The hockey team has shot themselves in the foot again. The new claim is that missing sea ice brings lots of snow and cold to low latitudes.
Ignoring for a minute that they said the exact opposite last winter, they are wrecking their own theory religion with this claim. Let’s put on our dunce caps and accept their new theory.
If missing Arctic ice actually caused cold, that would make it a powerful negative feedback – thereby destroying the basis of their belief system. In other words, they just drank their own Kool-Aid and committed suicide.
Sorry OT, but, if banning guns is supposed to help keep guns out of criminals hands it ain’t gonna work.
St. Pete detective’s car stolen, found in lake
A St. Petersburg detective’s unmarked police car was stolen and later found abandoned in Lake Maggiore.
Whoever took detective Matthew Furse’s police car also broke into his personal vehicle at his home. The unmarked car was found halfway submerged in Lake Maggiore, and all of his weapons inside were gone, too.
Furse said he had a Glock .45 caliber handgun, a Colt AR 15 rifle, a portable radio device and ammunition – all which were taken from the trunk.
A passerby in the area notified police around 7:30 a.m.
Police believe whoever did this broke into the vehicle, drove it to a nearby location, removed the guns and ammunition from the car and then drove it into the lake.

They’re in a huddle because the icy winds of change are blowing:

“Ignoring for a minute that they said the exact opposite last winter”
I can’t ignore it.
They said they had a theory and that “X” would happen.
“X” did not happen and instead we are faced with “Y”.
Now they claim that “Y” is consistent with the original theory that specifically said “X” and NOT “Y”, but have failed to modify the theory to prove that “Y” fits.
They just say so and we supposed to auto-magically agree.
A through Z all match their “Theory”! It is a Magical Theory that explains every possible type of weather event! Mild is extreme and extreme is mild! See how simple that is! 😉
PFM! Pure F’n Magic!
This is a generalisation. They would argue that their effects are ‘local’ to particular regions of the planet only.
It’s now an oscillating feedback. VERY complicated, much more so than we thought, but just what we predicted.
Funny how there’s a supposed lack of ice in the Arctic but down south in the UK & Europe there’s snow and ice as far as the eye can see. And the UK headline today is Cold weather could stay until late April, say forecasters: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/mar/25/cold-weather-stay-april-forecasters
You should know that their theory is a sort of… cold displacement.
Warm air shoved the cold arctic air south due to disruptions in the jet stream or some such. You’d probably retort with the cold arctic in Feb. They’d say a temporary negative doesn’t make up for years of positives… etc. Could be a nice back and forth to be found, if they ever bothered to debate people.
“If missing Arctic ice actually caused cold”
Ah yes, but it causes warmth, too, you see. There’s nothing Global Warming (TM) can’t do!
I wouldn’t call what they do a “huddle”, it is “handled” in a circle, but their is no “J” in team. 😉
I remember that electric kool aid – it resulted in complete hallucination as well.
Which cuckoo’s nest was Ken Keysey prophesying anyway ?
