“We’re going to get to that meter whether it’s on a straight line into the future or in that dramatic uptick that the vast majority of scientists believe is happening.”
North Carolina’s coast is ‘hot spot’ for rising sea levels | CharlotteObserver.com
There is no dramatic uptick in North Carolina or anywhere else.
Data and Station Information for WILMINGTON
Both North Carolina and global show 2 mm/year. Why do many climate scientists believe that it is OK to lie? There is not one shred of evidence supporting the idea of a dramatic uptick.
up·tick: Noun:
A small increase.
How is this “dramatic”? Morons.
“Giant midgets!”
Outside of tidal influences and atmospheric pressure I would suggest that the water level in Wilmington is the same as Sydney and Cape Town and Rio and Vladivostok and pretty much anywhere else, but what do I know?
The one called “physicist”, if he is in fact a scientist most definitely is an Idiot.
Over here the moron calls (R) the party of the confederate president. If anyone spots “physicist”, please send the moron back to that thread to correct himself.
I doubt it. More likely he flunked his sociology class because he found putting together a coherent sentence too challenging.
I wonder why the folks here who actually are (R) members aren’t jumping down his throat.
By associating the (R) party with the (D) confederate president and with the (D) terrorist group ( the KKK ) he is turning facts and history upside down. If I was a (R) I would be even more pissed off than I already am.
To me personally, it is the same as saying the Allies were killing Jews in concentration camps instead of liberating them.
He doesn’t know science, he doesn’t know history.
Are The Vast Majority Of Scientists Idiots?
Hmmmmmmmmm…..Huh?
Ask any outside their fields of study and that is the answer you get.
I think ‘vast majority of scientists believe’ is a code phrase for ‘me and my coauthor and 98 of the media’.
Here’s even more bad news for them maroons, who believe in sea level rise. Their religion is falling apart, and there is nothing they can do to combat it.
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/11/05/new-paper-in-grl-shows-that-a-60-year-oscillation-in-global-mean-sea-level-has-been-discovered/
Consistent with other papers on the topic, but of no media interest.
No, I don’t think they are idiots, certainly not all. I am one and there are many very good scientists that visit these blogs. In my experience, there are a lot of scientists who totally lack any common sense.
Yes scientists seem to be daft. They believe that you can heat a gas in the atmosphere and that heat can be transferred into the ocean (see under Trenberth). This world does not work that way, you can radiate the ocean but physical heat cannot pass the surface tension. Try getting heat into water with a heat gun and good luck. Only the rays of the sun enter the ocean which means AGW cannot exist and never has existed. Pass the word.
Just wrong.
And yet the same politicos in Wilmington that are championing this taxpayer funded supposed drastic rise in sea level study, now are asking taxpayers to additionally fund a new minor-league baseball stadium right next to…..The Cape Fear River. Obladi, oblada.
Oh, and for any lurking alarmists with skin in this particular game; just because I was born in Wilmington, lived most of my 60+ years at Wrightsville Beach observing sea levels, have a degree in marine technology and have a boat docked in downtown Wilmington, don’t take my word for it…..just do a simple web search.
They can’t be that stupid; they know how to get grants.
And pigs can find truffles…
Seems I hear a lot of complaining about scientists that is really aimed at what politicians do with science. Can anybody who is denigrating scientists here give a definition of science?
Science is many things to many people, but it is not fraud. The ‘scientists’ complained about on this website are generally frauds. They can mainly be classified as ‘grantologists’, or attention whores.
“We need to get some broad based support,
to capture the public’s imagination…
So we have to offer up scary scenarios,
make simplified, dramatic statements
and make little mention of any doubts…
Each of us has to decide what the right balance
is between being effective and being honest.”

Stanford Professor of Climatology,
lead author of many IPCC reports
