1974 – Global Cooling To Wipe Entire Nations Off The Map

In 1974, Australia’s Communist newspaper and the UN reported that entire nations were about to be wiped off the map by drought.

“If sufficient action isn’t taken in the next few months, countries could disappear from the face of the earth”, United Nations Secretary General, Kurt Waldheim said last month, referring to the horrific drought now ravaging West Africa.

Climatologists were so worried about global cooling in 1974, they wanted to melt the Arctic ice cap to stop it.

No worries though.  Fifteen years later the UN determined that global warming was about to wipe entire nations off the map.

A senior environmental official at the United Nations, Noel Brown, says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the earth by rising sea levels if global warming is not reversed by the year 2000.

The global warming story isn’t attracting the attention and panic it used to. Maybe it’s time for a fresh story. Let’s re-introduce some global cooling alarmism:

Spring here in California has been chilly, and yesterday the sky was ominously filled with clouds. Someone who I think might be a scientist said that this is because the low sunspot activity is letting the cosmic rays nucleate water vapor. Not only that, but I saw a squirrel shivering, too. We need to shoot rockets with magnetic payloads into the Sun before NYC becomes covered with glaciers next winter.

(Actually, there’s more evidence for this scenario than CO2-based explanations).

    Tony
What is your best argument that
‘global warming is NOT accelerating like never before from last century?’
I’m sure you posted something before, but can’t find it now.

  3. Robertv says:

The paper quotes Attenborough on the link between migration and warming saying: “It is happening in Europe. People are coming from Africa because they can’t live where they are. If things go so more parts of the world become uninhabitable, that’s what will happen.”

A senior environmental official at the United Nations, says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the earth by rising sea levels (120 meters) if global warming is not reversed by the year 12,000BC.
Woolly mammoths and other megafauna would go extinct……….. O wait that was the good warming

  4. Loren says:

Why is it ways “ten years” as the magic timeframe? I guess ACO gave us 12 years before we’re doomed. LOL

    • Robertv says:

We are doomed because climate change makes 16 year old children and politicians more stupid. Must be the toxic high levels of CO2 in the EU conference rooms
Greta Thunberg’s emotional speech to EU leaders

(Are we sure she is 16 years old)

I remember the Armadillo migration stories from the mid-70s.
Seems they are poor swimmers and not real fast.
Folks started building bridges, and in other ways
eased the trip north from Mexico.
A few nice summers and warmish winters and the
trek north seemed like a good idea. (Pets, maybe?)
A few cold winters required an adjustment.
    Repeat.
Anyway, last fall there was one near Terre Haute (Indiana); in the last few years one was spotted west of Indianapolis in Parke County, and another in Pike County – southwest of the State.

We drove through Texas on I-40 last Friday. There was a dead armadillo on the side of the road not far from the New Mexico border. I was sad for it.

Now I’m sadder because I realize he was heading south when “global cooling” was the alarm, then he tried to turn back to the north when it changed to “global warming.” Then the mantra morphed to “climate change” and the poor thing didn’t know what to do, and while he was trying to figure it out, a truck ran him over.

The unintended consequences of the stupidity of trying to create a crisis.

“United Nations Secretary General, Kurt Waldheim …”

An ex nazi secretary general of the UN :
    – this says a lot about this organisation and its own agenda.

Lieutenant Waldheim knew a thing or two about people disappearing from the face of the earth, including the Jews of Salonika. Here he is with SS-Obergruppenführer und General der Waffen-SS Artur Martin Phleps:
