      normally it is in the 70°F – 80s this time of year and sometimes into the 90s°F.
      Now? It was 47°F this morning and is now 61°F

      They keep forecasting higher temps but they never materialize.

      Here in Chicago, our 4th coldest winter. It is not any different than 1976-1980. See; Cincinnati vs. SF football playoffs temp. No BIGGIE!
      Just like global warming, it is not exceptional, or a record. We have seen this in the past regardless of the carbon load.

    iceagenow/info iceagenow.com show the glaciation maps, claims we are experiencing a mini ice age. I read it last October, really seems right on now!

      It’s a little early to claim we are having any ice age, mini or otherwise. Certainly the catastrophic warming the greens predicted is nowhere in evidence, and the global average temps are moving in a way (slightly down) which precludes their human released CO2 = catastrophe models from being worthwhile.
      If New York Harbor starts freezing over, the Thames Ice Fair picks up again, and grapes can no longer be grown in Britain, mini ice age at least.
      Let’s let the next solar cycle amount to nothing before we make that prediction.

        Long term catastrophic warming has a ZERO probability except maybe as a thermal pulse just before the drop into glaciation. (If the Holocene follows the pattern of the last interglacial the Modern warm period is that thermal pulse.)

        However a Mini Ice Age is certainly a possible and so is the Big Drop. The big drop has been a subject of much controversy among Quaternary Scientists. I just don’t like it when a geologist, William McClenney, who has been keeping a close eye on the papers on the subject says:

        The thing is whatever is happening at the half-precession+ old Holocene simply isn’t anomalous, yet. Nothing I have read post 2005 supports greater than half-precession length for the Holocene.….

        …..Aside from Loutre and Berger’s 2003 astronomical model, which was soundly trounced by Lisiecki and Raymo’s 2005 rebuttal, there has only been one well-accepted means of preventing glacial inception discussed in the literature: greenhouse gases…

        Now wouldn’t you think that type of information would be newsworthy? Especially since interglacials end at half-precession and we are already over that time limit.

        Oh, and Tom, We are in an Ice Age. We just happen to be enjoying a fleeting bit of warming called an interglacial before we drop back into the freezer again. {:>D

    To tell you the truth if there is man made climate change. Its to late to stop it. To many nations like China and Russia who will not cooperate fully or at all. And then all the 3rd world polluters will continue on polluting. So what do we have an organized extortion ring. Designed to take money from the westernized nations in taxation. They call it Climate Change tax…. But its a scam it’s To line the pockets of global wealthy few…. And to control and regulate the masses. The crazy thing is the wealthy, wealthy make more money when society as a whole makes money they generate more for themselves. Example; Crooked communists made money stealing from the people and the nation but they make far more money when they open the market and allow the average Joe to make money…

    Anomalies are one thing but the Northeast having the coldest year ever recorded is a deathblow to the cult of climate change. When is everyone going to understand that with the fall of the Iron Curtain and the Chinese communists selectively embracing capitalism, the left in this country who used to be out in the open advocating communism and socialism have now gone underground and use environmentalism as their front.     The fact is Australia was the hottest ever, for a few years running, the UK had more floods and rain than ever and California was in a record drought.
    It’s not co-incidence.

    These are temperature aberration caused by a recent, SIGNIFICANT change in climate caused by C02 levels as a result of increasing pollution.
    Nature exists in an ancient, evolved balance.
    You know China’s population is 4 times the US right now.
    If everyone on the planet had the current lifestyle of America it would take 4 more earths.

Not that big of a deal, since their records only go back to 1910. Thats a 114 year span, which is nothing with respect to climate data. Temperatures have not risen globally in the last 15 years. I know you libs hate that fact, but a fact it is, anyway. There is not now, nor has there ever been, convincing evidence that mankind has any effect whatsoever on the climate. Look in the sky and you will see that large bright object that determines the temperature of the solar system. Too funny!

        Steve has put up plenty of old news articles (Parrots and other birds dropping dead along with people and livestock) that show it was a LOT HOTTER during recorded history in Australia.
        For example:

        1896 : Before CO2 Overheated The Atmosphere
        January, 1896 was by far the hottest month is Australian history…
        Some places reached 130 degrees….
        Parrots dropped dead out of trees….
        The heat killed millions of rabbits….
        Meanwhile, people dropped dead from the heat in London….
        People and horses dropped dead from the heat in America….
        Boulder, Colorado had a much larger flood than the 2013 “thousand year flood”….
        And back in Australia, they suffered from drought and famine….

        Another example: 1875 : Fire, Heat And Drought In Australia

      People always talk about an over populated earth…reality is if you invited the entire earths population to a party….every single man, woman and child….we could hold it in the tiny state of Rhode Island…each person would have 5 sq feet to dance in….I would hate to clean the toilets after but we are HARDLY having a great impact on the earth.

      Or if you are not too lazy, calculate the total known hydrocarbon reserves on earth and the btus they would generate. Now, calculate the btus necessary to warm the atmosphere 1 degree for 1 year….now add in the volume of the ocean and heating it 1 degree for a year….now add in the surface….lets just say top 10 feet of soil…lets warm that up just 1/2 degree for 1 year. If you do the math you quickly realize that if we intentionally tried to warm the earth by 1 degree its simply not possible….so if we can’t do it INTENTIONALLY how in the heck do you think we will do it unintentionally?

      Let alone the fact that we can’t/don’t burn all known reserves in a year. Why is this so hard from some to understand?

    Is this graph plotting apples to apples or apples to oranges? If graphed is the 2014 Jan-April anomaly compared to the global mean on record, it should be anomalously low, but if plotted is Jan-April anomalies from every year, then we are seeing that 2014 is likely the coldest winter on record in the NE.

    There IS no “ancient, evolved balance” there is ONLY CHANGE.

    99% of plant and animal species are extinct and the became extinct before man walked this earth.

    The Continents don’t even stay put but move around .

    The temperature is certainly not steady. It is oscillating and also getting progressively COLDER.

    Too all you deniers, I hate kill your buzz about this news, but as you can recall, It’s called “Global Warming,” not “Northeast Warming in America,” hence the issue is that The Earth, as a combined entity is warming, not a tiny fraction of it. So, this unfortunately means nothing, NADA. The “earth” is warming, and we’ve seen record breaking high temperatures particularly consistent over the last 10 years. I just as much as you like V8’s, big trucks, and airplanes, however there IS a major problem, alternative energies and conservation are the only way we are going to get out of it.

These climate alarmists are using computer programs that they wrote to return results that they want. When is the last or first time you ever in your life saw a forecast out a week that was even close to accurate? The best weather scientists (yes they are all scientists) can’t get a week out correct and you are betting your reputation and your livelihood on what this bunch is telling you? Really fella?

      You are correct it is called “Global Warming”

      Now stop for a moment and think about that. What does the word ‘Warming” actually mean? It means to increase in temperature. There is a distinct difference between the words Warm, and Warming.

      So has the temperature actually been WARMING, (not is it warm but has it continuously gotten warmer over time.)

      The answer is NO!

      THE UN’s climate change chief, Rajendra Pachauri, has acknowledged a 17-year pause in global temperature rises, confirmed recently by Britain’s Met Office….

      Now we wait and see what the earth actually has in store for us. Given the factors that control the climate other than CO2 that means it will probably cool in fits and starts.

      Because the effect of CO2 is logarithmic, most of the effect occurred in the first 20ppm adding more at this level has little effect. GRAPH** But the plants sure do like it.

And then remember what you probably learned in 6th or 7th grade on how old the earth is. And then connect the two and see if it means anything.

    If you are scientist, you need a reference point to start the research, like what was considered normal for the planet and then you start to measure and measure for decades and centuries if needed to compare the background temperature. Then you collect data from the sun, oceans, evaporations caused by wind or dry air, then you measure the thickness of the clouds, layering of the clouds, heights of the clouds, then you measure, thermal mass of the ground, rain fall for the area of reference point and so on….until you can even suggest a climate or temperature change if any.
    According to my theory, the earth is in perfect balance, all of the radiation from the sun is either radiated back in space overnight or is accumulated in the ground (summer time) and then released in winter for a net gain of 0 degree difference on ling run.
