The recent fake news climate articles they have been publishing are not a surprise. The Canberra Times has a long history of pushing climate fraud.

Gavin told lots of lies in this article, but none bigger than this one. He has in fact removed the 1940’s warmth at every single Iceland station active during the 1940’s

The average for all stations is 0.65C cooling via Gavin’s data tampering.

Climategate E-mails show that Gavin’s friends in fact colluded to remove the 1940’s warmth.

It is stunning that Gavin has been getting away with this fraud, but not surprising that the Canberra Times would write a wildly fraudulent hit piece on a senator without showing the courtesy to contact him in advance to get the facts.

With their multi-billion dollar climate scam set to be shut down in seven weeks, climate fraudsters at the EPA are becoming desperate.

Last week, Senator Malcolm Roberts of Queensland asked Gavin Schmidt of NASA to explain the large adjustments being made to temperatures around Iceland, which removed the 1940’s warmth.

Gavin responded in the Canberra Times on November 21 with a number of massive lies, like this one where claimed he didn’t know Malcolm Roberts was a senator.

Gavin has been tweeting Senator Roberts for months, and is perfectly aware that he is senator. It is a senator’s job to ask questions, and Schmidt’s job to answer them.

Gavin’s dishonest attack on Senator Roberts for asking a question, should be grounds enough for his dismissal.

Next up was this claim in the article that the adjustments were 0.7C and made because of a station shift in 1921.

In an email, Truasti Jonsoon, senior meteorologist with a specialty in historical climatology at the Icelandic Meteorological Office, told Senator Roberts that the temperature “adjustments” are “quite sound”.

The original data was not from NASA but the Smithsonian publication “World weather records”, he said.

“During this early period there was a large daytime bias in the temperature data from Iceland as presented in this publication,” which accounted for much of the “discrepancy” at Teigarhorn and less so at Vestmannaeyjar, Mr Jonsoon said.

For the latter station, it was relocated in October 1921 to a higher elevation. “Comparative measurements at both sites have shown that the later location is about 0.7 degrees Celsius colder than the former – this relocation has to be ‘adjusted’ for,” he said. 

This also is a massive lie, as the adjustments are twice as large as the article claimed, and show no indication of having anything to do with a 1921 station shift.

With government climate scientists and their cronies in the press, it is all lies, all the time. This was the lead story in the Canberra Times, which didn’t have the integrity or intelligence to contact Senator Roberts before publishing their wildly fraudulent hit piece.

CNN has an alternative explanation. They say scientists have determined the election was hacked, using the same evidence free methodology perfected by NASA/NOAA climate experts.

Perhaps they will contract to NASA to adjust the election results. NASA has demonstrated great skill at reversing outcomes.

When confronted with the fact he is adjusting temperatures by as much as 100 times more than his claimed record, Gavin angrily responds that he can’t be held accountable for the fraudulent data he publishes.

The Canberra Times has firmly established themselves as a leading anti-science newspaper by claiming the adjustments NASA is making to the Icelandic temperature record are legitimate.

The adjustments aren’t legitimate. As of 2014, NASA had completed wiped out the well documented 1940’s warmth and subsequent cooling at Reykjavik, by lowering 1940 temperatures more than 2C..

The person in charge at the Icelandic Met Office said four years ago : The GHCN “corrections” are grossly in error in the case of Reykjavik.

Many journalists like Peter Hannam at the Canberra Times are stuck in the 16th century mentality of attacking people they view as heretics, are too lazy to do any actual research, and too corrupt to give the target of their hit pieces the opportunity to respond.

Yesterday I reported on the nonsensical claim in the Canberra Times that NASA/NCDC temperature data tampering at Vestmannaeyia, Iceland was due to a station shift in 1921. There is no evidence of any discontinuity at 1921 in the current version of NASA graphs, and no evidence that the massive pre-1970 adjustments can be accounted for by it.

But this story is worse than it seems. Prior versions of Gavin’s tampering looked completely different. Gavin erases older versions of his graphs and blocks archiving, but here is a version of the NASA graph I captured sometime around 2014. It showed that the NASA data tampering had nothing to do with 1921.

When confronted with his 1.5C data tampering, Gavin Schmidt (who reports global temperatures within 0.01C) simply says he doesn’t know anything about the adjustments, and blames NOAA.

Note that Gavin adjustments are 150 times larger than his reported precision. No one would get away with this in any other field of “science.” The 1940’s warmth was removed simply because government climate scientists wanted it gone, as exposed in this Climategate E-mail.
