Philippines typhoons have always been a danger. Even when Co2 was at low levels.

    Probably in 1851 as well:
MANILA. – DESTRUCTIVE GALE. – By the French barque Paul Emile, we have received Manila papers to the 18th February. A severe gale occurred on the 7th and 8th December amongst the Philippine islands, by which much damage was occasioned. Several Spanish vessels were lost, and an English ship (name not mentioned) is reported to have been wrecked at Tinallan, province of Samar. Much injury had also been done on shore, the rivers having risen above their banks and inundated the neighbouring country, destroying houses and cultivation. In the province of Samar the river rose nine feet above its ordinary level, inundating the greater part of that province and sweeping away whole villages.”
