The New NASA

The damaged NASA of Gavin Schmidt and James Hansen, believed that a change of 0.0001 mole fraction CO2 in the Earth’s atmosphere would destroy all life on Earth.

NASA Climate Scientist Says “We’re Toast” – CBS News

The new NASA is dropping the junk science of Hansen and Schmidt, and believes in space exploration – and that life can exist in a wide variety of environments.

Farewell Gavin. You won’t be missed.

    Tony, you made Breitbart.
It took the election of Trump to get rid of Gavin, but he will be like a wack a mole and resurface somewhere else.

    • R. Shearer says:

Maybe he’ll turn up in Syria or Iraq to do some Muslim outreach with ISIS.

      • Colorado Wellington says:

I couldn’t find the NASA web pages on the greatest Muslim achievements in science and space exploration. It seems they moved it here:

        http://www.islamicbulletin.org/newsletters/issue_5/achievements.aspx

        • SxyxS says:

Well((though i suppose you are well aware of it.))

          These are barely Muslim achievements.

1)Al Razi was not a muslim.
He was opposed by the clerics because he opposed islam & used evil haram alkohol as medicine..
((while rivers of vine are to be found in muslim paradise, according to hadith :)-another chapter from:Islam vs own rules amd logic

          2)Al Chwarizimi
was obviously not a muslim as
In the year he was born there was no islam in his region.
Maybe he converted/ or was forced to convert
          when islam arrived.

3)Many muslim algebra “achievements”(just like the numeric invention of zero) were simply stolen from hindhus/bhuddists when muslims “enriched” india in the 12th century((with the purpose of killing all bhuddists ))
and burned down nalanda and almost all of the 9 million books there.

          • Colorado Wellington says:

Well, I knew the list was no good because it didn’t have any Muslim rocket scientists or Nobel Prize winners. I blame the incoming Trump appointees for losing the NASA outreach pages on purpose.

          • SxyxS says:

The list isn’t good anyway as (considering this are the achievements of centuries and still most were not achieved by muslims)

but if you are searching for nobel prize winners among muslims i wish you best luck
as there are only very very few of them and hard to find,
and most of those very few have won((joke incoming )won the noble peace price.
Scientifical achievements are almost non existent.
i remember reading some years ago((2007 or 2009) in german magazin focus that the entire arab peninsula delivered less than 30 patents in a full year((thats less what Edison and Tesla did on their own in a good year)

          • RAH says:

Yes, Yassar Arafat, getting the Nobel “Peace” prize is the most recent I know of. That I believe, was the beginning of that particular Nobel Prize becoming the totally disrespected joke it has become.

          • neal s says:

I believe that BHO also got the ‘peace prize’ and although he previously claimed to NOT be a muslim, now that he is no longer POTUS, he may be willing to actually admit that he really is one.

  9. Sunsettommy says:

GISS, was never founded for climate science. It was founded to support NASA in space exploration, as stated here by Dr. Hansen himself:

“The GISS formula is designed to yield high research productivity and a flexibility that allows research directions to shift as NASA objectives develop. Thus an initial emphasis on astrophysics and lunar and planetary science has evolved into a focus on understanding the causes and consequences of global climate change on Earth, of direct relevance to the first objective in NASA’s mission “…to understand and protect our home planet.”

    https://www.giss.nasa.gov/research/news/20080303/

    See this line?

“Thus an initial emphasis on astrophysics and lunar and planetary science”

That was true from 1961-1981,when Dr. Jastrow was the Director.

This line shows the CHANGE in the mission to the surface of the planet itself:

“has evolved into a focus on understanding the causes and consequences of global climate change on Earth..”

    That occurred under Dr. Hansen,

    1981-2013

DR. Jastrow was never into climate change stuff when he was Director,a life long Astronomer, was focused on space exploration.

NASA’s new role should be the detection and deflection of asteroids/comets that may
strike the Earth. We see reports of such fly-bys now occasionally — even one hit could wipe us out.

    • RAH says:

They’ve been doing the detection part for years. That’s how they know when the close flybys of objects are occurring. NEO (Near Earth Objects) detection and calculation of their orbits is a massive and complex problem.
They have started with the largest since they could be the most deadly and are working their way down in size over time. The problem is even an object of less than 100 meters in size has the potential to wipe out a good sized city given the right circumstances. Think about the massive amount of space they must survey then calculating the orbits of the objects in it and then figuring how the orbits of those objects can be perturbed by other NEOs and you just scratch the surface of what is required.

And don’t forget the Sun. It too has the potential to do a lot of harm to our modern civilization. Just imagine the US 1 week without electricity. One week without this blog.

  11. What NOAA needs to do is convert all the temperature data to its original unadjusted values.

  12. Oliver K. Manuel says:

I am grateful the 2009 Climategate emails have finally convinced the public NASA cannot be trusted.

Here are a few examples of NASA’s earlier lies:

_ 1. Hydrogen-fusion powers the Sun, rather than neutron-repulsion in the Sun’s pulsar core.

_ 2. Hydrogen is the Sun’s fuel, rather than the most abundant waste product routinely discarded in the solar wind.

_ 3. A giant cloud of hydrogen collapsed to form the Solar System rather than the Sun exploded as a supernova ~5.1 Ga ago and fresh supernova debris formed the planets.

_ 4. Nucleogenetic isotopic anomalies in the solar system were injected here from a nearby supernova or carried here in “presolar grains” from other stars.

Without the 2009 Climategate scandal, nobody would have believed NASA capable of purposefully deceiving the public and withholding experimental from the Galileo probe that confirmed the presence of “strange xenon” in Jupiter and the formation of an iron-rich Sun on the collapsed core of the supernova that birthed the Sun ~5.1 Ga ago.

  13. Oliver K. Manuel says:

American taxpayers invested more than a billion dollars ($1,000,000,000) in NASA to get samples of the Moon returned here for analysis in 1969.

Careful isotopic analyses of noble gases implanted in lunar soils from the Sun revealed 1. Nine-theoretical stages of mass-dependent fraction in the Sun that selectively enriched the abundance of a lightweight isotope of mass (mL) relative to that of a heavier isotope of mass (mL) by a factor (f), where

    f = [(mH)/(mL)]^9/2, and

    2. An internal composition of the Sun consisting mostly of the seven most abundant elements in the Earth<b: Fe, O, Si, Ni, S, Mg and Ca

See: "Solar abundances of the elements," Meteoritics 18, 209-222 (1983): http://tinyurl.com/224kz4

The paper concluded the Sun is the core of the supernova that birthed the solar system and predicted that the Galileo probe of Jupiter would observe “strange xenon” there made by the r- and p- processes in the outer He-rich later of the supernova that formed Jupiter.

American taxpayers spent another billion dollars to get the Challenger probe to Jupiter in 1996. Xenon collected as the probe fell into Jupiter revealed evidence of “strange xenon” there. NASA refused to release the data until finally confronted while being video recorded by CSPAN News in 1998. This video show a clip of tgeNASA Administrator finally releasing the Jupiter data that confirmed the validity of the 1983 paper:

    • Oliver K. Manuel says:

Scientists at several top-ranked labs measured and agreed xenon isotopes in the solar wind, from the top of the solar photosphere, are enriched ~3.5% per mass unit from Xe-124 to Xe-136.

That degree of mass dependent fractionation requires nine (9) theoretical stages of mass fractionation, each enriching the abundance of the lighter isotope of mass (mL) relative to the abundance of the heavier isotope of mass (mH) by a factor (f) of

      f =[(mH)/(mL)]^0.5

Nine (9) theoretical stages of mass dependent fractionation would thus enrich the Xe-130/Xe-131 ratio by (131/130)^0.5×9 = (131/130)^4.5 = 1.035 or 3.5 %

There is no other viable explanation for this experimental observation.

  14. RickS says:

Since NASA is “toast”, put them in a “TOASTER” and FINISH-THE-JOB !

    DEFUND [ NASA. ] !

NASA is a “JOKE”, time for those devils to be put back into the Private Sector were their $$$ is cut to 1/10 of what it is/was !!!!!!!

And “again”, line up top management before shooting squad and send them back to “HOME” early…

  15. JPinBalt says:

Well at least NASA satellites did confirm that the world was becoming a nicer and greener planet due to CO2, …, I understand Hansen and Schmidt are giving a lecture in Dublin on March 17 on best methods to create spurious correlations and manipulating data.
