NCDC continues to break all records for data tampering in 2014, with a hockey stick of adjustments to turn a long term cooling trend into a warming trend.
Note that the adjustments above do not include the adjustments NCDC makes when they go from raw daily to raw monthly. Those further increase the magnitude of the tampering.
They are not making any additional TOBS adjustments after 2005, so most of the recent data tampering appears to be due to infilling missing data. Nearly 50% of the temperature data used by NCDC is now imaginary.
When your rules allow you to make up half the data, you can generate any trend your funders require.

Hey DakotaKid! Trust has to be based on experience. You trust your friends because you have shared experiences which show their reliability. You trust your spouse because your history together proves her (or his) actions and motives are common with yours.
Do you trust the government? Let’s rephrase that: “Has experience shown that the statements and motives of the government can be relied upon?”
The problem for them all is simple: it is effing COLD. This summer is cold. Winter was cold, and a next winter looms that I suspect will be even colder. By producing this junk science, they are going to be nakedly exposed on an ice floe. With an appreciative polar bear. 🙂

It’s clear that the goal is to completely eliminate thermometer based temperatures so there is no discrepancy with climate models.
The desperation and panic in the hallways of NCDC must be enormous. Imagine having to fight for your job by trying to out-fabricate your co-workers!!!
It might seem like raw propaganda to the informed, but their target market is the uninformed. And there are many of them.
This sort of fraud and subterfuge will continue as long as science is “publicly funded.” Free citizens should never be compelled at the point of a tax collector’s gun to pay for scientific research. Instead, all research should be privately pursued and funded via corporate donations, foundation grants, and individual support. Careful investors would avoid wasting their limited resources on junk science projects, including the laughable enterprise now parading under the rubric of “climate change.”
And what’s wrong with self-funding one’s own research? I don’t recall Orville and Wilbur right clamoring for government support as they conducted flight tests at Kitty Hawk. And their achievements are merely one example of the many breakthroughs in science that were made independently without government aid.
