Unfortunately Kelo gives them the power. Some states passed Anti-Kelo laws just after that ruling. Colorado was not one of them.
As a great piece of shoot yourselves in the foot of irony, the Kelo house (a HISTORIC Victorian normally ‘protected’) that was seized and razed so a “more tax profitable” entreprize ( Pfizer, Inc) could be built is now just an empty vacant field…

Perhaps a copy of that article should be sent to the Supreme Court Justices along with the articles of the military build up around the Colorado ranch.
That is one case I do not fault the justices. They applied the relevant precedents and laws. That truly is a case where “we the people” failed to account for the duplicitous nature of government.
And yes, I heard the property is now sitting vacant. A similar situation developed here (although all land was purchased without a court order). A government built a 4 lane freeway for a company to build a huge plant. (access). They never did.
