Apparently, TSA security guards are unarmed, except for the off-duty TSA employee who did the shooting (per Chicago Police Superintendant, Chicago radio AM 890 approx. 2:45 p.m. CDT). I have not verified this from another source.
I’m at O’Hare, and don’t see any guns.
Welcome! I live about 6 miles west of the airport.
Let me clarify the above remark. The Chicago Police Superintendant said that his sources was the Dept. of Homeland Security alert that law enforcement got. He said they tightened security at O’Hare and around the country, but did not specify.
At Buffalo, they didn’t require shoes or coats off today, and I didn’t even have to take my laptops out. It was almost pleasant travelling today.
