On this date in 1947, there were 100 degree temperatures from coast to coast, and everywhere but the Northeast was over 90 degrees. It was 118 in California, 113 in Arizona and 109 at Sedan, Kansas. Today’s forecast high at Sedan is 27 degrees cooler than 1947. NASA says it is the hottest year ever. About 1% of the US will be over 1oo degrees today.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel published my letter with out comment:

    Not that hot

    • Gail Combs says:

Did you mention any of the actual temps in the 1930’s and have that part cut?

      • Steve Case says:

No, the station in Milwaukee only goes back to 1947. Besides when I write a letter to the editor I like to be brief. Junk it up with all sorts of stuff, and it doesn’t get read. They did edit out my line about “You guys down at the Journal-Sentinel should read about the heat wave of 1936 sometime.” Print copy readers won’t have the links.

    • Dan Zielinski says:

      Good!

The Pope just said we all need to repent of our carbon sins to stop the Arctic from melting and to prevent hurricanes and rising seas, and give up our sovereignty to the EU.

… and more. Much of such stuff comes from Sea-Tac, that is now but was not always, a massively concrete and vegetation-less airport.

    Are you scared yet?

Question for Tony. Why is there not a reply email function like before? I don’t get email updates. I have to refresh the browser to see any replies.
