NOAA reported that September was the warmest ever on Earth, even though satellites showed September as being close to the median.
This tipped me off that they have gone into full cheating, damn the torpedoes mode. Check out the level of tampering they achieved for September US temperatures. NCDC shows a strong warming trend for September in the US.

I immediately knew that we were looking at a record data tampering event. They have now passed two degrees of cheating in the US record. The graph below shows the difference between NCDC measured and reported data. As you can see, they are basically reducing temperatures from the past linearly with age.
NOAA has degenerated into a spectacularly immoral state, where their primary purpose seems to be to generate climate propaganda. Last week they were lying again about the 1,000 year rainfall in Colorado. It is pathetic.
What will they say during/after the extreme winter we are about to have. Will they blame the cold on snow on global warming or make past winters colder and snowier.

Where can the original data sets be found?

Also Dale Enterprise, VA and a large proportion of the other US sites. The overall effect is to add in about half a degree per century of bogus warming.

That would be “The combined average temperature over global land and ocean surfaces for September 2013” right? Or did someplace set a new global high temp record?
NOAA NDIC and NASA GISS have demonstrated again and again that they will go to any lengths to keep the AGW money spigot flowing. Research dollars dedicated to the climate scare represent a big chunk of their funding. They are not going to walk away from it without a fight. Hence, the vicious attacks against anyone questioning their AGW theology.
I look forward to the day when Hansen, Trenberth, Schmidt, Mann and other AGW ringleaders — the modern-day version of medieval alchemists — are prosecuted under the RICO Act. They have given science a black eye while robbing billions of dollars from taxpayers in their greedy pursuit of money and fame. Their phony science has been used to justify the expenditure of hundreds of billions of dollars on a fruitless war against a harmless, life-sustaining gas, diverting precious resources from real problems impacting humanity.
