“an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary”

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

H. L. Mencken

The goal of the Obama administration is make the public hysterical about things like guns and climate, so that they will welcome White House tyranny. Here is a an excellent article written by a climate alarmist.

Subpoenaed Into Silence on Global Warming – Bloomberg View

The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out… without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable.

Endlessly inserting yourself and your own bizarre ideas into a rather serious issue. You demean and defame the good work that Steven Goddard does by association. I really wish you would go away, or at a minimum, comment on the topic at hand.

If any of this global warming was true….the first place you would see cut backs would be with the government…

Government is not cutting back…this is all designed for the population to cut back

    • Error. The government is responding to climate change. We see this mainly in our military. The Navy is already starting efforts to shore up our navy ports in anticipation of higher sea levels. The Army is doing similar plans for inland bases with respect to floods, drought, heat waves and other extremes of climate change. If the military is doing this, then climate change is being treated as reality by some very important segments of our government. The GOP have been in a panic since Obama’s election in 2008 and will use anything to discredit him. Even denying reality. They need to find something to attack him with. They present climate change to their less than well educated and intelligent crowd in deceptive ways, and they respond on cue with laughter and derision. But notice: the young accept climate change and are making efforts to do something about it along with a lot of other people and world governments. This always amazes me that the GOP constantly blows their clarion calls of God, guns, anti-science and fear of demographics and the left. But who are they preaching to? The young are the future leaders of America. They are very intelligent, materialistic, secular, pro-science, and yes, very much believe in climate change. What to do? Let the GOP submit their doubts on climate change, like everything else, to the free market place of ideas and see what happens. This isn’t a right or left thing. It’s science. It’s true.

      [SG: Utter psycho-babble BS]

      • J_A_SS says:

The Military does what it is ordered to do, our fearless leader told them to prepare, so they are. What a waste of time, effort and taxpayer money.

        • Better check that conference the Joint Chiefs had with Congress last fall. General Dempsey made it clear what they are doing and why. But when it comes to good science supported by 90% of the world’s climate scientists plus the response of other countries [Japan is a good example]. Even big corporations are responding. The educated and intelligent know this is real. But what I want to know is: What are the Republicans so afraid of? The GOP is ruled by fear at all levels: climate change, demographics, immigration, new sexual/moral changes, fear of secularism etc. etc. I understand their fear over whites becoming a minority by 2040, but I don’t understand their fears over climate change. I mean are they sticking with climate change denial to save face? Or are they really unaware?

[SG: Only a complete moron would believe this climate change BS]

        • AndyG55 says:

“whites becoming a minority by 2040,”

Then the USA will become a third world country, just like every other country that once had white rule and lost it.

        • AndyG55 says:

We’ve already seen the devastation one semi-black president can manage in a short 8 years.

      • gator69 says:

        the young accept climate change

Ah yes, I remember being young, ignorant, and gullible. Then I grew up and thought for myself.

As a climatology student, in between the global cooling scare and the great global warming swindle, I wrote a paper on Desertification. It was all the rage, in climatology circles. Of course back then, in order to do research one had to go to this thing called a “library” and check out “books”, as Al Gore had not yet invented the internet.

Every source I could find, almost exclusively university and government research, said that the deserts would continue expanding at an ever faster rate, and that if we did not spend the world’s treasure on mitigation immediately, we would all die in a sea of sand. So that was basically the conclusion of my paper, and boy did I learn a lesson. I should have known better because I had already spent over 5 years as a geology student by then.

      • Bob Greene says:

As J A SS, says, the military follow the orders of the commander-in-chief. So, if the tune is “climate change” they will dance to that tune even if the expenditures harm readiness. The Army is and has been an all weather, all terrain force. The Air Force has some weather limitations. The Navy can operate at sea level, above sea level and below sea level. The terrible effects of climate change are slow enough that all three forces can adapt. Why assume they can’t?

Opposition to global warming hysteria has been based on questioning the science, so the obvious response is to call it anti-science, not refute the opposed views.

        • Our military is a lot smarter than you think.

[All those WMD’s in Iraq that were an existential threat to the US]

        • gator69 says:

Our military is a lot smarter than you think.

Yes they are, and the rank and file don’t buy the CAGW BS. Just like the rank and file scientists do not, yet their “leadership” does. But you are not curious enough to understand why. You are the opposite of a skeptic, you are gullible.

        • The rank and file don’t make decisions. Anyway don’t you see the way things are going? Big business and the military are not climate deniers. Other countries are not deniers. I know how this is going to turn out. The Repubs are going to have to eat this one. But I still want to know: What is the far right so afraid of??

        • gator69 says:

What is a climate denier? Nobody here denies that climates change, as they always have.

And yes, the German citizens did not request ovens for humans, only the smart leadership of the Nazis did that.

        • Poor analogy. Also rather tacky.

        • gator69 says:

Actually it is quite appropriate. Truth hurts.

Imagine if we put all the resources wasted on the Climate Change Industry into curing diseases and feeding people who struggle to survive day to day right now.

About 21,000 people die every day of hunger or hunger-related causes, according to the United Nations. This is one person every four seconds, as you can see on this display. Sadly, it is children who die most often.

Yet there is plenty of food in the world for everyone. The problem is that hungry people are trapped in severe poverty. They lack the money to buy enough food to nourish themselves. Being constantly malnourished, they become weaker and often sick. This makes them increasingly less able to work, which then makes them even poorer and hungrier. This downward spiral often continues until death for them and their families.

          http://www.poverty.com/

That works out to 7,665,000 every year.

The Nazis did not even come close.

        • AndyG55 says:

“Our military is a lot smarter than you think.”

Yes, in the case of “climate change” they will pay only lip-service to Obama.

        • Marsh says:

Robespierre0753 : “”What are you guys so afraid of? I need to know.”” The first of your mistaken assumptions is to “think” that deniers here (your term) are far Right or from the United States (in second instance). Others have explained the obvious CAGW BS. If you openly researched the CO2 hypothesis; you too would come to that conclusion.
          ………………………..
On the issue of other Countries are “not deniers” you’re totally wrong. If it were not for Obama propping up the GW mantra & supporting the UN – IPCC fraud, the nonsense of man made Climate Change would be a non event in the World today, (a truism in every sense).

      • This clown can’t debate the science, or justify the unconstitutional behavior, so he tosses out a bunch of psycho-babble.

        • The science has already been debated. The military and corporations, government and the intelligencia are all in board. But the point is: What are you guys so afraid of? I need to know.

[Historically, the claim of consensus has been the first refuge of scoundrels; it is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already settled.

The military and corporations, government and the intelligencia are all in board.

On board what? The gravy train?

        • It’s just a simple question: What are you guys so afraid of??

[Whenever you hear the consensus of scientists agrees on something or other, reach for your wallet, because you’re being had.

I’m not afraid of debating the science. How about you?

        • AndyG55 says:

“The military and corporations, government and the intelligencia are all in board.”

Only those with a direct tap into the climate trough and those directly linked to propaganda and the politics are on board…. eg science boards, that dare not actually ask their members to verify their politically based statements.

        • AndyG55 says:

“The science has already been debated”

Yes and the CAGW farce fully exposed.

Thing is, its not about science or so-called “climate change™” would have been assigned to the garbage bin ages ago.

It is now a political agenda, and a religion, neither of which can be battled with knowledge or common sense.

We note that you have not one skerrick of real science to back up any of your child-minded rantings, just calls to propaganda authority.

        • AndyG55 says:

“What are you guys so afraid of??”

certainly nothing that you can argue about.

You seem to be very empty, brain-washed non-entity, with very little understanding about any of the science behind anything

A worthless gasbag, trying to make himself feel good about his failed life.

As I said……. psychotic babble, from an empty, mindless soul.

Nothing related to science… ever, from Robes, just a selfie-indulgent wank.

      • Andy DC says:

        Robespierre,

Your brainwashed mind is obviously too set in stone to follow this blog and other great skeptical blogs that daily provide excellent evidence, namely that raw temperature data sets show far less warming than the knowingly altered data sets concocted by alarmists.

I would strongly suggest that you follow skeptic sites (like this one) to get a balanced perspective on the subject. You and the young people you are referring to are only paying attention to propagandists that have a huge interest (billions of dollars from Government grants) in promoting and maintaining a huge scare about catastrophic warming, warming that simply is not taking place.

Lots of people want the wool pulled over their eyes, on this and many issues. Real science seeks to disprove a theory, it’s called the scientific method. I think the AGW crowd doesn’t know science at all but they sure like to throw stones around their glass houses.

    • Barbara says:

Touché. To paraphrase my favorite physicist, Richard Feynman, ” If you thought the science was certain, you’re just wrong.”

      • Barbara says:

O.F., I was referring to your first post about “real science”.

      • OrganicFool says:

        Yes!

There isn’t one area of science that is settled. Even tobacco has known therapeutic effects, and gravity is still quite a mystery, though these are often the poster children of their argument. What’s settled is their power grab and they are openly telegraphing their goals, which is to destroy capitalism and replace it with some kind of communist/socialist paradigm where “everyone will be equal” and of course by reducing the population of the planet by billions.

It’s like a plot from a James Bond or at least Austin Powers or even the Biblical Anti-Christ with global domination and a one-world religion. It’s called Agenda 2030 (upgrade from Agenda 21).

BTW, not sure if anyone noticed, but the modern Father of Global Warming, Maurice Strong, died back in November 2015. He once allegedly said, “Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about?”

It’s interesting that Strong was a billionaire and minerals businessman and same person that attempted to get Colorado to pump water from one of the largest aquifers in the United States, in the San Luis Valley, and sell it to the Front Range (Denver) area. He and his wife founded several spiritual centers in Crestone, CO but even the people there were wise enough to see through the duplicity. One of my friends that lives in Crestone helped fight against this and they won. Bye bye Maurice.

Water rights in Colorado is a big issue and they move water around as necessary, but why this Canadian thought he should come in and save the day is anyone’s guess. The “globalists” are always at it in the guise of saving the planet. They are monopolists, which to me is really what communism is about. I guess there is such a thing as a benevolent dictator, but they have not convinced me of their benevolence.

Hilarious that Fidel Castro totally dissed Obama and said his speech was syrupy. Obama isn’t Leftist enough?

I was attempting to understand the logic of Robespierre0753 in the above dialogue, so I goggled his call sign: Robespierre0753. First reference I saw was to a post at a site called Predictit. There under an article: “Will Hillary Clinton win the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election”, I discovered the following post:

    Robespierre0753 > Dar Dedar • 4 days ago
I love Hillary. I love Bernie too and am a democratic socialist myself. But Hillary has the experience, the backing and history is on her side. She’s much more electable than Bernie. She also knows how to cut cards with the devil, a necessary trait for political success. Let’s hope Trump is the candidate. Then Hillary not only wins but we will achieve what we’ve all been waiting for: The final solution to the Republican problem!

  9. Finally, a looter admitting that fellow looters must be extirpated. The bloodiest wars are fought between people who believe almost exactly the same thing…
