A business with their hours is called “bankrupt”.

  2. norilsk says:

Use the Russian side–The Northern Sea Route. Grain was shipped from Vancouver to Russia using this route between 1979 and 1992.

Last I looked the northeast passage was also blocked. How complete the blockage is I couldn’t say and perhaps it has opened.

      • norilsk says:

A little bit of ice doesn’t stop ships designed for the area. This quote from a document I have says it all (Commercial Shipping On The Northern Sea Route by Jan Drent).

“SA-15 type icebreaking cargo ship proceeding through ice north of Taymir Peninsula
(northernmost part of Eurasia), September 1991. During this voyage the ship made eight-ten knots through ninety to 100% ice-covered waters without icebreaker escort. These ships can achieve thirteen-fourteen knots in open water on one engine, and 17.5 knots on two. They can make continuous progress through ice one metre thick.”

I think I understand … the northeast passage is so ice free that if you are using a boat capable of sailing through 1 metre thick ice then it is just peachy 😉
Hopefully the crew brought their sunscreen /sarc/

That’s why all the boats are leaving post haste.

  4. The reason the Arctic Ocean is not warming is the heat is all going into the Atlantic.

The greenhouse effect heats the atmosphere. You cannot heat the bottom of the Atlantic without FIRST heating the atmosphere. It’s like turning off the stove and saying the reason the griddle is not warming is the heat is going into the pancakes.

  5. Douglas Pohl says:

So sorry to advise you that the Northwest Passage will not be freezing with your country men trapped in the cold Arctic as you predicted a year ago, it is now 20140829 and all marine traffic is moving both east and west through the Canadian Arctic NW Passage without icebreaker assistance. 🙂

Wind (knots) SE 7 Air temperature (°C) 2

That’s ok Steve… other greats have also made a small mistake… the NWP remains OPEN with marine traffic moving both east and west…

    Yeah. Right.
