  1. Gamecock says:

You are stretching reality, Steve. One can’t “buy Obamacare.” One could buy private insurance through the Obamacare created “exchanges,” if the damn thing worked. There is nothing stopping the insurance buyer from picking up the phone and calling insurance companies or agents directly, bypassing exchanges. Purchases through exchanges, which are surely exaggerated, do not include purchases independent of the exchanges. They could number millions; it’s not being reported.

Rand Paul said there is only one insurance company left in Kentucky that will insure him.

“In researching the Obamacare exchanges in Kentucky, I learned that I now had a choice between just two insurance companies (previously I had over 30 choices). One of those companies would not insure me out-of-state. Considering how often I’m in Washington, D.C., this posed as problematic.”

You hardly need an exchange if there are only one or two companies you can deal with, anyway.

    • Mike D says:

Not exactly true. If all the website were doing is connecting people with the insurance company, it’d be working fine. But what it is doing is trying to figure out how much taxpayer money it can throw at someone, if any. That’s not just private insurance, but private insurance partially or fully paid for by the taxpayer.

But I can see them counting as any new purchase as an Obamacare win regardless of where it originates. Every renewal will soon become a new Obamacare policy as well.

      • Gamecock says:

“Every renewal will soon become a new Obamacare policy as well.”

        No.

      • Gamecock says:

You are right about the subsidy, but that won’t make it a government/Obamacare policy. It will still be with a private insurer.

        • Mike D says:

Very twisted logic there. The policies must have specific features because of this law or they can not be sold at all, but because they are from a private insurer, you’re saying they’re not Obamacare policies.

        • Gamecock says:

Nothing twisted about it. The government is not in the insurance business. The fascists have declared that private company policies must contain certain things, but that doesn’t make them government policies. Not any more than the fascist requirement that Shell put 10% ethanol in their gasoline would make it government gas.

Insurance companies, having received the government mandates, have raised their prices to cover the new requirements. Outlandish requirements like pre-existing conditions. The Dems assured them they’d be fine, as millions of young, healthy people would be signing up, and their low loss rate would cover the cost of all the new crap. Insurance companies may have even liked Obamacare, as they expected many new customers.

Millions of young, healthy people are not signing up. Guess what . . . premiums will not just double . . . they will quadruple within two years. The Obamacare scheme is not going to work . . . or . . . Obama will say, “We let the capitalists try to run health care, but they failed. It’s time for the government to take over and fix this.” This is what he has wanted from the git go. People losing their policies . . . prices going up . . . it’s working just like he wanted it to.

        • Mike D says:

What’s medicaid then? Which I had forgotten earlier. Obamcare made that easier to qualify for as well.

        • Gamecock says:

Okay, fine, Mike. Yes, one could sign up for Medicaid, a government policy, on the exchange. Indeed, some reports claim Medicaid signup is 10X private insurance signup.

Still, signing up for Medicaid is not “buying Obamacare.”

        • Ben says:

RE: Gamecock – “Not any more than the fascist requirement that Shell put 10% ethanol in their gasoline would make it government gas.”

If I am also required to purchase ethanol-ed Shell gas, even if I don’t own a car, and don’t want to buy the gas, don’t need the gas, then yes, it is government gas.

        • Ben says:

          Add to that list
…and if there is an IRS penalty for not buying gas…

        • Gamecock says:

More fun facts: it really isn’t a subsidy. One can qualify for tax credits, to be received when you file your taxes the next year. So that $400 a month extra will come out of your pocket, and your pocket alone, for a year before you get your credit.

So poor you never filed taxes before? Well, you better learn how.

  3. A Conscious Citizen says:

Another example of the further militarization of this nation’s proto-fascistic far-right. Why abide by democratically (sorta, not that this oligarchical representative system at all resembles a truly democratic government) passed legislation when you can stockpile dozens of military-spec weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition? If the will of the state (and the people.. again, sorta) is not aligned with your own, and an actor form the state attempts to change that, you could just murder them! In fact, you can just shoot all the ‘obama loving faggots’ and problem solved, right? It’s no secret why the far-right is becoming a para-military force. Paranoia and hatred are rampant among the groups inhabitants and before long this nation will know a thousand ‘liberty loving patriots’ like Timothy McVeigh. I just pray to god I’m out of here when all you fucking lunatics start shooting. On the bright side, the majority of you are rotting away in old age (and are accordingly delusional) so I doubt your eyesight is up to the task of actually hitting any liberal communist whining punks. The best part about this graph is it actually represents the percentage of the population who is actively buying weapons (where you put “Obamacare”) as compared to the portion of the gun market they control. You are in the minority, and the majority of this nations people seek peace, not further violence.

    • Citizens owning guns is the deterrent to militarization.

The vast majority of gun violence in this country is done by Democrats, mainly with illegal weapons.

      • A Conscious Citizen says:

You mean the weapons they buy in the states with the fewest restrictions on gun sales, and then return to their urban homes? The reason guns are so accessible where restrictions are in place is because one need only step across a city or state line to find easy access to killing machines in all the red states! Further, to add a partisan connotation to the perpetration of this violence is absolute bullshit. I’d venture to say a very, very small minority of those who commit gun crimes have ever been involved in electoral politics. They are more concerned with selling the drugs that are oh-so-profitable because you decided to prohibit all legal ways of obtaining them, than they are with the Democrats or Republicans. However, as we know, Jesus hates marijuana so it will always be criminalized, keeping in place the current system which provides extreme profit to those who sell the drugs on the black market, instigating massive gang violence.

        • No, I mean that many Democrats are psychotic.

        • Justa Joe says:

“…partisan connotation to the perpetration of this violence is absolute bullshit.’

convenient for you but DEAD wrong

In Chicago successful street gang members often graduate to be local alderman or at least very influential parts of the Democrat machine.

You don’t know if convicts and criminals vote or not In your urban areas. You cannot merely assert that they do not. Urban areas with all of the voter fraud vote at rates in excess of the actual registered voter lists. Your Donk friends like Holder also stand in the way of any attempt to crack down on voter fraud. The Donks encourage any scum bag to vote for them and you know it.

Also just because you do not vote does not mean that you are non-partisan.

Also whenever there is civil violence in the USA it is the Democrat constituents starting riots in urban areas or left wing protesters getting out of hand. Your Prez is a follower of a lkeft wing radical that tried to blow up a police station or somesuch.

    • Gamecock says:

“Another example of the further militarization of this nation’s proto-fascistic far-right.”

You are ill informed. Fascism is far left.

      • Justa Joe says:

Unconscious citizen is a rat. He wants to attribute imaginary violence to so-called right wingers, but real violence that occur in 97% Democrat controlled areas he wants to ignore because the perps he believes may not have been registered Democrats in good standing. Of course, he presumes that McVeigh was card carrying Republican. He also doesnt acknowledge that the Donks’ policies and goverance have had a hand in causing the urban crime in the first place.

        • A Conscious Citizen says:

The fixation on partisan politics is the root of this blogs failure. Not everything can be attributed to one of the two dominant political parties, especially considering the extremely low rate of citizen involvement in American electoral politics. Even more, to try and claim that all civil unrest is caused by ‘lefties’ is fallacious. Remember the hard hat riots? How about all the KKK demonstrations? Don’t forget your bigoted roots. To continue, peaceful civil disobedience, admittedly used more frequently by the more progressive left, is in the majority of cases a positive occurrence. As much as you would have loved to club all the ‘lefties’ marching during the Civil Rights Movement, it is because of them that little racist legislation remains enacted today. The same can be said of women’s suffrage, the rights of the laborer, etc… If the right had it their way this country would still be segregated (maybe slavery would even be legal), the Palmer raids would continue as every progressive would be labelled a commie and expelled, and the corporatocracy would hold even more power over the government, while not being taxed at all themselves. Surely their profits, too, would be larger, as I’m sure all legislation passed to protect the rights of the laborer (the child, the mother, the handicapped) would be repealed, allowing for 14 hour work days at a meager wage, just high enough to keep the workers coming in fed for another day of work.

        • Gamecock says:

“If the right had it their way this country would still be segregated”

Sir, it was “the right” that ended segregation. Johnson couldn’t get many Democrats to vote for his Civil Rights Act. It was Republican support that got it through Congress.

And, correct me if I’m wrong, it was a Republican who ended slavery.

Democratic Party was the party of the Klan.

You are a con, Concious Citizen. Revising history to suit your needs.

BTW: “The fixation on partisan politics is the root of this blogs failure.”

If it’s a failure, why are you here? Why are you commenting? That it is a failure is more revisionism.

        • A Conscious Citizen says:

Don’t pretend politics in this country are consistent. The Democrats of yesterday are today’s GOP. Party lines are constantly changing, which is why I’m not going to attribute anything to a marginal party. What matters are the constituents, that is, the members of these parties, and their alignment (Left or Right). Yes, you are absolutely correct about the position of the Democratic party during slavery and segregation alike. However, the position of that party during this era was far right! The GOP originated as a progressive left wing party, and at this time the South was blue! Actually, almost every state that was blue during this period of bigotry is red today, and vice versa. I am not revising history, as you are by attempting to characterize the political parties as the same today as they were centuries ago. I stand by my point. As for your point: “it was “the right” that ended segregation. Johnson couldn’t get many Democrats to vote for his Civil Rights Act. It was Republican support that got it through Congress.” This is absolutely incorrect. The republicans of this era were not “the right” and it was not the Right that ended slavery. Don’t obscure the truth with ambiguous party labeling.

        • Gamecock says:

Thank you for taking your meds and providing rational comment.

        • Justa Joe says:

The abolitionalists of yesteryear would be considered “right wing religious fundamentalist” today. Who is Unconscious trying to kid?

Newsflash: Unconscious, go to Cook County Correctional on 3015 N California Ave in Chicago and take your straw poll. You’ll find that the inmates are not dis-interested politically neutral souls that you claim. You’ll find that they’re 97% Democrats, love Obama, and hate Pubs. Heck, they sound just like you.

      • A Conscious Citizen says:

“Fascism is far left.” Clearly Reagan era education has done wonders for your understanding of political theory. If that were the case, then why during the Spanish Civil War were the Anarcho-Syndicalists, Socialists, and Communists (traditional leftists) in coalition against the Fascists and supporters of the Monarchy? Why, then, does the Fascist Golden Dawn party not align with the massive Collectivist political force in Greece? And the Contras? Should they have not formed alliance with the left-wing Sandanistas? I can go on for hours. I must again remind a reader of this blog the origin of the terms “Left” and “Right”: That is, from the arrangement of the French General Assembly. On the Left were seated the average working man and intellectual, inspired by the new Populous ideas spawned by the period of Enlightenment. On the Right, however, sat those who supported the old regime — that is, the one of Monarchy, Absolutism, and unwaivering state and church control. Remember where you sit.

        • Gamecock says:

“On the Right, however, sat those who supported the old regime — that is, the one of Monarchy, Absolutism, and unwaivering state and church control. Remember where you sit.”

If you wish to call us who value the Constitution “the Right,” go ahead.

        • Justa Joe says:

That’s pretty dumb. By that logic in the battle between the Crips and the Bloods one of those groups would have to represent law enforcement since at least one is an acknowledged criminal gang.

  4. David A says:

“I’d venture to say a very, very small minority of those who commit gun crimes have ever been involved in electoral politics.”

Then why do 97& of them have phones from Obama?

    • A Conscious Citizen says:

First and foremost, they don’t. And secondly, even were that the case it makes no contradiction to my statement. To receive government aid is in no way a form of involvement in electoral politics. Further, if you could please pinpoint the executive order passed by the President that gives out free phones I’d be delighted. To characterize any legislation you don’t agree with as being authored and passed by the Executive is a common strategy used to ignore the fact that there was a majority in the Senate, House, or both, which allowed this legislation to be implemented.

  5. gator69 says:

Just to set the record straight…

    “The Democrat Race Lie”

“This whopper deserves all the attention it can get. Again, it shows the ignorance and contempt of the electorate liberals depend on.

In 2010, Democrats gave their website a facelift and whitewash. Prior to 2010, the following is what readers got when they clicked on the Democrats.org “History” button….

“Democrats are unwavering in our support of equal opportunity for all Americans. That’s why we’ve worked to pass every one of our nation’s Civil Rights laws, and every law that protects workers. Most recently, Democrats stood together to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act.
On every civil rights issue, Democrats have led the fight. We support vigorous enforcement of existing laws, and remain committed to protecting fundamental civil rights in America.”

This is the kind of BS spewed by Democrats on a daily basis, and unfortunately the media and other so-called watchdogs are so apparently ignorant of American history, Democrats continue to LIE through their teeth to their constituents, and via academia, to our kids. Despite the truth being out there for years, it’s probably not going to explode until some big shot news anchor gives us an “explosive expose” bringing us all those facts first, so he/she can proudly receive a Pulitzer…

While I have only scratched the surface of civil rights history, here’s an except from yet another list of historical bullet points that dispute Democrat claims of civil rights support. As you read through it, remember, Democrats claim they “are unwavering in our support of equal opportunity for all Americans. That’s why we’ve worked to pass every one of our nation’s Civil Rights laws”…

And let’s not forget the words of liberal icon Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood…
We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population….

So the next time any Democrat claims they’ve been supportive of civil rights in America (and been so all along), ask them to explain their past. “We’ve grown” is not gonna cut it, considering they continue to lie about their past to this day, and only someone lacking in common sense would believe two distinct political parties could juxtaposition their stances on civil rights seemingly overnight.

And I’m tired of the recitation that Southern Democrats became racist Republicans and took those tendencies with them. Even today, it never takes long for a Democrat to play the race card purely for political advantage.”

I am a Libertarian, and do not support either major party, but I so tire of leftists lies that confuse the debate that is so very needed.
