Another Early Ski Season In Colorado

Crack experts from the University of Colorado say that skiing is doomed.

DENVER — A study of two Rocky Mountain ski resorts says climate change will mean shorter seasons and less snow on lower slopes.

The study by two Colorado researchers says Aspen Mountain in Colorado and Park City in Utah will see dramatic changes even with a reduction in carbon emissions, which fuel climate change.

The Park City and Aspen ski resorts have taken several steps to cut their emissions by switching to solar and wind power, increasing energy efficiency and using cleaner-burning snow machines.

STEAMBOAT CRUSHES SNOW RECORD: 34 INCHES OF CHAMPAGNE POWDER!
Posted By: Kristin Park on February 20, 2012 4:04 pm

Today marks a new record for Steamboat, Colorado with the most snow of any resort in Colorado in a 24-hour period with a monstrous 27 inches at mid-mountain and the summit.  Since the 5 a.m. report, another seven inches have floated down bringing the total to a whopping 34 inches!

The snow started dumping yesterday afternoon at around 1 p.m. when a storm rolled in, and picked up speed throughout the rest of the day and last night.  It added significantly to the 75-inch base at mid-mountain and 82-inch bask at the summit.  There doesn’t seem to be any signs of stopping, and that doesn’t concern any of the mountain enthusiasts in the area.  Another storm is expected on Tuesday, and skiers and snowboarders are welcoming it with open arms.  Still others are predicted for the throughout the rest of the week as well.

There seems to be a lot of crack experts these days . Or is that experts on crack ? I don’t know maybe crack would help them lose their delusions , or not . 🙂

    • johnmcguire says:

Hey , I should do a study of experts on crack . With a big enough grant , say five million , I could do a five year study and see if they still produce the same mindless babble year to year while injesting ever increasing doses . I think some of them would probably become more lucid as the study progressed . See , I am capable of doing post normal science . Somebody line me up with a grant . In fact my goal is a lot of Grants .

…..in other news, scientists actually meant to say that GW will cause ski seasons to become extended due to more moisture in the air…../sarc…

I live at 6600′ on the western slope, and just received a foot of fresh powder. X-country skiing out my door.

  4. Andy DC says:

90% of Russia is already snowcovered along with large portions of China and Mongolia. Canada is almost totally snowcovered west of the Great Lakes. Much of the west central US is anomolously snowcovered. It isn’t even yet the middle of November.

How can 90 % compare with 97 % of climate scientists – they win because their percentages are bigger – just like their egos – Nah nah na nah nah.
