What’s happening to our climate? Was the heat wave and drought in the Eastern United States in 1999 a sign of global warming?
Empirical evidence does not lend much support to the notion that climate is headed precipitately toward more extreme heat and drought. The drought of 1999 covered a smaller area than the 1988 drought, when the Mississippi almost dried up. And 1988 was a temporary inconvenience as compared with repeated droughts during the 1930s “Dust Bowl” that caused an exodus from the prairies, as chronicled in Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath.

I’ve been trying GISS all day as well! Thought it was me.
I’ve updated the October exercise, which shows that UAH confirms 2012 is NOT the hottest year.

I had similar problems in March but they went away without explanation.
I was trying to access station info over the weekend and could not even connect to the site, now I get this…

Once they started “adjusting” temperatures and blaming periodic weather events on warming, their credibility was completely gone. I don’t believe a word they say.
