Gavin Ran Out Of Blue Crayon

Gavin used to think Antarctica was cooling, until he lost his blue crayon.

While most of the Earth warmed rapidly during recent decades, surface temperatures decreased significantly over most of Antarctica.

Gavin was confused by this map, and figured he should extrapolate across the globe.

Tony / folks … perhaps we could pass the hat for donations to buy Gavin a couple of new blue crayons 😉

  3. emsnews says:

    How about aquamarine blue? 🙂

  4. Gail Combs says:

Just in case any of you missed it. The days of a free speech internet are numbered.

Congress looking into White House’s role in FCC’s net neutrality regulations

As we well know what a politician names a law or regulation is the exact opposite of what the laws intent is. Just like the ‘Patriot Act’ is used to attack American Patriots, I am sure we will soon find Neutrality = Censorship.

    • Gail Combs says:

…The secrecy surrounding the Obama administration’s plans for regulating the Internet has prompted a congressional inquiry into whether the independent Federal Communications Commission or the White House and its allies are calling the shots over the future of the nation’s broadband networks.

A top adviser to Tom Wheeler, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), defended Wheeler’s decision to hide his latest draft of Internet regulations from the public until after the agency voted on them at the end of the month during a public question and answer session on Twitter held on Friday, Feb. 6.

Gigi Sohn, Wheeler’s special counsel for external affairs, pointed to over 4 million public comments submitted to the agency as proof of the public’s support, despite the diversity of the content of those comments….

The ocean is heating at 0.002 C per year, that justifies use of the most intense flaming red crayon they can find.

I guess better late than never. Ace of Spades just posted a story on the adjustments.

    • Anything is possible says:

Your iceberg is 70 sq km (just over 1 Manhatten), whilst Antarctica is 4 times the size of the USA.

The only thing we have a “large chunk” of here is alarmist hyperbole.

      • Jim Hunt says:

It’s bigger than your average iceberg, Boo Boo!

        • “While large icebergs calve regularly from fast-flowing ice shelves in West Antarctica, the coast of cooler, drier East Antarctica tends to be less active. That made it a mild surprise when a 70-square-kilometer chunk of ice broke off from the King Baudouin Ice Shelf in January 2015. The last time that part of King Baudouin calved such a large iceberg was in the 1960s.”

“Does the birth of this iceberg suggest that King Baudouin Ice Shelf is weakening? Probably not. In an interview (below) published by the International Polar Foundation, Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) glaciologist Reinhard Drews explained that ice velocity measurements dating back to the 1960s suggest the ice shelf has not changed much in recent decades.”

        • Ernest Bush says:

And we should be alarmed about it how? Idiot

        • gator69 says:

Hey Jim! How’s it coming with Gore? Have you confronted him yet over his use of extreme alarmist rhetoric on the world stage in Oslo?

If not, why not? Too close to being ethical?

Meanwhile a large chunk of East Antarctica has just fallen off:

And here I thought continents were made of rock. 😆

    • That is what glaciers do when they flow to the sea. Amateur hacks should stay out of this debate.
