Wunderground so far shows nothing of this ‘Polar Express’ the forecast is lows into the 20- 30F and highs 40 -50F.
On the other hand Wunderground showed 6 inches of snow as less than an inch of rain.
It is going to be an extremely cold week, especially in the Midwest. Temps easily 30 degrees below normal.
It is funny how they make it look like the rest of the world is broiling.
Since 10″ or so of snow melts to the equivalent of about 1″ of rain, it all depends on whether the snow melts on the way down to the ground (rain starts as ice crystals and snow at altitude).
I love how the rest of the planet is a burning cauldron. I wasn’t aware the Moon had two Suns.
The picture is from NASA. I believe the red depicts the lava that CO2 is creating or it could be the latest adjustments by Gavin. 🙂

Seems Japan is still digging out of the last snow that dumped 200cm of snow fall last weekend (~ 14th?) on Yamanashi Prefecture. The stores are running out of food.

Gail, I think an inch of rain makes about a foot of snow. From what I have been measuring over the past thirty years.

As the cold “leaks out of the Arctic” it is simple Physics 101 to grasp the temperature must be increasing ????
The vortex is not a problem; that is the bounded swirl of cold air around the pole. When its boundary weakens and allows some cold to escape south, that’s a problem. Sort of a vortex breakdown. That’s what cold-o-phobes need to worry about.
