For the past two years, most of the US has received well above normal precipitation. None of the things they warned us about are happening. There is no corn belt drought, no southwest drought, no Texas drought.
So experts pretend they never said any of those things, and turn their attention to California. And if California receives heavy El Nino rains this winter, they will blame them on global warming.
So what are they going to blame the snow in Yosemite National Park a few days ago on I wonder? Drivers going to see this wonder were warned to use chains, so it wasn’t a powdering on the peaks.
I wonder if they care.
If Obama can say it is “the hottest year ever” like he did this spring with the Potomac frozen over and the record late cherry blossoms, what difference does reality make?
One of the problems the Progressives are having out in the hinterland is the increasingly obvious disconnect between their world view and reality. Unfortunately, it is that disconnect that makes the Elites more dangerous to the rest of the human race.

First the drought ball is thrown into the air, then the Hurricane ball, followed by the Tornado ball. Then add the Flooding ball and the Snowball, and you get the idea.
As long as all are “in play” and the solution of “Taxation” is defined as the panacea for every eventuality, the juggling act continues, with your pockets being emptied along the way.

Now they want to tell us the interglacial has been “stable”, until now. And no matter how many lines of evidence are presented refuting this nonsensical notion, these idots still cling bitterly to the notion of climate stability prior to 1979.
It was actually quite stable from 10,000 to about 3000 years ago.

Andy, you likely know this, but remember that graphic is fairly blind to less then 300 years resolution, so, as variable as it is. it can easily miss large decadal trends.
Yep, there were quite probably much higher short-term peaks than what is shown here through the whole of the Holocene.
A 17-26 year zero trend period isn’t going to show up any more than the short term warming of 20 or so years that the whole “global warming/climate change/whateveritisnow” façade is built around.
There is however, no doubt that we are near the cooler end of this current interglacial.
It has been remarkably stable, for an interglacial. Very long, as well. Any rational person looking at the record would be far more worried about the overdue cooling, than the hypothetical warming. A friend of mine has a theory that there are aliens watching us right now in awe of our foresight, having started to actively warm the planet just in time to save ourselves from freezing to death.
LA is the center of the universe so if it is hot and dry there, instead of understanding they are in Hell, they think the entire planet is LA. Which is rather aggravating since these numbskulls could easily get in their cars and drive 250 miles east or north and discover that global warming isn’t happening anymore.
They could get the same experience by driving south to San Diego, also. While visiting the Botanic Gardens north of town and away from the coast, recently, I noticed the high was around 82 degrees. Closer to the ocean it never got above the mid 70’s. Just another great day in San Diego, if a little dry. That’s with a warm water pool still sitting off the coast.
Back in the 1970’s we decided to go to the beach from blazing hot Yuma, discovered that same 70’s temperature on a cloudy day, and the water was 64 degrees. We spent the day at Seaport Village, instead, and finished it by spending dinner at Anthony’s Grotto while watching the sun set through the oceanside window wall. Today, you still need a jacket at night if you are near the water.
Only Los Angeles beaches get hot in the Pacific summer. Maybe it is Hell even in the temperature sense. The closest I would care to get to that town anymore is sneaking up on Disneyland from the south with Grandchildren.
