Whenever you hear the consensus of scientists agrees on something or other, reach for your wallet, because you’re being had.
- Michael Crichton
Science is the belief in the ignorance of the experts
- Richard Feynman
Historically, the claim of consensus has been the first refuge of scoundrels; it is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already settled.
- Michael Crichton
“If you thought that science was certain – well, that is just an error on your part
- Richard Feynman

How to get a consensus:
1. Find out who agrees with you
2. Allow them to vote
3. Don’t allow anybody else to vote
Promise them that everyone else will send them money if they vote yes……IPCC
The IPCC took its cue from (one of) the immortal words of the late great Hizzoner Mayor Richard J. Daley, when confronted with a dissenter in his delegation to the 1976 presidential convention:
“We’ll make it unanimous without you”
https://newrepublic.com/article/91197/carter-convention-1976
Daley also liked consensus.

Socialism is, by its very definition, GROUP THINK.
That is why socialists, and other related misfits, “believe” in climate change, …
and conservatives, who can generally think for themselves.. don’t.
Edward Teller tried to dispel the notion that scientists were “different,” when he remarked that “Scientists are exactly like other people, except in their narrow field of specialization…” (or words to that effect, to the extent that memory serves)
Reblogged this on Climate Collections.
The phrase “scientific consensus” seems to have been bandied about even more recently. The irony is that it’s an oxymoron, and the double irony is that anyone who attempts to use the phrase isn’t being scientific. Triple irony: some organisations that claim to be science organisations use it; or at least something like it.
Consensus is a reflection of desire, and consequently purely subjective; there’s no such thing in true science.
Those who know that the consensus of many centuries has sanctioned the conception that the earth remains at rest in the middle of the heavens as its center, would, I reflected, regard it as an insane pronouncement if I made the opposite assertion that the earth moves.
-Nicolaus Copernicus
“The seeker after the truth is not one who studies the writings of the ancients and, following his natural disposition, puts his trust in them, but rather the one who suspects his faith in them and questions what he gathers from them, the one who submits to argument and demonstration, and not to the sayings of a human being whose nature is fraught with all kinds of imperfection and deficiency. Thus the duty of the man who investigates the writings of scientists, if learning the truth is his goal, is to make himself an enemy of all that he reads, and, applying his mind to the core and margins of its content, attack it from every side. He should also suspect himself as he performs his critical examination of it, so that he may avoid falling into either prejudice or leniency.”
Alhazen (Ibn al-Haytham)
One of the first theoretical physicists who introduced the experimental method and thus one of the founders of the scientific method.
Before we come to class and Range the Sciences, ’tis proper we should sift the merits of Knowledge, or clear it of the Disgrace brought upon it by Ignorance, wether disguised as (1.) the Zeal of the Divines, (2.) the Arrogance of Politicians, or (3.) the Errors of Men of Letters.
-Sir Francis Bacon, “Advancement of Learning”, 1605 (Father of the Scientific Method)
What was the name of that island nation, in Michael Crichton’s “State of Fear”, that was almost entirely barely above sea level?
Florida.
Vanutu, if I am remembering correctly.
The theories of Einstein and Newton were viewed with skepticism and have been subjected to intense scrutiny by scientists over the years. If those intellectual giants were subjected to skepticism and scrutiny, then certainly the crackpot theories of mental midgets like Mann and Hansen should have to undergo the same. They should not be allowed to hide under their delusional, self serving notions of consensus and settled science.
Even the best are not infallible. Einstein doubted the existence of black holes and gravitational waves even though his theory of General Relativity first revealed their potential to exist. He was wrong on both counts.
So what came first, the Black hole or The Milky Way ?
“Consensus science” was used to hide the source of energy in atomic bombs from the public in 1945, enslaving humanity for seventy years (1946-2016), preventing knowledge of the source of energy that sustains every atom, life and planet in the solar system.

Counterclockwise around the South Pole winds hit the Andes and drop moisture into the Pantanal, Brazil’s answer to the Everglades, set “to evaporate in 2100” shrieks the headline out of “report suggests,” “indicates,” and such slime. A typical creek I ford varies from 3″ to about 20-feet of raging torrent every year.
How to interpret ‘scientific’ articles; count the “mights’, “coulds’, ‘some scientists believes’, “may bes’, etc. The count is usually overwhelming making the article trash can liner material.
