  1. Dave N says:

Looks like someone from the Greenland Open looking for their golf ball.

  2. Ivan says:

We’re all a little confused here.
The headline says: “Extreme Winter Weather Hits Europe”.
It was only a couple of months ago that the geniuses were telling us:
More Extreme Weather Events Forecast – 01.16.13
Get ready for more extreme weather and increasingly serious impacts on health, the economy and the environment, courtesy global climate change.
Temperatures, rainfall, droughts, high-intensity hurricanes and severe flooding events all are increasing and projected to continue as the world’s climate warms, according to the National Climate Assessment.”

I’m wondering how all this fits together.

“Temperatures, rainfall, droughts, high-intensity hurricanes and severe flooding events all are increasing and projected to continue as the world’s climate”

No they are not. Hurricanes, tornados droughts, severe storms and floooding, none of that is increasing, and there are many peer reviewed papers to demonstrate that fact.

“Counting only category F4 and F5 events, which are relatively consistently detectable and recorded, there is no trend over the past 100 years (Balling and Cerveny 2003).

Bouziotas et al. presented a paper at the EGU a few weeks ago (PDF) and concluded:
Analysis of trends and of aggregated time series on climatic (30-year) scale does not indicate consistent trends worldwide. Despite common perception, in general, the detected trends are more negative (less intense floods in most recent years) than positive. Similarly, Svensson et al. (2005) and Di Baldassarre et al. (2010) did not find systematical change neither in flood increasing or decreasing numbers nor change in flood magnitudes in their analysis.

      2. Global tropical cyclone activity, as measured by frequency and ACE is at the lowest in 30 years,

      Here’s another germane article:
Another blow to warmist hysteria over weather is not climate unless we say it is: “2011 damage is qualitatively indistinguishable from 1974?
Simmons, K., D. Sutter, R.A. Pielke, Jr. (2012), Blown away: monetary and human impacts of the 2011 U.S. tornadoes. Extreme events and insurance: 2011 annus horribilis (Edited by C. Courbage and W.R. Stahel) The Geneva Reports: Risk and Insurance Research , Published March 2012.

I can go on and on. The claim of more extreme is bullshit from greentards.
