Hinckley Fire – Minnesota
160,000 acres burned, destroys the town of Hinkley, Minnesota, and killed 418 persons.

A Series Of Wildfires – South Carolina
up to 3,000,000 acres of forest land were charred.
AUGUST 20 – 21, 1910
The Big Blowup – Idaho and Montana
Over 3 million acres burned

    1.2 million acres and perhaps as many as 2,500 killed.

    Extra cigarette taxes might prevent a few fires, for smokers in forests anyway.
