I’m no huge Trump backer, but he was right to skip the “debate”. That tweet is so pathetic.
Yeah Mr ” I am going to make America Great Again, how? by making America Great Again” has the right to skip the debate.– and here I am sorry if I offend anyone by asking why we are considering replacing one narcissistic ego delicate fool with another?
If he cannot stand the heat of a fox news debate, how would he fare as president?
Go Megyn Kelly!
Off track I know
Only a fool would allow himself to be ambushed in a debate
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmzGuswNDhE
good point. but think Trump can handle his own , this a big mistake on his part. On the other note only way this country can be saved is to get rid of income tax and all the agencies it funds.
The libertarian platform calls for repeal of the income tax–plank 2 of the communist manifesto of 1848. You need only vote
“…and here I am sorry if I offend anyone by asking why we are considering replacing one narcissistic ego delicate fool with another?”
Don’t worry, Megyn’s job is secure. ;-P
The public deserves to decide who they want to vote for in a rational debate format. Not the rigged debates we have had.
Rigged as in excluding the libertarians per the Nixon campaign subsidies? That entrenched looter party subsidy was signed within 24 hrs of the LP forming
Agreed. My post was dripping with sarcasm in response to darryl’s cheerleading of Megyn Kelly. To me, the Faux News network seems to be little more the right side of globalist steering of the news.
OK, we can have a debate here. Kelly simply asked a hard question, which was quite deserved based upon Trump’s attack on Carly F’s looks. and other comments he has made about various women As a teacher (now retired) I would have gotten fired for much of what he has said. Would you want a president who makes such remarks? Are those comments of a candidate debating issues rationally?
So Steve and Disillusioned, would you be willing to analyze the substance of Trump’s comments in terms of how he has contributed in a rationale manner?
I am very tired of Ad Hominen attacks, and he has been the king of it, but by far, not the only one However, he has gotten better, probably based on advice.
Yes, there has been ‘rigging’ but more so when it got away from fox news.
IMO it has been the nature of citizen response, the lack of substance to be offered, and the bloody appetite of the media that has stimulated caustic responses in all venues.
Tragically, the poor would be civil servant who has the integrity of say Mitt Romney.
The Dems and the media (are they one and the same? ) devoured his 47% off hand comment. However, in the context of what he said, it was accurate.
Sadly, emotion and not facts win.
Also, I dropped Carly, upon analyzing what she did as CEO. which related to huge compensation manifested in the other Clinton years—specifically—
Award huge amounts of stocks and options to CEO’s like C.F. which should have shown as a devaluation of stock on the books. It didn’t,
Then, she, like others, fired many in production which made earnings look good and, temporarily increased stock value, while at the same time emphasizing marketing, also increasing stock value temporarily but initiating the beginning of a company in downfall. Then, she, like others sold the stock while at its peak, making a financial killing.
In simpler terms, that is what Trump should have said about C.F.
Why not, well he knew he might have been opening Pandora’s box.——–
Now, we can analyze the methods of three or four time bankruptcy declaring trump, actually selling property short, (illegal) who claims, like Hillary, to be most interested in us little people. His methods were often just as unscrupulous, so no I do not like him. and his methods are to speak in general terms, and then attack anyone who dares penetrate his armor.
I agree the public deserves to decide, but I am sure he is afraid that specific questions will be asked of him, to which he cannot blow smoke.
Now, just see how the debate goes without him.
“Now, just see how the debate goes without him.”
The last one went fine *with* him. The FOX Business moderators weren’t asking “gotcha” questions, to any of the candidates, either. But, that didn’t happen at the FOX News debate, and the CNBC debate.
And, regardless of your dislike of Trump, he doesn’t have to live up to your idea of what a candidate should do. If you were really tired of ad hominem attacks (not sure why you capitalized the a and h), then you would not be giving a pass to FOX for their ad hominem, attacks of Trump before the debate. They were playing it up before the debate. And, Kelly didn’t “simply” ask a hard question; you’re showing your bias if you believe that.
Kelly is no angel. Kelly is very good. Sometimes she’s the best of the best, and sometimes she goes off the rails. She is known for her sharp rudeness at times. A journalist is not the news, and should not be the news. Kelly made the news about her, once again. She lacked decorum and showed her own bias. That’s not moderating. It’s not all that different to steering done by CNBC moderators, and by Candyce Crowley of CNN, etc. Kelly is brilliant. But she proved she was wearing her bias on her sleeves with her gotcha question – even with her inflection and angry look, right out of the gate. She crossed a line. She was unprofessional. Perhaps it was because she was ill that night (she was). But it seemed to me she was trying to equalize Trump to bring him down to the other candidates. That’s not her job. She was out of line.
It’s not just Kelly. Roger Ayles and FOX then mocked Trump, bringing up sarcastic BS about Putin and the Ayatolla. Then they said Trump’s last Twitter poll is “trolling”. They’ve gone into the gutter. Kelly and FOX are making the news. They have proved he was walking into a steered trap. They’re making CNN look unbiased. He’s not playing *their* game. Trump isn’t Romney. He’s not afraid of Kelly. He knew he was walking into a trap, that Ayles supports. Not dissimilar to what the RNC said to CNBC – (paraphrasing): ‘Sorry, we ain’t playin’ your game – no more debates with your ‘gotcha’ moderating.’
So, regardless of the type of decorum you think Trump should live up to, you’re giving a pass to the lack of decorum by Kelly and Fox. He is not beholden to play their game, regardless of your fondness for the blonde bomb. She played it wrong. She set this up. She made herself the news. She was out of line – as was her boss. That’s the way I see it. 😉
I’m not a Trump sycophant. For instance, I do not agree with him on the issue of farm subsidies. Not at all.
Disillusioned, thanks for replying.
The capitals on the a and h are just bad habits and not taking time to proof read..
Maybe I look at Kelly and I am not thinking critically. Sad.
Over the years, he acted in polar opposite to every positive quality I used to try to impart to family and students. He has so often used people as tools for his objectives, and then discarded them. You might want to check on just some of his various comments.
But in the political arena, what he has stated is fair game.
He stated specific disgusting observations about C.F.’s face To me, that shows an ineptness to go beyond the superficial and into specifics.
My question is then , as a perspective supreme statesman, why doesn’t any comment made in a debate, specifically one of that magnitude, allow for a follow up question? Everything Kelly stated as part of the question, is verifiable, I checked on it.
He stated it, and that got much attention, therefore, IMO he should expect a response, in kind.
I watch Megyn Kelly’s show, but that question about the war on women was bogus.
Since when does anyone at Fox News believe there is a war on women?
War on women is made up BS, so the question was definitely not appropriate.
She could have asked him about his comments without bringing Democratic talking point lies into it.
Not a Trump fan, but I’m not a fan of any of the other “contenders” either.
But I don’t think Trump is afraid to debate anyone, anywhere, any time.
I think Trump’s choice to skip the “debate” was a tactical one. If he was trailing or trending downwards he’d attend.
It’s a win/win. Trump gets to fight against the “main stream media” and Kelly gets to promote herself as someone who asks the “tough” questions. Forget the fact that what she asked was neither “tough” nor particularly hard to answer/deflect by Trump.
I’m also convinced that the whole Kelly/Trump feud has been kept alive by both of them as a means of mutual self-promotion. Look for a big reconciliation some time later this year.
It also serves to immunize Trump if he wins the nomination once the real MSM starts the attacks if it becomes certain that he will win the nomination. Lord knows that his career is so well documented and recorded that hours of “blooper” reels could be compiled.
If even the evangelicals are lining up behind him, I believe his core voters aren’t going to be bothered about some off-hand crap he said years ago in a completely different context.
I contend the question was absolutely deserved and expected.
If you make a statement in a debate, the likes of which has rarely if every been done before, what in God’s green earth would be expected??
He has done it all his damn life.
I am surprised it did not happen sooner.
I have seen this school yard type of bully all my life. and when one simply repeats what he said, and asks about it, the bully pouts, the thin skin bleeding.
. If he says it, then put on your big boy pants and deal with.it.
Today, of course, all he could do is call Kelly a bimbo.
Since when, repeat that, since when, does a candidate tell a news organization what to do. His ego is such that he thinks everybody loves him and he will bloody fox news.
They can challenge what the organization has done or said, but the idea of don’t put someone there I don’t like because they might hurt my feelings, and not ask what I want
Seriously!
That they were soft on other candidates is not the issue, it is only a rationale and is valid in its own sense but not in the fact that Trump is simply lying (resting) in his own excrement. He should not have made that choice.
I am beginning to see leftist thinking emerging,. As in lets everybody be tolerant, but not be intolerant of my intolerance,
If Trump was a man of character, he would be in the debate, period and not run from it.
A president has to face everything and not go golfing when situations arise.
If Mahmoud Ahmadinejad challenges the President of the United States to a debate at the UN the President at the United does not have a duty to accept. He has a duty to not accept and thereby lower the dignity of the office.
The President has a duty to outmaneuver his opposition and “win” for his country.
I’m not comparing the debate to Ahmadinejad. I’m simply pointing out that this is a “win” for Trump and that he has outmaneuvered his opposition (and not Fox News in my opinion). He’s not in the election to attend debates.
It’s what he does to win. He always wins. He knows how to play the game. And for better or worse politics at all levels is a game. If Romney had Trump’s instincts he would have won or at least come a lot closer to winning.
I’m tired of a generation of Republican leaders who lie back and just take whatever the Alinsky inspired opposition doles out with quiet dignity.
If I trusted his core principles I’d be a big booster for him. I just don’t know what those core principles are.
darrylb, your follow up post is delusional. Megyn Kelly’s inappropriate questions had nothing at all to do with the Carly (horseface) comment as that had not yet taken place. It was about comments he made about Rosie O’Donnell in response to an attack SHE had launched. And about a completely out of context story from an episode of Apprentice years earlier.
You are a fine hypocrite attacking someone for something they had not yet said, while inappropriately attacking someone yourself.
Incidentally, the attack Kelly made about the TV show was nonsense. The very woman involved came out and support Trump right after this lie was thrown out by the “journalist.” She explained the context, stated that Trump was amazingly respectful towards her, and that she supported him in his bid for President.
At least give a better disguise for your lies if you want to trash someone.
I’m more a Cruz guy, but it’s prudent not to voluntarily walk into a set-up or “roast.” I actually believe that Trump’s setting a good precedent here. Boycott all unfair media until some semblance of fairness is provided.
FYI: In American lamestream etiquette Megyn has a free hand to trash Trump at every turn, but if Trump returns fire he’s dead meat.
To compare Megyn Kelly to Candy Crowley is bizarre. Crowley was a Leftist Democrat trying to take down a Republican candidate in the general election by spewing nonsense under the guise of objective journalism so that Obama might be re-elected.
Kelly is a fairly conservative person who apparently happened to take offense at some rather ugly and unnecessary things Trump had said about others; she quoted Trump accurately and in return Trump told the entire country she made it up, and later Trump told the country she had been “bleeding from her, you know, where-EVER.”
Only a hard Leftist would find that behavior by Trump toward Kelly to be acceptable. Only a Leftist would suggest that Kelly had no right to bring the subject up. And only a Leftist supporting a Leftist candidate would say that it’s good thing for that Leftist candidate to avoid exposing himself to accurate criticism if it might cost him the election.
The news and research press in America has long benn worse than Soviet Pravda.
We are just awakening to reality.
I assure you that is not the case. Pravda and contemporary Russian Today beat American MSM in evil.
In reality Nixon used your money to pay the media to ignore the LP–since 1971
Breitbart has a bit more news on the behind the scenes politics.

Gail, have you looked closely at the bill? My understanding is that it gives a proper, but not necessarily easy road to citizenship.
And if individuals are vetted and do not meet the standard, then there is a specific reason to immediately deport.
About 40% + or – of illegals, it has been reported, are people not from the Americas, but people who have overstayed there proper time.
Right now, we are in a terrible situation. When people are willing to risk death by uncertain means of travel and more to come here, as did many of our forefathers, there needs to be a specific process in place.
Sanctuary cities should be eliminated, but in some places there are businesses which depend upon them.
I know too many illegals, I work with their children, as does my wife. Many are very afraid, but would be willing to do whatever is necessary to attain citizenship and would value it as the greatest gift they have ever received. It anyone blows it by criminal action, sorry, see ya! No money will be wasted on you.
Now as a caveat to what I just said, there are some customs that are very annoying to my sense of dress right, dress!
darrylb says…..
First, I have no dislike of Hispanics. We love working for them and generally cut them a good deal. We have made the effort to learn some Spanish too.
Second the immigration problem was DELIBERATELY CAUSE by the elite via NAFTA. 75% of the Mexican farmers were driven out of business on purpose. It was all about driving people off the land to become cheap labor. They did it to Scotland tenant farmers, they did it to American farmers after WWII and now they are doing it to the third world farmers. Flood the market, up the unemployment and the employer gets to set the price and work conditions.
However illegal immigration IS ILLEGAL! If the USA wants to up the quotes they up the quotes and let people come in the front door. They get background checks and health checks and they prove they can be an asset and they WANT to be Americans… AND THEY LEARN ENGLISH. As my very angry bank teller says, she came in here legally got her citizenship and she very much resents those coming in the back door.
The USA has ALREADY gone the Amnesty route and it did nothing but encourage a bigger flood. — Ronald Reagan (1987) and George H.W. Bush (1990) — In 2006 we were promised the wall. We got the illegal immigrants. We didn’t get the wall.
Finally with the flood over the southern border come drugs, criminals and Jihadists.

And all we get is denial from the government and the MSM. We get crap about Home Grown Terrorists and told to shut up about the flood of unfriendlies streaming in. link
Tell me Dave do you leave your doors open so any one can walking in and just take over your house? That is what you are asking us as a country to do.
And in some cases that is literal:
Residents Powerless to Remove Illegal Immigrants From Their Gardens
This also happened in California with Mexicans occupying a guys garden shed and he was not allowed to evict them. (I can not find link.)
Dynasty (England) defeated by peasant uprising. Peasants start own dynasty (America). Rulers no longer want to be farmers so agree to ‘rent’ land to immigrants (Mexicans). Next step is renters-turn-squaters refuse to leave and are too populace to be forced; and change ethnic make up of land forever.
This is not new. It is history repeating.
I am no expert whatsoever but look up history of what we called Manchuria and the start of the Qing Dynasty starting in the 1600s. Man it looks/sounds familiar.
The time span is 300 years. we are in year 200ish. Can anyone guess what Americans look like in 2125? If history repeats that will be the official end of America.
That is my prediction that nobody can prove wrong until we get there and i will be dead and dont care. Now if i can only find a way to get a nobel prize and a trillion dollars from my made up theory.
The parallel is real though. Manchuria:USA
Hey Gail, were you speaking to me Darryl?? or Dave. Of course Dave is the Anglo-Saxon form of David, which means beloved and I know everyone feels so beloved to me in this thread 🙂 and I think you meant quotas instead of quotes or were you just thinking how beloved you find me.
I hope you know that I am smiling and almost laughing the most I have today because usually I agree with you fully, or you with me, and would just like to be in the room when you read this. You might like to put me out to pasture with your other critters for an hour or two. Did snow make it hard on any of them?
Ok, now for a little bit of serious comment. I am the product of farm settlers in southern MN. Much of what you say is true, but there is more to it.
Farms have gone from 80 to 800 to in some cases 8,000 acres, this type of thing has happened across the United States and illegal farm hands have had little or nothing to do with it.
I love the picture of my grandfather with his team of work horses Tony and Bunce.
Now, machines that are so big that I hardly recognize them receive information from satellites as they move across fields putting just the right things on them. Worse yet,
family farms are disappearing, in favor of corporate owned distant, city dwelling owners.
I liked the old, free range days. All I can say with certainty is that very few illegals have effected these farms.
The canning factories and the like are something different. Here, I know for a fact that U.S citizens and illegals can be working side by side, the illegals which may live in temporary housing, sometimes without even indoor facilities are paid half or less than half of what the person next to them earns. .
I may have said before that my wife and I were foster parents and are adoptive parents of special needs children. That was our pro-life statement. That makes our lives a struggle emotionally and financially. But it is what we chose.
It is so important that everyone feels valued in doing even the most meager of work.
Say what you will about Trump, but regardless of what he now says, he has put and used people with whom we work very hard in the category of the waste material of the earth
People usually do not remember much of what you say, or even what you do. They will remember how you made them feel.
Incidentally, and unfortunately, that temporary verbal narcotic is how Obama got into office.
That is darryl is the anglo saxxon form of david. and it would help if darryl proof reads.
One Dave is enough.
Darryl & Dave,
I really really wish we had a nice selection of candidates and the jobs to welcome the illegals but we do not. We also do not have the money left in the government coffers to support them.
Our unemployment is ~24% Our good paying jobs are going to H 1B visa holders with Americans having to train them and the lower paying jobs go to illegals.
I just had my roof put on. The owner of the roofing company was a white and the entire crew latino only one of whom could speak English. My next door neighbor is a carpenter and gave up because he can not compete for the low wages. Four guys in a trailer vs one guy and his wife and kids. The four guys are going to demand less pay especially when it is under the table.
Yes, I feel for the other people in other countries but it does no one any good if this country is floode, our culture and economy destroyed and the US becomes just another third world hell hole. Unfortunately that looks like the plan and it scares the hell out of me.
I don’t believe anyone would disagree that we need to have a legal, orderly immigration process and not simply be overrun.
Hey Andy DC! “I don’t believe anyone would disagree that we need to have a legal, orderly immigration process and not simply be overrun.”
Sorry to be so blunt, but…WRONG!!
Of course I agree with you. And probably more than 9 out of 10 US citizens agree with you. But sadly, WE don’t count. Why? Because the House of Representatives disagrees. And the Senate disagrees. And the President disagrees. And the Supreme Court disagrees. Let’s see… That is 435 Congressmen, 100 Senators, 1 President and 9 Supreme Court Justices. There are 545 people who disagree with you and me and everyone else, so that makes it roughly 545 to 300,000,000. Wow! Guess what? They win!
Unfortunately the corporate oligarchy have had a majority in both the House and Senate for most of my lifetime. Most corporate planning is concerned with this and next quarter’s profits, and at most a year’s. Thus illegals and H1Bs. At the party leadership level the Democrats want the votes and the Republicans want the cheap labor. Long term damage is ignored.
In addition the overlords want the border open so it does not become obvious to Joe Sixpack that the Cocaine Import Agency and it’s cohorts are the actual major distributors of cocaine and heroin in this country. They are directed by the major banks who are now dependent on their cut of the profit. Other corporate interests also need this trade to supply slave labor to their prison factories. Thus the “War on Drugs” is about controlling the competition and keeping the prisons full.
“MORE POPCORN!!!”
Good choice. I understand it is one strain of maize that hasn’t been genetically modified… yet. ;-D
Google: Peter Sutherland undermine national homogeneity.

When was that tweet sent? Just curious.
Megyn: “How long ago did you stop beating your wife”
Trump: “Bye Megyn”
It’s a valid question if the beatings are on record.
Huh?
I simply cannot explain it in any simpler terms. Sorry.
Huh? (Again…)
Sorry you haven’t kept up.
Of limited interest across the pond, perhaps, but the problems are identical:

H/T to John Ward @ http://www.hat4uk.wordpress.com who deconstructs the bollix put out in political & economic spheres.
On reflection – after my last comments denigrating Trump’s behaviour in Scotland – I realised that almost my entire news source for the story were the evil PC pushing BBC and a similar minded channel 4.
And seeing that even Fox seems to have been bought and sold – I doubt whether Trump had a fair hearing in Scotland.
That is why I bought his books and am awaiting their arrival.
I understand that here in the USA someone did not want to sell and Trump left her alone. That got twisted and used to say he forced the woman out.
We KNOW the MSM lies.
We know that TRUMP lies, thanks to his book that you spoke approvingly of.
https://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2016/01/27/ambush-averted/#comment-570624
Now you’ve been shown this. If you continue to ignore it and call Trump honest and decent, then we will know that YOU would lie in order to try to get Trump elected. I pray that you don’t.
Megyn didn’t seem so offended by Howard Stern?
https://youtu.be/IML_UGhXz2Q
Is there a point here? Howard Stern is obsessed with body parts, he even made a movie…
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b8/Howard_Sterns_Private_Parts_Film_Poster.JPG
Turn the tables…
“Megyn, you were interviewed flippantly by Howard Stern, a man who constantly ogles women and has porn stars naked during his interviews performing sexual acts. He called Lena Dunham, for example, a “fat little girl” and says other insulting things of this sort. You also said there’s no law that stops network television from firing a person for “being ugly”, though this seems to apply to women not to the men on Fox? How would you respond to your critics, with your powerful position, that say you have betrayed your gender and joined in on the war on women? Also, how can someone take your question to Donald Trump seriously when you have not taken it seriously yourself?”
Not that I’d really care, honestly. I don’t think Trump is warring on women any more than Megyn or Howard. They’ll try to dig up mud on Trump or whomever becomes the front-runner. The “war on women” thing faded quickly when Trump brought up Clinton’s indiscretions for some reason. So in the end, Megyn’s question only seem to help Trump, which is why if he doesn’t do the debate, his numbers will probably go up even more than if he does the debate.
I have always preferred really tough questions, the kind you know the left will bring up after the primaries. It is critical that candidates be vetted early on, to be sure that they can handle the real heat later. That is why I thought Megyn was simply doing her job.
Stern is not running for commander in chief, thank God,
which brings me to a question. Has anyone here, besides me served in the military?
Has anyone here every known what it feels like to face the possibility of an ambush everyday?
The question is not about Kelly, it is about Trump. A commander in Chief cannot hide from his or her responsibilities, ever. This is not about meeting with some low life foreign leader, This is about debating an issue for the benefit of American citizens,
and if Trump is qualified he should be able to prepare for it and deal with whatever is asked.
I was a combat engineer platoon Sargent, 12 Bravo. Chicken shit responses like his just do not cut it. You don’t do anyone a favor by taking it easy on him.
I was beginning to like some things he was saying, but now, oh well.
.
and I just read Gator’s comment, re tough questions— spot on.
Trump says he wants to have the biggest baddest military of all times, and claims he wants to do more for Veterans. Then insults McCain and says he’s not a real war hero because he got captured. Trump himself got deferments and avoided Vietnam.
I don’t know what to think sometimes of the guy, he puts his foot in his mouth and can act petulant, like with the Megyn Kelly thing, on the other hand will do some fund raising for vets instead, which is probably mostly political grandstanding. But at least he is entertaining.
I’ve had more interest in this election than others and know because of several issues, AGW being one, I’m voting to the Right. I admit voting for Obama and being under the spell of “save the planet”. I believe we can be environmentally conscious and not be for AGW. Trump said he considered clean water and air a top priority over climate change, which agrees with most Americans in polls they’ve taken.
We could use a good business person for President rather than a typical politician that curry favors. He says what’s on his mind and let’s the chips fall. I think people like that about him, even if it insults people or hurts people’s feelings. He doesn’t seem to care about his own image, like the politically correct crowd. But of course, he cares about having a different image, being a tough guy. When it comes to foreign leaders, you get the feeling he’ll walk away from a “bad deal” and he wants to stop the hemorrhaging of good American jobs. How he plans to do this is really going to be where the tougher questions come after these primaries.
Thank you for your service, sir. I say that sincerely. I know the military and many veterans have been put through a lot with indecision and politicians making the decisions back home while they’re losing limbs. I’ve met many vets on the streets that seem abandoned by the VA bureaucracy.
I was against the Irag invasion after 9/11 and was called unpatriotic by many and to this day it has strained some relations, I got depressed. I asked the supporters how they will answer those going into the line of fire and if they were willing to go themselves, easy to armchair invade. The MSM was acting like cheerleaders, not asking real questions. Now we have ISIS. Trump was not for it either, or Vietnam for that matter. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t patriotic, IMO. At some point, he’ll have to control his tongue a little better probably. But so far it’s gotten plenty of free airtime!
From Matthew Bracken (UK) author of Enemies Foreign and Domestic. (He really wants out of Europe.)
An excellent Essay: Tet, Take Two: Islam’s 2016 European Offensive
A very small bit:
I like Ted Cruz…..
how are his chances?
Ted Cruz’s wife is VP of Goldman-Sachs and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a Globalist traitor.
Read this: Tet, Take Two: Islam’s 2016 European Offensive
(I hope like heck this guy is wrong but I do not think so.)
The background:
A repeat of this is being orchestrated in Europe and to a lesser extent here in the USA. The globalist have every intention of completely destroying Europe and the USA to pave the way for a world government. In preparation they have moved the technology and wealth out of the USA and EU. CAGW and the World Trade Organization and other ‘free trade’ treaties were the means.
I was in Viet Nam <–[old timey spelling] just after the Tet offensive. There were housing blocks where half or more of the residents were murdered by local VC in one night.
The VC had mingled for years, and determined who was a government supporter, who was anti-Communist, etc. When Tet fighting broke out, teams of VC went around at night killing everyone on the list they could find. It was easy because the killers were their 'friends'.
Like most young soldiers I had a Vietnamese girlfriend, and I'd spend time in town [Tuy Hoa, ?80 mi south of Qui Nhon]. She told me all about it. One afternoon someone opened up with an AK-47 on full auto right outside our window. He couln't have been more than ten feet away, but we never saw him. Scared hell out of us. Everyone was very much on edge.
Reading Gail's account above, I began to wonder if some of the friendly illegals flooding in are putting together lists of names…
Give me nightmare why don’t you Smokey.
Hey Smokey! “I began to wonder if some of the friendly illegals flooding in are putting together lists of names…”
Very possibly. In addition there are probably half a dozen Three Letter Agencies with their own lists (made for their own reasons.) Here is my suggestion. Start your own list, a list of people you trust. Keep in touch with them. The future is very unsettled right now, and while I do not see any chance of the world going “Mad Max” there may very well be political or financial unrest in our future. Do you know a good Doctor? A good (don’t laugh!) lawyer? Someone who is good at fixing cars? Someone who owns a farm or is a good gardener? Those are all good people to know. Keep a list.
Oh, one more list, just for laughs! Keep a list of people who you do NOT trust. If you are ever questioned “harshly” about who your friends are, give them one of THOSE names. 🙂
Smokey, what was your MOS? (for non-military, your job)
I went to basic in Leonard Wood 8 August 68— an Tet started heating up
Silly me, I thought I could get out of service if I became a teacher.
GAIL, comparing the current situation to Tet, I think is valid, and I have not thought about it that way. I am convinced that we are still feeling the ramifications of that war in many negative ways. I really believe HO Che Minh (sp? just wanted to feed his people and we should have learned from the French.
Gail, and anyone else also, I think you might be misreading, or I am not explaining well what I intended to write regarding immigration, illegals etc. The current situation is a mess. We need a viable plan, and if we followed the law as it stands currently situations like families being split would occur. Also, there are a huge number of sanctuary cities across the United States.
Rhetoric will not cut. it.
Then there are situations like Mexican citizens being forced to grow Pot in CA or their family members would be mutilated. Yes, there are illegals and I have seen or know of various local factories being raided by the Feds looking for illegals. Invariably, they are warned ahead of time, they leave for a day or two and then come back. Like I said, it is a mess and not an easy one with which to deal.
So the solution in a nutshell, is plan a road to citizen ship, challenging but attainable, including some mastery of the English language. If that path is not followed, including avoidance of any and all criminal activity then deportation. It would have to be a continual process.
We have to remember that about 40% of current illegals are not from the Americas.
The more difficult problem is how to stop the influx. I have to agree, we just cannot be the idealistic benevolent country of the past. One in one hundred or a thousand being a terrorist is not acceptable. We see that in what is happening in Europe.

Australia owed a huge debt to the US for the Pacific war – although the US had a pretty damn good provocation for intervention.
But one of the biggest favours the US ever did Australia was accepting Rupert Murdoch as a citizen – if only we disallowed dual citizenship we could be even better off.
No matter what you believe no one should accept any person has the right to use media ownership to push their preferred agenda – such actions undermine every positive thing democracy has to offer.

Donald Trump’s major proposals:
1. Mandate e-verify
2. Strengthen interior enforcement
3. End Visa Overstays
4. Stop Amnesty
5. Improve border enforcement
6. Rebuild and Strengthen the Military
7. Build the Wall
8. Create Illegal Alien Hotline
9. Cut off Federal Funding for Sanctuary Cities
10. Create “Sheriff Joe” prisons for Illegal aliens convicted of committing crimes in the U.S. — beyond the ongoing crime of being here illegally
What’s wrong with that? Sounds sensible to me.
Trump has expert advice now.
Looks like the politics of presidential race have flooded this blog. I thought it was a climate blog. Just can not seem to get away from the election anywhere.
I’m in Australia.. feeling somewhat left out..
Difficult to get interested..
I just want a US president who will end this climate change crap and bring the alarmista blob to account somehow.
I’ve been reading Australia’s Liberal Democratic Party platform. Yanks hate liberals for repealing national prohibition, and voters like anything prohibitionists hate nowadays.
Yanks hate liberals for repealing national prohibition…
Huh? Nothing could be further from the truth. Progressives gave us Prohibition, and I don’t know a single US citizen that pines for seeing alcohol banned. You should come drinking with us sometime, and get to know us better.
Good luck on that. I’m afraid it’s been hammered into the zeitgeist. But Real climate change, to colder, if the Solar sleepers are correct, may be the only thing that can counter the blob.
All you have to do is mention the libertarian party and the soft machine infiltrators sidle away
Actually several of us lean or are libertarian. Gator for one and me for the other.
Unfortunately if you vote libertarian you actually vote democrat (Gag, Choke)
At one point in 2010 we had three parties Rasmussen showed 1/3 Democrat, 1/3 Republican and 1/3 Tea Party. That scared the Elite so you got the Blair-Rockefeller Poll calling the Tea Party racist by using rigged questions and of course the MSM ran with it. End of Tea Party.
Hey TomE! “I thought it was a climate blog.”
Well, it is mostly a climate blog — but it is really just a personal blog and Tony Heller posts on whatever subject he finds interesting. Most of the time that is climate. Often it is politics. Sometimes it is environmentalism or economics or even details of his latest trip.
“Real Science is like a box of chocolates…” 🙂
You’re falling into the warmists’ trap. If not for the Democrat party “climate change” would be a trivial curiosity.
This is a good thread because it DEFINITELY shows we don’t all drink from the same pitcher of Koo-Aid.
The irony is that we’re usually so much politer to the AGW dissenters here (until they Martin-ize themselves) than we are to each other.
There’s a LOT if ideological diversity here. The other side just prefers to see us as a bunch of Bible-thumping, racist, evolution denying flat-earthers who all sup at the trough (or maybe manger) of Big Oil. Hah!
The arguments on whether the Greenhouse Effect is even real on ANY level are perhaps the best ones that occasionally pop up here.
Dave, the nastiest fights are always between family.
With luck our discussions will help us figure out the least obnoxious candidate.
Amen to that, Gail. Amen to that.
A bit more from Matthew Bracken.
Remember that since 9/11 the elite have brought into the USA 1.6 million islamists.
I hope for the sake of friends in the EU Matt is incorrect but I do not think so. As he said, when the islamist reach 10% they try to take over and they fight dirty like ambulances or police cars full of bombs. In the EU that 10% is healthy young fighting males with weapons against soft brainwashed fuzzy thinking lambs.
The only ticket that will win an election against Hillary 100% is a Cruz/Rubio one. All others havent’ got a chance. Nearly all latinos (~30% of USA population?) will vote for Cruz.
nope, the Cubans and Mexicans here are all for Trump…
…they think he will get them jobs/money
They are not interested in citizenship or any of the crap…they are here for the money
Not all of them, some do not like him (that i interact with) but most really do not pay attention to any of it, the TV is on watching movies
Eliza, I think it’s more like 15%, though the Democratic ones are disproportionately likely to vote twice.
The problem we face WRT Latinos is that, while they will probably be fairly split this coming November, if the nominee is Trump, whatever Latino support he has now will evaporate as the Democrats start in on him. And that is much harder to make happen with a Cruz candidacy, because Cruz doesn’t project vitriol toward outsiders on an almost daily basis. That one thing about Trump has got to be one of the most bone-headed campaign strategies I’ve ever seen. If he does get nominated, it’s likely to be Goldwater-squared, partly because of that Latino issue.
Readers of my previous comments on the election know that I hold that this error by Trump is a deliberate attempt to sabotage the Republicans, at the behest of Bill Clinton, and that Trump is ON RECORD admitting to this. (Sorry I have to repeat that, but there are some curious individuals around here who seem not to want to listen to inconvenient facts such as that one.)
Id love if Trump COULD actually win but he doesn’t have a horseXXXX chance in hell of ever getting elected
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/01/28/69-percent-say-president-trump-makes-them-anxious/
The GOP will commit political suicide if they put him over Cruz
If we end up with Hitlery or Bernie or Cruz/Rubio the USA as a sovereign country is dead.
A Trump/Cruz ticket would leave Trump vulnerable to a JFK move putting Cruz in charge.
Rand Paul is also all for these Free Trade Agreements so he is no help.link ” As trade began to blossom with China, many conservatives, myself included, came to admit that trade improves our economic well-being AND makes us less likely to fight. The success of trade with China made many conservatives rethink their view of the world.” Guess he missed the growing trade deficit, increased unemployment and falling wages.
Cruz will sell the USA out the the North American Union which was Curz’s wife’s baby** It has been expanded and renamed href=”http://www.thesocialcontract.com/artman2/publish/tsc_25_4/tsc_25_4_elbel.shtml”>The Sovereignty-Busting Trans-Pacific Partnership This treaty literally strips the USA of sovereignty and allows totalitarian rule by Corporations and bureaucrats with a bit of help from NGOs to add a veneer of ‘democracy.’ Synopsis FROM THE US GOVERNMENT
The final passage of Trade Promotion Authority (TPP) gives the president authority without Congress in the matters of international trade for six years. The Trans-Pacific Partnership allows the addition of trading partners (like China) and allows international corporations the RIGHT to enforce ANY treaty the USA has signed. An international tribunal not Americans will judge whether the USA has to obey these non-American international corporations.
Unlike some other treaties the TPP has enforcement. Worse, as can be seen if you read between the lines it has ENFORCEMENT FOR OTHER TREATIES! The Groniad says this about the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement:

Hey Gail! “A Trump/Cruz ticket would leave Trump vulnerable to a JFK move putting Cruz in charge. ”
Most people like to think that such things do not happen. Then again, most people do not remember how close Reagan cam to dying when he was shot after only three months in office. Even fewer people remember that the man who shot him was the son of one of Vice President Bush’s biggest supporters, or that the ammunition used was a small exploding round not commonly available, but used by the CIA. That would be the same CIA that Vice President Bush was in command of. http://www.nytimes.com/1981/04/03/us/explosive-bullet-struck-reagan-fbi-discovers.html
Personally, I think Reagan was severely constrained in what powers he was allowed to exercise after his unexpected survival.
I have learned one thing above all else here on this thread. Actually, I knew it before but now I really know it.
Gail has absolute and strong opinions! 🙂 But also, she would never sell out her integrity. and I value that above most everything else.
Thanks Darrylb,
Realize I am only supporting Trump at this time because none of the other candidates are willing to halt Globalization masquerading under the name ‘Free trade’
Also Donald Trump said in a new video released on Facebook that Common Core is a “disaster”
So that is another plus on his side of the ledger.
Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are the only GOP candidates to sign a Sunshine Summit pledge to end the Common Core standards.
Jeb Bush, endorsed Common Core. No big surprise there.
At this point I really wish those book would get here. The America We Deserve was written 15 years ago in 2000 before the financial crisis, before 9/11 and the Iraq War, and before Obummer. It should give an idea of what his ideas actually are instead of what the MSM says they are and how consistent he is
It should give an idea of what his ideas actually are instead of what the MSM says they are
Or, you could just listen to the words he speaks, which come out of radios, televisions, and video-enabled internet devices.
Oh, that’s right. You don’t believe in any of that.
Right then! Carry on in your blissful ignorance of what Trump has said about his own beliefs. ::facepalm::
But do us a favor, if you would, and stop telling us that it’s some bizarre mystery why we have trouble with knowing what Trump has said about his current positions during the campaign. The only reason you have trouble with that is because (according to you) you won’t listen to any radio, you haven’t turned on a television since 1974, and you’ve had no access to Internet video since before the campaign started.
Well, the Internet problem I can kind of understand. The radio thing, I really don’t understand, but to each their own. Your aversion to television … is a principled position which I can respect! (I also had no television in my home from 1994-2000.)
But if you’re going to do all that … don’t you have a civic responsibility to take other people’s word for what he’s saying in the present day, on the campaign trail? And not just sit there and say, Well, I can’t possibly know what he’s said until I get his books? Isn’t that kind of implying that the rest of us are liars when we quote Trump speaking extemporaneously in public about his socialist and Communistic positions?
I sat out the last three presidential elections as none of the major party candidates offered a single thing that mattered to me.
In this election one of the competitors for the GOP nomination is offering two things that matter to me:
1. Returning control of K-12 education to the local community.
2. Closing useless federal organizations such as the EPA.
If you don’t who made these proposals and many others that I like you should read “Crippled America”.
In November 2016 I will be voting and there will be many people like me so this election will have a higher turnout than any of the last three.

And he said the same thing 15 years prior to that.

Trump admits that he makes hyperbolic statements because “if you’re not afraid to be outspoken, the media will write about you or beg you to come on their shows.” He justifies this strategy by saying that he is a businessman and “When was the last time you saw a sign hanging outside a pizzeria claiming ‘The fourth best pizza in the world’?!”[1]
TRANSLATION, “Trump admits to LYING because he knows decent Republican voters will BELIEVE his lies, and vote for him, and then can do whatever he REALLY wants after he gets into office, and he can spend the next four to eight years laughing his backside off at those stupid schm—s who are so easily taken advantage of because they just ASSUME he is honest like they are.”
Trump admits in this quote he is not the best, but that he will only ever tell you he is the best, because it’s the only way to get whatever he’s trying to get from you.
How is that NOT the philosophy of Leftism, and how is it NOT the way that Hitler got into office?? If I’m so stupid about this, it should EASY to knock over my argument. So DO IT! Otherwise, if you can’t, and if you have integrity, you’ll quit with the nonsense and take the blinders off.

I am laughing so hard I can barely type.
Charles has obviously been reading this blog….. 😉
I must admit — that IS funny! 🙂
Glad you guys liked it. I am still laughing.
One has to admit this has been a very entertaining political race.
I have been reading another more serious article that is obviously by the Republican establishment. I do not think they realize just how revealing that article is. Can you say Gruber the voter?
http://thefederalist.com/2015/12/16/military-strategist-explains-why-donald-trump-leads-and-how-he-will-fail/
I do not know about you guys but I am not happy about the political parties running a psyops on me with the aim of getting elected and then reneging which is now SOP.
That is perhaps what I like most about Trump. He is not a ‘polished political product’ concealing who knows what behind a polished facade.
Remember a candidate knowing he is going to run can case votes in the Senate or House that are throwaway votes if he knows ahead of time the voting will go the way he wants. Cruz did this with TPA.

Gail and Latitude, you two are aware that this Charles Hurt guy defends Trump by favorably comparing him to Bill Clinton and Lyndon Johnson, right??
Wait, let me guess. You “didn’t notice that” when you read the link.
Or, will you instead argue with a straight face that those two Presidents were not Globalists?
Or, will you just dishonestly ignore my comment since it totally shreds your arguments in favor of Trump?
I was reading over at The Conservative Tree House and ran into some interesting info:
Fox News has a pole to see if people will watch the GOPe debate.
http://gretawire.foxnewsinsider.com/poll/yes-or-no/
There’s a good chance I’ll be watching my first GOP debate tonight.
It may help me narrow down my choices to “Trump and somebody else”.
At least it won’t be the Trump show tonight and the dwarves will have a chance to stand out.
I’m interested in seeing just why everyone in the political establishment seems to hate Cruz so much. I understand your aversion to him, but so many people in DC seem to hate him on a personal and not policy level. Which makes me tend to like him.
Bobby Jindal was my first choice but he’s long fallen to the wayside.
More dirt on the string pullers busy rigging the US Presidential election.
January 24, 2016 Is Fox News Preparing Proverbial “Kill Shot” Against Trump Campaign?
Isn’t it nice to know we don’t get to elect our own president? She has already been chosen.
REPORT: Fox News DID Attempt Trump Political “Kill Shot”
The AMBUSH:
• Google and Fox TV Invited Anti-Trump, Hitler-Citing, Muslim Advocate, Nabela Noor to Join Next GOP TV-Debate. Nabela Noor condemns the United States as a racist nation that suffers Islamophobia which is largely responsible for inciting terror attacks against it. She is also the one who describes Donald Trump as a bigot and who visually portrayed him as being in agreement with national socialist Adolf Hitler.

Rubio and Fox withheld their Father-Daughter connection to rig the Fox News Debate. Seems Fox Executive Bill Sammon (whose daughter is Rubio’s Campaign Press Secretary) presides over scripting the debate questions!
If the globalists hate and fear Trump this much it makes me want to vote for him all the more.
Exactly Gail….I’ve never paid so much attention to who doesn’t want me to vote for someone
I feel that this will probably be our last chance to elect anyone that even vaguely resembles a republican….
I know Hillary will not pull them in…she’s not a rock star and about as exciting as road kill
But there’s a huge machine behind her….
We need a rock star….
Latitude,
The venom aimed at Trump is what made me look at him in the first place. The more I see the more I like. Heck even his ex-wifes have nothing rotten to say about him. Given the full force of the MSM is against him it is truly amazing they haven’t dug anything much up.
Is he a bit if a cowboy? Yes but he can not be the Hitler that Richard T. Fowler says he is and still have the Unions willing to talk with him. I have no doubt he is a tough negotiator but they would respect him for that.
Perhaps the biggest check in the yes box for Trump is the reading I have just been doing at The Last Refuge. This last article has over 1,000 comments and these guys DIG so if you want the dirt they have got it. They remind me of us.
http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/01/27/donald-trumps-fox-debate-boycott-and-the-ridiculous-fox-news-response/comment-page-5/#comments
And at this point do we have any real choice? It is Trump vs a globalist puppet. We are very very lucky to have a choice this time round.
Were we separated at birth?…..if we were, you obviously got the smart gene
It is Trump vs a globalist puppet.
Gail, I don’t know what the problem is. I try to tell you Trump is a proven globalist puppet, and the worst of the bunch. I try to show you how by citing Trump’s own statements. You IGNORE my words. You don’t care in the slightest to ask me why I am saying that. Instead, you derail, raising a flurry of subjects. Then you come over here where I hadn’t been posting and talk about me, saying he couldn’t possibly be Hitler like I said because he has the unions talking to him. You didn’t say that in response to my comments. You said it over here instead.
The unions are Communist; Hitler is Communist. It is only LEFTISTS who believe that Hitler is far-right. We conservatives know that the exact opposite is true! But beyond that, those same Leftists are blind to how their OWN side is Hitleresque. Put those two facts together, and what do they say about YOU?
No wonder you don’t want to engage me in debate about this!
What you said about Trump and the unions is the EXACT OPPOSITE of reality! In fact, it is totally congruent for unions to support a Hitleresque candidate, SINCE THEY THEMSELVES ARE HITLERESQUE!
What does it say about you that you believe the opposite of that statement??
No wonder you’re supporting Trump, and no wonder you claim not to know what Trump has said (we couldn’t have that, it might destroy our a priori assumptions!) and no wonder you don’t trust anyone who’s not for Trump to tell you about Trump’s statements. (If such people were trustworthy, that might bring down the tower of lies Trump has constructed about himself, so they can’t possibly be allowed any credibility!)
How can you say you haven’t made up your mind and are investigating to the find the truth, and practically in the same moment say “And at this point do we have any real choice? It is Trump vs a globalist puppet. We are very very lucky to have a choice this time round.”
Those two statements are mutually exclusive! This is exactly the sort of thing Trump and Hitler are particularly known for! (With all due respect.)
I am hoping Trump will be the GOP nominee but I like Carson and Fiorina too.
While I live in Florida I would never vote for Jeb Bush or Rubio. They are owned by their donors. If any establishment candidate is nominated I will vote for Boris Johnson (Lord Mayor of London) for the fourth time in a row. He was born in New York.
If Cruz is the nominee I will vote for him while holding my nose…………sorry Boris!
So you would hand the country over to leftist lunatics rather than back a conservative who is not your favored pick?
God help us if your way of spiteful and self destructive thinking is widespread.
No matter which party gains ascendancy nothing changes. So which set of “Leftist Lunatics” are you talking about? I guess it escaped your notice that the GOP now controls Congress and the Senate yet the unsustainable spending continues.
I will cheerfully vote for a “Leftist Lunatic” if he promises to put control of K-12 education back in the local community where it belongs or promises to pay down the federal debt. In other words I will vote for Bernie Sanders or anyone else who convinces me that he/she is committed to sound policies.
Cruz has been at the forefront of trying to invoke the power of the purse, along with Mike Lee and a small band in the House. But somehow you managed not to mention his name in your previous two posts.
If you’re so concerned about the GOP not controlling spending, then why is Cruz, for you, “the candidate whose name shall not be mentioned?”
Did you support Reagan when he was in office? If so, how about when he was fighting literally the entire GOP establishment to get nominated, and getting kneecapped by Devil-may-care GOP thugs weekly?
Oh, and look at this. You say you hope Trump will be the GOP nominee, but what does Trump say about the power of the purse, which you claim to be your #1 concern?
He says that Cruz is “nasty” for trying to use it, and that Cruz’ trying to use it is emblematic of his ineffectiveness in Washington. In other words, Trump is saying that getting things done means taking the power of the purse off the table!
Now WHERE HAVE WE HEARD THAT BEFORE?
If you are honest (as I have believed you to be), and you see this comment, you will respond to it.
