Terror . The war that took your (our) freedom away (Patriot Act). And they can’t even destroy some pick up Toyotas in the dessert.
And meanwhile Europe is invaded in the same way as the Roman Empire.

  8. Robertv says:

They want to use a Free-market credit system where there is no Free-market only a government controlled system.

Where there is NO freedom (Big Brother) you can’t have a Free-market.

“Unless of course the real goal is for global government to take over every aspect of our lives.”

The goal of all governments is to take over every aspect of your life. The goal is power over you. World government is like the one ring to rule them all, but your present government in the USA is already a raging tyranny.

“… making anything the west does completely pointless.”

No, absolutely not. The sharp point is the bilions on billions they would then be able to take from the news-fed guilt-tripped and clueless public. They (the west corporations) definitely has a point… to stab the public with. They know co2 is but a ploy. The governments just want even more and more taxes flowing from the former that passes it all to the public. I can’t say public what should happen to them all.
