  1. Never pulled a 1000 pound sturgeon through a hole. Might be fun.

  2. Bob Knows says:

The ice is getting so deep we better be taxing heating fuel to stop all the “clmate change.” Send all our money to O’Dumbo. Saint O’Dumbo will save us.

  3. gator69 says:

If this trend continues (and any good alarmist would say it will), the many times great grandkids will have new lakes to enjoy!

  4. John Smith says:

Thanks for all of the emails. It helps to counteract the rage that the media seems to so love to provoke.

  5. nomoregore says:

I recognize this pattern immediately. It is just as the climate con…er, uh, scientists have been saying! You see, climate change gave way to climate disruption. This ultimately caused climate twitterpation, which evolved into conniption. But now, the final deadly stage, climate constipation is beginning. It ends in a terrible explosion, with shit flying everywhere.

  6. Mohatdebos says:

I want to celebrate. It will mean good boating next summer. But, boy it has been a miserable winter in Michigan, and there is more snow and cold in the forecast. I don’t think I have seen this much snow on the ground in the 31 years I have lived in Michigan. Reminds of Chicago in the late 70s — the new ice age era.

  7. Psalmon says:

Over at ClimateProgress, they are still publishing articles about the demise of the Great Lakes.

  8. Shazaam says:

The Great Lakes do have an ice coverage limit….

Should this season end-up beating the 1979 levels would require the warmists to indulge in some quite creative explanations of how the warming is freezing the water.

  9. AndrewS says:

More surface ice on Lake Michigan than I have ever seen in some 58 years observation. More than in the 70’s. Usually some Ice near shore for 1000-2000 feet, then open water. This year there is ice to the horizon with a few narrow bands of open water about 1/4 mile from shore.
There is open water out there but it is so distant one cannot see it. This concludes the Western Shore report.

  10. Huron is 100% frozen now, no diabetic ulcer. Joins Erie and Superior.

Michigan on the way out but not likely 100%. Ontario won’t freeze, never does.
