This is clearly fraudulent. There is no plausible empirical reason to produce such a notch/step in the “adjustments” of past temperature readings.
If any of us were to “adjust” our reported income downwards for past years in an attempt to get a refund on income taxes paid, we would be indicted for income tax fraud if we could not support the allegation with proof. So why are these a$$holes allowed to get away with this clear cut fraud?
