But evil climate denier Michael Mann says that Earth is warming slower than expected.

It’s been called the “hiatus,” “pause,” or “slowdown” and has been a favored meme of climate skeptics for years.

Despite the continued increase of greenhouse gas emissions from us, rise of global surface temperatures has been easing since 1998.

If the data doesn’t match the theory, call up Gavin and Tom and have them change the data.

Two new studies published this week examine the origins of the“pause,” and, surprisingly, suggest that it may persist for years even in our notably warming world.

It isn’t warming, but it is warming notably.

The first study, published on Feb. 26 in the journal Science, looked into likely causes. “It appears as though internal variability has offset warming over the last 15 or so years,”Byron A. Steinman, lead author of the paper and assistant professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth, told Quartz.

That internal variability is found in the natural cycles of temperature change that occur over years or even decades in the oceans, like El Niño and La Niña. There are others, like the “Atlantic multidecadal oscillation” and the “Pacific decadal oscillation,” which Steinman said are leading culprits for the warming slowdown.

The oceans should be punished for aiding and abetting deniers.

The paper, which was co-authored by Michael E. Mann and Sonya K. Miller of Pennsylvania State University, found an oceanic tug-of-war between the two systems. Sometimes the ocean cycles worked together to suck heat or burp it skyward—sometimes their push-pull led to a draw.

AS devastating as the present drought in the southern Great Plains has been, scientists who study ancient climates are finding that droughts, floods and severe cold far surpassing anything in the modern era have punctuated the 10,000 years since the last ice age.

The discovery has surprised experts because the climate of this most recent period in earth history, called the Holocene, has long been considered relatively stable and serene, and its comparative tranquillity has long been thought essential to the development of civilization.

Now, paleoclimatologists are finding in case after case that the Holocene climate has been more volatile than had been believed. The disturbing implication is that these natural catastrophes could come again at any time, quite apart from any change in climate that might result from emissions of waste industrial gases that can trap heat.

“We like to think of whatever climate we’re in as normal,” said Dr. Daniel Muhs, a geologist with the United States Geological Survey in Denver, “and our natural assumption is that it will keep on that way — that’s a very tenuous assumption.”

It turns out that the climate of the last century and a half, the brief period in which people have been measuring temperature and precipitation, has indeed been relatively placid. These comparatively calm recent decades have nevertheless had their own ups and downs, like the drought that struck the southern Great Plains in the 1930’s, creating the Dust Bowl.

There can be little doubt the current staff at the New York Times would censor their own article, for telling the truth.

I finally solved my main traveling frustration. I bought a dirt cheap Lenovo touchpad with a detachable keyboard. It is like a Microsoft Surface, only one third the price. I can tether to my phone in the airport via Bluetooth, and have a Bluetooth mouse. It has 15 hours battery life, and if the person in front of me puts their seat back, that doesn’t make it impossible to type or see the screen. I used it flying back from Denver the other day. It was amazing.

So far this year, more than 50% of USHCN data is fake, and NCDC is adjusting US temperatures upwards by more than one degree. New records for both.

Monthly temperatures which are marked with an “E” are “estimated” rather than measured. More than half of the current data for 2015 is fake.

As more data comes in, these numbers will go down some, but the point is that the more data is missing, the higher the temperature. This is likely due to to loss of rural data, and infilling with UHI contaminated urban data.
