How NOAA Data Tampering Destroys Science

Thermometers show a 60 year cycle US summer cooling and heating. Ten years of sharp cooling, followed by 50 years of gradual warming. The graph below shows two sharp cooling periods from 1895 to 1905, and again from 1950 to 1960. It also shows two warming periods from 1910 to 1950, and from 1960 to 2010.

The net temperature change over the period is zero. There has been no warming or cooling during US summers since the start of records in the 1890s. The 1930’s were by far the hottest decade.

But NOAA isn’t interested in the actual temperature record. Their purpose is convince people the planet is warming. So they “adjust” the temperature data (red line below) to create the appearance of a non-existent warming.

In doing so, they lose all of the useful information about US climate. The incredibly hot Dust Bowl becomes cooler than the cool present, and the only thing people are supposed to notice is that summers are getting hotter.

They accomplish this through a spectacular hockey stick of data tampering – shown below.

But it is much worse than it seems. Daily average temperatures are strongly affected by UHI. If we look only at maximum temperatures, it becomes obvious that US summers are on a long term cooling trend, and are currently among the coolest on record.

Here in Maryland, it probably is the coolest on record. We did not have a summer this year. A late spring, which has transitioned directly to autumn.

The NCDC adjustments destroy all meaning of the temperature record, and are used to produce political documents, not scientific ones.

He who controls the present controls the past.

    Great work Steven.

Keep on banging that drum Steve. These bastards can only ignore the noise for so long before they awaken from their complacency. The fact that the variations are so marginal makes it possible for them to fiddle the numbers as they see fit.

It is not only the US. It is approaching half the land area now documented to be “adjusted” down in the past, and up in the present. We are having a plague of Hokey stick adjustments.

Boy you should see what has happened with BOM in Australia. The’ve actually been caught out.See Jo Nova or WUWT. One cannot but help think that someone is paying money big time to some people in these organizations (USCHN, BOM, GISS ect) to fiddle the data. Its all to coincidental

Is there any recourse that can get NOAA on the carpet to try and prove their claims??

    • The House of Representatives is probably the best starting point. But one has got to get Boehner and his crowd out of the leadership in order to move that issue forward in the House. Besides the problem of “moderates” controlling the House’s budget and agenda, the House is pretty much up to its eyes with the IRS and Ben Ghazi investigations. And now Defense is probably asking them for help in circumventing Obama on foreign policy to launch a major campaign against the I.S. On top of all that, they’ve got general elections in November in which they’re within striking range of taking the Senate for the first time in more than ten years, and a federal treasury that’s about blow a head gasket on them.

Oh, yeah, one more little thing. Obama may be getting ready to seize all legislative and judicial power from in a blitz-style coup d’état and rule by Executive Order. Hard to really parse what he’s saying about his plans, but it certainly has stirred up a fuss up on Capitol Hill ….

As far as the courts … unless someone has some new, 100% unassailable, overwhelming proof of explicit intent, not only to alter records, but for the specific purpose of killing or otherwise devastating the American people, I would be very careful about running off to court or to a U.S. Attorney’s office. The U.S. Judiciary lives in a world entirely unto itself. And remember, NOAA is not stupid. They have lawyers to tell them what precautions they have to take to be protected from civil and criminal suits. And they are still one of the United States’ Uniformed Services. Which means all they have to do is say “national security” and they are automatically covered by the Uniform Code of Military Justice….

It’s said way science has gone from good honest studies on way everything works on this blue marble instead they let government rule this and became a joke to make money on pure greed and playing with innocent life sickening

We had a little bit of a summer. After last winter, we needed it.

  9. Having lived in Maryland since 1980, this was definitely a comparatively cool summer here. In fact, the last few summers have been cooler than those in the 1980s and 1990s. My laboratory was also hit with a very high common area maintenance bill for all of the snow plowing last winter.

Somehow the facts don’t seem to line up. Where are the sources behind this article, anyway?

In case this proves helpful, here’s a source that deals with the falsification claim itself…
