Mark Serreze calls me “breathtakingly ignorant.”

  1. Chuck L says:

Mark Serreze is a brilliant scientist, just look at the amazing prediction he made about Arctic sea ice. Surely we are, indeed, “breathtakingly ignorant” to doubt his Arctic Omniscience

Self-admiration is a common pitfall among “brilliant scientists.”

Basic requirements for real science are humility, honesty and open- mindedness.

  2. philjourdan says:

Their response: There were no Satellites before then (they are correct for the 40s). But they still suffer from lack of data.

  3. Ernest Bush says:

Such a breathtakingly bad use of intellect on his part. It needs to be taken away and given to somebody who will use it more wisely. Then he can be allowed to sit and drool on himself in peace.

  4. catweazle666 says:

    Ah, climate McScience!

Cherry pick a section of a clearly periodic function, extrapolate a linear regression to Armageddon, and run round like headless chickens frothing and gibbering about how we can olly be saved if we give them all our money!

  5. Cheshirered says:

I dare say Mr Serreze is welcome to stroll over here and defend his predictions should he choose…

  6. Pete Fox says:

Steve, you really are one heck of a great guy! Love your work, keep pickin’ ’em apart.

  7. R Shearer says:

It’s the Arctic where we ought to see the first signs of global cooling.

  8. SMS says:

Mark knows what he’s doing; and it is criminal. He is normalizing the data to get the answer he wants and to support the story he wants to tell.

    • _Jim says:

Myopic science; practicing ‘science’ for short term, for political goals … Mark has neither the scientific length nor breadth and certainly not the ‘freedom’ (verily, he is now trapped in a system, a culture, of his and his compatriots own making) to seek the ‘trvth’.

Revealing any kind of ‘Trvth’ in his case would mean political suicide and professional death; can’t have that, daddy likes wearing his pony tail on campus …

  9. Billy Liar says:

Where does NSIDC’s Greenland melt data pre-1990 come from? I suggest that DMI uses 1990-2011 for their mean because that’s all the data they’ve got. Has NSIDC made up some ‘data’ for the 80’s?

  10. TRE says:

Steve, a “clueless, socialist, trough feeding, academic buffoon” is calling YOU names? How “breathtakingly ignorant”……

  11. tom0mason says:

As Homer would say when cherry-picking the juicy ones –
    “Ummm, cherries..”
Or as Mark Serreze says “Ummm, low temperatures..”
