Sierra Club Says We Are Coming Up On The First Anniversary Of The Ice-Free Arctic

Ron Arnold keeps track of the money end of these lunatics.

I would guess that Beckwith makes $250,000 a year.
Ah yes. Mr. Beckwith. Proving that even among the theTribe of the Great White North, there are clueless, moronic half wits scammingteh public with Greenie, All Doom, All Gloom lies, deceptions, schemes and scams.
That guy needs serious psychological help !
That guy knows what he’s doing. He’s using scare tactics to increase his bank account and nobody is calling him out when his predicticions fail to materialize.
Chicken Little, “The sky is falling, The sky is falling and a piece hit me on the head!” Perhaps we should all send him to the Arctic to check, so that he too can get stuck by a computer glitch.
Well, I have more wisdom than in my youth.
I would, if I could take another crack at it.
I read the post and performed the Google search Paul recommended. It led me here: https://sites.google.com/site/arcticseaicegraphs/ and here: http://neven1.typepad.com/blog/..
The last site displays an interesting 4Hiroshimas widget I had not seen before. The website explaining the widget is here: http://4hiroshimas.com/
I followed the explanation, but was left with an unanswered question. I’m researching the answer now, but if someone here already knows the answer, I’d be delighted to read it.
My question: How many Hiroshima atomic bombs worth of heat did our climate accumulate prior to 1950?
I found a lot of answers. This one did a solid job explaining it. http://joannenova.com.au/2013/12/sun-dumps-500-times-as-many-hiroshima-bombs-of-energy-as-climate-change/
Watch the pea under the cup. Beckwith’s latest:
“The most detailed computer model on sea ice decline is a U.S. Naval Graduate School model, and it shows the sea ice cover could be gone by late summer in 2016.”
http://arctic-news.blogspot.com.au/search/label/Paul%20Beckwith
I think Beckwith was referring to Professor Wieslaw Maslowski who is at the U.S. Naval Graduate School. He is the same guy who predicted an ice-free Arctic for September 2013.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7139797.stm
PS – Maslowski did also say plus or minus 3 years, so he has until 2019 before we break out in laughter……………………………………..again. 😉
For the record, I’m making the following prediction:
We’re in for another hard winter, possibly two hard winters, here in the “heartland,” considering the records for 1976, ’77, and ’78, which culminated in the great Blizzard of 1978 — and the climate alarmists will blame the cold winter, once again, on global warming.
I remember the blizzard of 78 well. Running around with my cousin in his lifted Toyota Land Cruiser taking prescriptions to people that were snow bound. Had to rescue 3 Great Danes from their back yard kennel. Now THAT was interesting.
The only way to transit Indiana Hwy 9 between Anderson and Alexandria was via snow mobile. 8′ of snow on some places covering that highway with a bunch of cars buried under it.
Since then I have been many places where things like that are not unusual but back then as a teenager I had never seen anything like it.
Winter of ’78 I was in Equatorial Africa. Not much snow.
You mean, climate is not isotropic?
But the Sierra Club has a long history of getting it wrong when it comes to judgement, especially the balancing of the needs of people and the needs of nature.
http://www.clovisnews.com/trails/hetch_hetchy_power.html
But on rare occasions The Sierra club get somethings nearly right –
http://www.forbes.com/sites/toddwoody/2012/03/27/sierra-club-nrdc-sue-feds-to-stop-big-california-solar-power-project/
At least John Muir was the real deal. Not like the pasty faced city slickers now that have never tried to survive in a wilderness before but which claim to be the ultimate arbiters of nature conservation.
And for some strange reason, I believe that he would have little tolerence for…
Excellent satirical post! It has the look and feel of something the Sierra Club would actually post. “Angry climate”. “Poked in the eye”. “Massive climate disruption”. Ha ha. Well done!
Woah…you check the source link?
Research any on who Paul Beckwith is?
Sorry, but that’s NOT satire, it’s the real deal and typical Beckwith ‘style’.
Since when is the Sierra Club credible?
It’s ‘cred’ took a big nosedive when Muir died in 1914.
Maybe the missing ice will show up in Death Valley one day. At his rate Death Valley should be iced over in 6 years.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-weather-gang/wp/2014/08/04/death-valley-was-cooler-than-missoula-mont-on-sunday/
If “Death Valley” refers to the entire national park, well, it snows in parts of it, notably Telescope Peak. If you refer to the Death Valley Basin, well, don’t hold your breath.
I did get rained on in September at Furnace Creek, tho.
He didn’t predict he’d look mighty stupid, did he?
The climate is “angry”? Since when did the planet’s climate develop a personality?
And since when, in the last 11,000 years (the Holocene Epoch), has the climate been stable? Like, for instance, during the stable Little Ice Age and the stable Medieval Warming? Does Beckwith get paid for regurgitating such nonsense? Would McDonald’s hire this imbecile to flip burgers? I think not. He’s unstable, just like the climate.
Unfortunately, yeah, he gets paid for it…he’s a ‘part time’ professor, ‘climatologist’ and speaker, in addition to writing articles for various outlets (online/magazines).

The Sierra Club is only one of many climate wackos out there.
How people swallow this propaganda is beyond me.
Just sent out a tweet to SierraClubCanada asking how Paul is enjoying his new employment.
Surely you couldn’t make a prediction so far wrong and not be resigned to working at Walmart or something like that.
Let us know if they get back to you.
