New York Times Skiing Forecast

Two days ago the geniuses at the New York Times made this forecast.

In the Rockies, where early conditions have also been spotty, average winter temperatures are expected to rise as much as 7 degrees by the end of the century. Park City, Utah, could lose all of its snowpack by then. In Aspen, Colo., the snowpack could be confined to the top quarter of the mountain. So far this season, several ski resorts in Colorado have been forced to push back their opening dates.

Americans See What Is Coming

2012 election map by county.

Last night I went to pick up a shotgun which had been delivered to my FFL. I was unable to get it last night, because the background check queue was massively overloaded. Americans are buying guns like crazy – before Obama does what we all know he is going to do.

1938 : Socialists Understood The Importance Of Gun Control

On Nov. 8, The New York Times reported from Berlin, “Berlin Police Head Announces ‘Disarming’ of Jews,” explaining: “The Berlin Police President, Count Wolf Heinrich von Helldorf, announced that as a result of a police activity in the last few weeks the entire Jewish population of Berlin had been ‘disarmed’ with the confiscation of 2,569 hand weapons, 1,702 firearms and 20,000 rounds of ammunition.

Nov. 9, Adolph Hitler, Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels and other Nazi chiefs planned the attack. Orders went out to Nazi security forces: “All Jewish stores are to be destroyed immediately . Jewish synagogues are to be set on fire . The Führer wishes that the police does not intervene. All Jews are to be disarmed. In the event of resistance they are to be shot immediately.”

Nov. 10: “Nazis Smash, Loot and Burn Jewish Shops and Temples,” a headline read. “One of the first legal measures issued was an order by Heinrich Himmler, commander of all German police, forbidding Jews to possess any weapons whatever and imposing a penalty of twenty years confinement in a concentration camp upon every Jew found in possession of a weapon hereafter.”4 Thousands of Jews were taken away.

27 Dead In Connecticut

An official with knowledge of Connection school shooting tells the Associated Press that 27 people are dead, including 18 children.

Many of the shootings took place in a kindergarten classroom, sources told the Hartford Courant. The gunman is reported dead.

One official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is still under way, says the man apparently had two guns.

Connecticut school shooting – chicagotribune.com

What a nightmare. Sandy Hook is a beautiful place in the hills with a reputation for top notch schools. This news is devastating for me. I have a child who goes to school in Littleton, Colorado – where America’s worst school shooting occurred in 1999.

Understanding Climate Model Forecasts

Climate models are accurate to 0.1 degrees 100 years in the future, but you are not allowed to quote forecasts more than two years old – because the science has improved.

World Gone Nuts

There was a shooting at an elementary school in Sandy Hook, Connecticut this morning.

This is particularly disturbing to me because I was working in the tiny community of Sandy Hook during February/March last year, and one my co-worker’s son went to that school at the time.  They since moved to Florida to get away from the snow.
