I understand that hurricanes have not hit the US. Does that mean they are not forming or just not hitting hitting land?
The wind speeds of a hurricane or cyclone that hits land is easier to verify and confirm by people who are independent of governments, compared to a hurricane or cyclone that never comes close to land.
Most satellite imagery of hurricanes and cyclones over oceans is generally not verified and confirmed by people who are independent of governments.
Science involves the need for independent verification and independent confirmation of empirical data, observations, measurements, etc.
There were lots of hurricanes before 2013, but very few hitting the US.

JST1 there are sites showing hurricane tracks for each year etc … I will see if I can find one. Also for current I use intellicast just because I go there for other weather info and their hurricane / storm section is okay. Now the alarmists are trying to count Hawaii as a landfalling US hurricane strike. They are so full of it. Plus the storm in question is nowhere near a hurricane when it “struck” Hawaii, even if you give into their stupid notion.
Perhaps they’ll claim that a hurricane struck “even if they have to redefine what a hurricane is!”?

the weather Brahmans here in Minnesota are now spewing the story line that this horrible “summer” is actually ‘normal’ and that we only think it’s cold because the last couple of summers were so hot. I’ve got a news flash for them. I’ve lived here for more than two decades and this is the worst summer ever. We didn’t even have ‘summer’ until the last week of July. Up until then it varied between ‘May’ and ‘October’ weather throughout June and most of July.

Minnesota summers used to be much hotter, prior to about 1960.
Quite a flood event up in the Detroit area yesterday and last night. The trucking company I work for has a terminal off of Wayne Road near the airport. Water over 2′ deep where the trailers were backed into the docks. Wayne road blocked by flooding so drivers had to enter the back way.
Meanwhile at my own little corner of the earth a little SE of Anderson, IN I did not mow my yard this weekend due to lack of rain. It is as if Summer has finally arrived here in mid August. Usually the yard starts browning by early July. Now I have just a couple brown spots that have appeared in the last week.
Whats the point of this? Just saying that the average person doesn’t need instruments to note the changes from year to year and to notice what is exceptional. They can see it by simple observation over time in their own areas. That is why all the kings horse and all the kings men cannot put the Humpty Dumpty of AGW together again not matter what their credentials or positions may be and no matter how much of the record they distort. They simply can’t pull the wool over the eyes of the rational in Joe public no matter how many lies they pile upon each other.
There will come a tipping point eventually.

You are right – people, not everybody, but observant people, notice the weather and climate over time. I know I have, and it just isn’t getting hotter summer after summer – it’s getting cooler here in Phoenix. This has been a mild summer – it is just amazing how mild it has been. And August has been amazing. Barely gets over 100 F and then only for a little while and it cools off in the late afternoon.
Steven lived here in the hot years and one factor out here is that the late afternoon in summer generally scorches! And frequently it will not cool off all night. Also weird cooling I have never noticed out here. About three weeks ago I camped out about halfway to San Diego out in the desert, and it was monsoon. Warm all night, mosquitoes, rained a little around 10:00 PM, but at about 3:00 AM it got really humid and chilly! Very weird.
Last weekend I camped at 6000 feet – and it got downright cold. People, this is August in Southern Arizona! Now I’m sure it is all within normal temperature ranges historically, but isn’t it suppose to be getting unlivable hot in the desert Southwest?

So far, the predictions are not coming true. It is just fine here. I’ll let you all know when it is becoming unlivable. A friend of mine has a place on the beach in Huntington Beach California, and he is keeping his eyes on the sea-level rise catastrophic forecasts. I’ll also let everyone know if he is getting flooded. He’s just renting so don’t worry.
It’s been like that in Yuma, also. Several Saturdays back we had a record low low and probably a low high record. I saw a high of 89, but Weather Underground claimed it got up to 91 after the fact. We drove to Show Low the next day. Two hours west of there it was late afternoon with rain. Our car thermometer said it was 63 degrees outside and it was a shock to get out of the car a little later. We were at 7,500 feet at the time.
Today was around 98 degrees for a high with showers. We are definitely in a down trend.

This one’s a rather average Autumnal Blast here. It didn’t get as cool as the blast two weeks ago. We got two weeks of ‘summer’, well, not quite; given the lower than humidity, so only HH. The average high hits 90F in early June and remains there through early September. We might have had 30 or so days of 90+ this year to date and might get 10 to 20 more before the mid-September big cool-off. If we get a real Indian Summer (we’ve not had many of them to my recollection the last 30 or so years) we might see 90 for a few days over Oct and Nov, before the secondary tornado season sets in. October is our driest month. Our seasons are: Wet, Summer, and Dry.
