As it is not a recognized warming artifact it must be graded, on the IPCC/McKibben standard scale, as a lesser unprecedented. Therefore, as the grading definition goes (with a 97.666% certaintly), it is only a new normal. And as such doesn’t count.

1000%? Looks to me like there’s something wrong there, like the last “0” actually being a “%” symbol. 1000% means “ten times as much as”, and only last week Lake Superior was nearing 100%. A jump to 10X doesn’t look right.

Looks to me, if you compare the current ice (last blue bar on the right) with the median line (light blue line), it looks about 1000% to me … or that would be 10x for you common core challenged folks.
The next myth to fall will be Great Lakes water levels, which have been below normal for over a decade. This was climate change too, and just as supposedly was supposed to take decades to recover if ever. With all the snow on the ground and above normal precip forecast for this spring, we will see if “decades” really means “16 months”.
Another effect of the ice will be ice next year. The average temperature of the lakes do not rise as much after a big ice year. It typically affects 3-5 years downstream. This was true in 1994 to 95 and 96. Also in 1977 to 79 and even into the early 80s. It’s hard to warm up a lake the size of Michigan or Superior after a winter like this.
So watch for levels and this Fall watch for average temps leading into Winter. Like Ahrnold, the ice will be back.
Climate Experts should take ice cores on the Great Lakes and determine whether the settled science has settled any further.
