Premature Ejaculation At NOAA

NOAA announced that 2012 was the hottest year ever, before 20% of their stations even reported December temperatures.

My guess is that they rushed to press before the cold blast comes to the Eastern US later in the week.

Those curious about possible future heat catastrophes might want to consult what happened in the US in October, or maybe Victoria, Australia, in February. They won’t however. America’s worst fire happened in October – but it was October of 1871. Australia’s worst may well have been the world’s worst known inferno. But it happened in February of 1851. Mentioning Black Tuesday is the quickest way to get an Australian climate huckster to change the subject. The New Man at Year Zero does not delve into mouldy old history! When he uses that word “unprecedented” it has a ritual significance only – though a very deep one, of course.

It was Black Thursday, of course, not Tuesday. Even I’m forgetting. 1851: Thursday, 6 February.

One shouldn’t forget: Five million hectares and one million sheep. Gaia’s a nasty hag.

Just as well there was no CAGW back then.
