I have added the ability to combine stations to my software, and it becomes obvious why BOM hides all temperatures before 1910. They were very hot.

Mildura is located right on the border of northwest Victoria and New South Wales. It was very hot there during the years before 1910 – which BOM hides.

Carlinville, Illinois was over 90 degrees on twenty-two days during September, 1897.  The peak temperature that month was 101 degrees, and the average maximum was 92 degrees.
