Oh no,that is a shock. Fancy using actual data,no,tell me it’s not true. We can’t have actual observations/data interfering with our models.
Exactly right. First, from The Economist we have: “The mismatch between rising greenhouse gas emissions and not-rising temperatures [17 year ‘pause’] is among the biggest puzzles in climate science just now.” And now, as time has unfolded, ALL the models have failed… miserably.
And a good wuwt comment from Olaf Dahlsveen: “They are Model Makers, and as long as they put CO2 into their models as being responsible for any earthly temperature rise, then it is quite correct for them to say that «All our models show that CO2 is responsible for the recent warming.>>… Well, that was back in the ’80s and ’90s. But then the warming stopped…”
And the quotes:
“The data doesn’t matter. We’re not basing our recommendations [for CO2 cuts] upon the data. We’re basing them upon the climate models.” -Chriss Folland, UK Meteorological Office
“Rather than seeing models as describing literal truth, we ought to see them as convenient fictions which try to provide something useful [like propaganda?].” -David Frame, Oxford U
The only reason there was a match in the first place is because Mann and Hansen fudged the temperature data and Callendar and Keeling fudged the CO2 data.
