The last four days in December 2012 were essential to determine if 2012 was warmer or cooler than 1934. Temperatures were very cold across the US, and the gap between the two years was very small.
It appears that NOAA is not going to update temperatures for those days, as we are half way through January. I wonder what that is all about?
They are trying to figure out how to hide the decline in temps.
It’s probably a knotty problem — they may have to terminate all the research associates involved (say, all of those working at the east end of the building), so they can blame it on them, and then rehire them under another section of their grant contract. They don’t want anyone to be hurt (as long as it’s no skin off their own noses).
They ran out of adjustments?
Just like they erased 4 yrs off most the worlds city temperature graphs when the declines could not be adjusted away. The graphs remain shut down since I pointed it out to a top scientist at NASA GISS. He says he was unaware of the problem. He did ask when it happened and I was not sure but all data is now rolled back to Oct 2012 so maybe it was in Nov. Hopefully he is one of the honest guys and will investigate further. A lot of reputations are on the line now depending on which side they choose! Hopefully their will be defections from the warming side since the British Met office caved.

Same thing happened when SL rise stopped and even showed a decline. Complet cessation of updates, and then new graphs and new methods. “Better methods” Keep the ends of both words in quotes and you have it correct.

That is what it said to me when I tried to go there.

I hope someone copied the old data.
Very strange. Usually NOAA simply says it’s the hottest year ever regardless of what the data shows.
All the data coming from NOAA may be suspect and cannot be used since they gave up adjusting and started erasing years of data from the city graphs that were showing rapid cooling. That is the technical problem I believe. I was told by the senior scientist that he had not noticed the missing data and that they download it from NOAA/ NCDC. There may be conflicts going on internally between those with a warming agenda and those who actually believe in science. The site shut down the same day they were notified of the problem. I am hoping it is because an honest scientist refuses to publish false data.
The world temp anomaly graph has been updated to include Dec which plunged. Most of the site remains shut down. It still says that there has been rapid warming in the last decade on their main page which I do not understand when the British Met says no warming in 15 yrs. If you repeat a lie often enough?
