Erasing The Record Heat In Australia

BOM has erased the record heat of Australia’s past, using the excuse that the thermometers weren’t shaded properly – but that claim isn’t supported by the historical record.

“Some of the highest country readings are given below. It will be seen that the North-western district had the worst of if—Mildura, 123deg.; Swan Hill, 118deg.; Donald, 117deg.; Beulah, 116deg.; Pyramid Hill and Hopetoun, 115deg.; and Charlton, 114deg.,

“Mildura, 123 deg., on January 5, 1906,” is now the highest shade reading that an official Victorian ther-mometer has ever registered. Previously the record was “Mildura 121½ deg., on January 30, 1904.” The record of 123 deg., at Mildura was notified to the Observatory; “The Argus” correspondent notified 122½ deg.

Officers at the Observatory rely on the records reported to them. The thermometers are supplied from the Observatory, and are reliable instruments, and the screens and other devices by means of which the “shade” is produced are the same as those in use at the Observatory itself.”

The 1896 heatwave in Australia was the hotetst on record, and killed huge numbers of kangaroos, dingoes, rabbits and birds. Once again, BOM seems to believe that these animals were victims of improperly situated thermometers.

Night time temperatures were extremely hot too. Apparently BOM believes these were due to thermometers in the sun at midnight.

  1. Jack the Insider says:

The BOM told everyone back in June that El-Nino was going to strike and to prefer for the hottest, driest summer ever on the East coast. The reality is that records are breaking for rainfall. Cairns received totals over 500mm in a day. South-East Queensland is currently in the middle of a rain bomb with 24-hour totals over 200mm. The BOM is so captured by Global Man-Made Warming ideology that they have lost all sight of reality.

I was in Mildura in the middle of April 1986 and the temperature reported by the local radio station was 45C or 113F in the shade. I was sitting on the banks of the Murry River where Mildura sits under the shade of some River Red Gums cooling off after a long hot drive from Melbourne. The BOM temperature gauge for Mildura is located at the Airport some 4 miles SWest of the town and when I checked the BOM database a couple of years back it said the top temperature was 44C, ?? The next day I proceeded to South Australia on one of the hottest days of that month. One has to stop at a Sth Australia and Victoria fruit fly check point to dispose of any fruit you might have in your car. The inspector checks very thoroughly. While waiting I noticed the temperature gauge under the verandah of the Inspectors hut, it said 47.6C or 117.68F, I wrote it down for future reference. Australia is a hot bugger of a country and I have been alive for nearly 70 years, so the ABC is just scare mongering as usual!

Try telling the climate deniers that high energy prices are good for the environment. Then sit back and watch their faces. (I am talking about middle/high end Norwegians $100K/annually)

I have had so much fun making fun of them the last couple of years, they all have huge houses, at least two vacation homes. One in the mountains, one at the coast.

They realise that I am correct but they are getting into some trouble with their mind/body connection. You need to be really deficient in the brains departement to be in on this scam. Or a scammer.

BTW: The government are paying everything above $0.1 of the electricity bill for everyone.

  4. Bruce of Newcastle says:

The amusing thing is that BoM starts their rainfall record in 1900, but their temperature record in 1910. Of course it is a complete coincidence that 1910 was right at the bottom of the ~60 year thermohaline cycle.

So what was Cf. William Digby trying to say with the title, in quotes,
    “Prosperous” British India.
Making one or some rich by letting 10.3 million die?

  6. Peter Carroll says:

No need to worry about the BOM fiddling the figures, we have a, Minister for Climate Change and Energy.
I hope he can change the climate because he’s making an absolute hash of Australia’s energy supply.

  7. Ulric Lyons says:

It was particularly hot in Australia during the previous centennial solar minimum in the late 1800’s, there must have been increased El Nino conditions and positive IOD conditions.
